Saw said player in the parking lot after the game carrying the boot that he had been wearing for everyone to see during the game. And walking perfectly fine without it in the parking lot.
Not blaming L for this but not excusing him either. Save for the E8 and F4 seasons, we've had culture issues within this program for quite some time now.

- Matt Cross
- The whole Chris Lykes situation
- and now this

Just to name a few off the top of my head.

This may have been a part of why L resigned mid-season.

Not saying he’s without blame… and maybe he should have seen it coming, but he obviously didn’t.

I don’t think you can blame him for Matt Cross… highly ranked recruit who he identified as a problem after enrollment and ultimately saw him off the team.

Character evals are hard and the overwhelming majority of our players have been good people.

It’s an open secret at UM. But the NCAA and universities are very scared to challenge players about injuries so the issue proliferates because the payoff is another year and as @Allabouttheu95 noted, there is now a greater incentive than ever to stay in college.
All that being said, I would be surprised to see him back at UM.

But does he even care as someone else will pay him.

Why didn't Pack enter the portal last year? Unless was bound to an NiL contract.

He certainly said all the right things as well in the off-season

Pack came back to play and get paid a healthy chunk of NIL…

Unfortunately he “quit” when it became apparent things weren’t working… and that was before L resigned.

Speaking only as to one played on the current team (but knowing a bit about other players NIL contracts), UM is very competitive. We may not offer what Kansas, Kentucky and Duke offer, but we are not NIL poor for basketball. We certainly pay enough to have a NCAA tourney team every year.
I'm not surprised. I mean, it's apples and oranges. A dozen Basketball recruits. 80+ on the Football side.

Once it went downhill quickly --- Why would Pack play vs. shirt and NIL? -- from Pack's perspective.

3/4s of the place wanted him to sit behind Bethea anyway.

C’mon man? Why would he play if he’s not injured?

You can’t be ok with him taking his NIL and opting out due to a contrived injury… if that’s really what’s going on.

If someone chooses to sit and shirt, that’s fine… But taking the NIL while sitting for a fake injury is no different from stealing.

"From Pack's perspective" -- So he got banged up, again, early and the season went off the rails. So, I am not sure I would expect a rush to get back vs. healing up and shirting.

Stealing? You all are extremely emotional. Was L stealing because he was exhausted? Is Mario's staff stealing for not buying into each other?

Faking an injury to sit while getting paid hundreds of thousands is definitely stealing.

L walked away and gave up his paycheck when he realized he couldn’t do it the way he wanted anymore.

And Mario is… well… so easy a _____________ can do it. So words have to be used more literally with respect to him.

I don't really disagree or like the behavior at all -- not you per se, but we have a habit of throwing players under the bus -- he may deserve getting run over, but we tend to see things slanted a time or two around these parts.

That’s totally fair and you’re right. But between what I actually saw (the parking lot behind the practice gym after the Presbyterian game) and what I’ve heard… I don't think this is throwing a player under the bus.

Maybe Pack will realize this is an incredibly bad move and finish the year. But if he doesn’t, he deserves ALL the criticism he gets… at least in my opinion. And word will certainly get out, so he’s not doing himself any favors with this.

Very fair. Perhaps he will cite the football policy as to the release of his injury report

This interview sounds like Mike Cronin will be available soon. I am not saying he is a candidate but I know some people like experienced HC.

Sounds like he is sick and tired of divas.

Can't say I blame him.

Things will get way worse, before they get better, if they get better.

Fans are gonna wish players were still getting jerked for money when this is all said and done.

Not trying to be a jerk but does it seem that we hire lots of people with drinking/past drinking problems? Is it us or is it that there are just lots of those people in the coaching business?
It goes with the territory. But, not any higher percentage than the rest of civilization.
