Broward kids don't feel loyalty to Miami...we claim Ft. Lauderdale more than Miami...just saying

UM was the hometown team for just about everybody in Broward unless you had familial allegiance to UF or fsu or were from davie.

Yep.

Zbrod is a nice kid but he's part of the very young **** South Florida generation of front-running cumbags with no local pride or sense of community. I can assure you that Broward was all about UM until fairly recently.

It was. This is all disgusting me. I grew up within the 305 but it was one area and the U was our school just like the Dolphins were our team. At Dolphins games there were Cooper City (Broward) people that sat in front of me at every game. This generation has no fûcking sense of community pride. The Fins moved north as a testament to it being one area.

I never said Broward people didn't root for Phins and Canes. Just referring to a sibling-type rivalry and struggle for identity that created resentment at a certain level of the population that clearly isn't reflective of some on the board. But when I talk about being a teenager, from "round the way", Broward Boyz have always wanted an identity apart from Dade county. Just sharing what I know and it's not up for debate because I lived it, and "if you don't know, now you know!!" Ask any athlete from Dade playing a Broward School and vice versa if there isn't a little something extra there when it comes to representing the county.

This is lost on a certain aspect of the fandom who aren't familiar with the term 'around the way'.

Pretty sure this lack of loyalty makes you pussies.

Me personally? Nah. I'm a Hurricane to the core. Lived in Dade for 10 yrs to boot. This is just the truth. You can call me whatever you like Mr. Ibis but who's getting emotional here?

I agree Jeudy's a kid and I get what Ibis Wingz and Franchise are saying 100%...generational, community-level, and so many disloyal cvnt adults that are basically soulless merc Carthaginians about to be assraped by Scipio into bolivion. That motherfvcker who sold Valentine to LSU for example. Drummond?

That said, the "Savages" line is straight ice cold heel turn worthy of a Ron Artest Indiana Pacers era fan beatdown brawl. Fighting. ****ing. Words.

And I hope that hash tag fuels our team from here on.

The Davie Dolphins have no connection to the city anymore.

Zbrod must be like twelve or something.

21 dude....and I know a lot of the Broward kids from the 2012 and 2013 classes.

It's how it is down here...very few guys are die hard UM fans like I am. Very few are a die-hard fan of any team in general

!! People dont get that lol alot of these players dont fvck with miami like that they grow up liking fsu, bama,.. Im 18 and been round many recruits alot think miami teams in general a joke hurricanes included, weird but its how it is, shid alot of players barely watch football at all youll be suprised

Jerry Jeudy isn't the problem, he's merely a symptom of the problem. There are a lot of grifters here, and it's ******* sickening.

BTW, Broward was 305 until August 1, 1996, and I think Palm Beach County was also 305 prior to that time.

Calling long distance I think it was, but calling local there was no area code for many years as I recall into the 90s; and the first thing I remembered when we went from 7-10 digit phone numbers in Broward was the 954 (we were very unhappy about giving up the 305 btw). I was very much a fan of the 305 but you're missing the larger point here. I'm talking about the county lines and not simply the area code.

You obviously grew up outside Broward but that's fine. This is just some real i'm trying to give the board about the psyche of young kids that grow up in certain (tough) neighborhoods. I don't care if a bunch of dudes who didn't live the experience don't agree. There's clearly a bubble of ignorance on this board that we don't need to rehash again, but that's not going negate the reality of what i'm saying, no matter how many internet tough-guys disagree or use disparaging remarks to provoke or discredit me.

It's a little like the boroughs in NY and art of the 80s from that region. Brooklyn and Queens clearly didn't get along at a certain level of the younger population (Hip Hop), which played out in the music or even in the movies like The Warriors. However I'm sure that didn't prevent Brooklynites from being fans of the Mets in Queens, or Yankees in the Bronx.. You see, the former doesn't negate the latter, and these two circumstances are not mutually exclusive.

I guess this is one of those trigger subjects that make people show their colors. You see where people come from and what level of life experience they have. It's cool though.. Real recognize real, and game recognize game.

So, to recap, we put a 48 hour full court press on a kid, immediately afterwards Saban sends down his SoFla bagman Cristobal (who is loved in the community because he hands or a lot of money) and it takes the kid less than 24h to reconfirm?

Maybe there was a reason Golden wasn't recruiting this one?

I'm not anywhere near 18, btw; so it's clear this isn't a generational thing. This is about if you've ever run in certain circles and understand how some of these young men's thought-processes. That's all. Problem is a certain...majority, can't step outside their own life experience to identify with that of the young athletes they spend time on these sites talking incessantly about.

At the high school level, or even petty street level, I would agree that there is friction with Dade and Broward dudes. But when you get to D1 college athletics, or pro, the community is usually United. Kind of like a poster mentioned above with New York and their teams.

You guys dont think people and high school ballers around alachua country don't consider UF the home team/school? **** even southern GA counties root for UF being that the school is so near.

The petty chit needs to be put to rest when it comes to repping home team. I hope these kids can realize that one day and stay home.

Miami is just a name that represents the general vicinity. UM is not even located in the city of Miami.

And I guarantee these broward and palm beach kids who say they have no love for Miami or Dade were **** riding the heat when Lebron was in town.

We're talking about repping the 305 in this convo but JJ (or Irvin for that matter), doesn't live in the 305.

Broward kids got no love for Dade, and I say that as a kid who grew up in Broward. If you're from around the way you'll understand that. This isn't like losing Amari Cooper.

I grew up in Dade. If that's how they feel in Broward then fûck that

We all know how you grew up because you shared as much on a previous thread, but I'm talking about kids that...grew up in different circles than you.. It's not directed at you so there's no need to gentrify the beef.

I'm not sure what my upbringing has to do with this conversation. It was all one area when I grew up here - all 305. The U was our team. Ask Bennie Blades or Michael Irvin.

Ok. I get that. Broward had an inferiority complex and a chip on its shoulder whereas we didn't think twice about Broward... Not trying to be contentious... But just because it was Broward. Ft. Lauderdale was always in Miami's shadows... I knew kids from Hollywood like that who had that chip against Miami.

We also had rivalries within Dade between areas too. It wasn't unique to counties. It was still all one area when it came to the U though. That was a uniting factor. That unity and pride in our City or our area's school, however you want to put it for your own mentality, is gone today, unfortunately.

Can't blame a kid for not being loyal to a program that was never loyal to him or to those he cares about.

Recruiting is about relationships, NOT money, NOT rings, NOT (insert some BS), its 100% about relationships.

Richt is doing a good job of repairing those relationships on the coaching side of recruiting, we just need the players that all the youngsters look up to now.

Sam Bruce was extremely popular in Broward. Duke Johnson was a big name too. Idk who it is in 2018 that's a must get.

If Richt was recruiting him at Georgia then Jeudy should have credited that to him here at the U. I don't see the sense in his choice given the situations but he handled himself like a gentleman. Thank you again for all you gave us.
