Not trying to be a jerk but does it seem that we hire lots of people with drinking/past drinking problems? Is it us or is it that there are just lots of those people in the coaching business?
It’s really not that hard to just not be a creep.
He was a ******* adult, if you can’t handle your **** don’t drink in public. I’m not saying to crucify the guy but “Oh ***** the person who filmed the guy that was actually the one in the wrong” is ridiculous. He was drunk.
He made a mistake.
He did kill or hurt anyone.
The person who did this is a RAT.
Yeah.Is it normal to offer someone a job in the middle of the season?
So that's what happened. I've been trying to figure out what it was about him at bowling green that happened.I had remember him well when he was an assistant to Gregg Marshall and I recall his incident at Bowling Green which cost him his job. After this I lost track. I am glad he rebounded his career at NMSU and MSU. He has won everywhere so he would be a stellar hire.
/and "scr-w you!" to the BGSU student who captured the video of him at a bar which got him fired.
Rats are people who betray trust. He was drunk.

As for what he makes himself, I've seen the number $4-4.2 Million. What was Coach L making? Will Miami up the basketball NIL to help him compete for talent?

Actions have consequences and the consequences of the actions are the result of the actions… not the fault of somebody who reports the actions.
I'm talking money for players...main reason we missed out on keeping players and signing local stars. As for what he makes himself, I've seen the number $4-4.2 Million. What was Coach L making?
Also typical of the board to hammer home on something a potentially strong hire has done years and multiple jobs ago.Nah, posting videos so you can get clicks or some sort of internet fame at the cost of someone's
career is in itself kind of creepy. If he was that concerned over some drunk coach slapping a lady's
rear end, he should have intervened. But, nah, it's too easy to sit back and film it.
And for what?
Just like the folks who revel in taking a video of people gettting a beat-down or getting lit on fire on a subway.
I'm thinking plenty of coaches / people have the tendency: Huggins, Few, Sark, La Russa; just a few that pop into my head. What coaches that we've hired? The only one I can quickly think of was Brad Kelly (1 yr baseball HC) and that was 30 years ago, d*man I've gotten old. And no idea if he a drinking "issue," his sin was drinking with the players. Not trying to be a jerk but does it seem that we hire lots of people with drinking/past drinking problems? I don’t think the board is hammering that home? It’s just a fact out there… certainly no inappropriate to discuss on a message board? Also typical of the board to hammer home on something a potentially strong hire has done years and multiple jobs ago.
I think that society has gotten comfortable with airing grievances vs. solving the problem and then saying don't make mistakes ever or we will try to cancel you.I don’t think the board is hammering that home? It’s just a fact out there… certainly no inappropriate to discuss on a message board?
I would be totally happy with him as the hire - if it happened.
Nonetheless it’s weak victim mentality to blame the reporter/bystander/video blogger, etc. for the consequences of your own actions.
Don’t want something to be blasted on the internet? Don’t do it.

Agree with the last part.I think there society has gotten comfortable with airing grievances vs. solving the problem and then saying don't make mistakes ever or we will try to cancel you.
Good that the school is offering a solid coach - either way.
I think we are at least slightly derailing the thread at this point. I am not saying people should not be responsible for their actions. I also don't think it unfair to call out the other side of the discussion either.Agree with the last part.
I just hate that everything gets pulled down a stupid political rabbit hole.
If you don’t want people to see you act a certain way, don’t act that way. It’s so weak to try to control what others do with information you give them.
Nobody, NOBODY, is cancelling Jans. I’m saying we’d be lucky to have him as a coach. But even worse than trying to “cancel” Jans - which nobody is even doing - is to try to undermine the core principle that you’re responsible for your own actions and if you don’t like how your actions look it’s your problem not anyone else’s and certainly not the people who reported or videod your actions.
