Jayden Maiava to UGA now to USC

Van Dyke threw for 375 and 5 TDs against A&M too. Do you want him?

Good stats at times but lots of questionable throws and accuracy things on tape. A lot of INTs as well....more on tape that could have been INTs.

It's a giant step back from Cam and from other names discussed this year. Feels like a panic move or settling bc the rest of the board has disappeared.
Van Dyke was a 4th year player with a career's worth of mental and physical scars. The appeal would be Maiava has starting experience, some tools and has less than 20 starts. So you'd believe you could refine what is there.

Staff clearly loves Emory cause he's intelligent and likely a film junky. Dudes feet are in cement and every throw is like an attempt at a 100mph pitch though.

I really still wouldn't be surprised if he was a starting QB somewhere eventually - if he improves his accuracy. Cause ultimately if you're an accurate passer and smart, you can succeed. But We'd definitely be pretty dumb to think he's a 10 win Qb next year. I'd still pick Nickel to beat Emory out 1v1 due to talent and being a gamer. But I would worry that Emory is the type of Qb that may just be better in practice cause he is smart and does what the coaches want to see basically.

But anyways we need a 1 yr portal Qb. **** best bet may be trying to get one of these guys that have just declared and get them to return. Otherwise we need to make a BIG offer to get Robertson/Hoover to enter portal ASAP. Other than that we can try to hit one of these guys that has already committed somewhere and see what happens. But yeah not looking like whatever this staff was banking on happening is happening.
My bet is Williams Portals out in the Spring.

Maiava threw some dots in this ND game that his receivers dropped

Dude first off, anybody we get is a huge step back from Cam Ward lol. There isn’t a returning college qb even close to Ward. This kid is a significant upgrade to the room. He put up great numbers behind a terrible ol room and a toxic locker room. I mean who else do you suggest at the moment that will realistically enter the portal?
No ****...i'm talking momentum/name recognition to Cam and others that were in the portal or have been discussed as possibly being in the portal. It feels different to land this kid after missing out on others or having hope a big name popped. Plus, i was talking Cam's tape at Wazzu, not Miami. He had questions about turnovers and such driving his grade down for the draft but you saw bigtime throws as well. Nobody was going to come in and match Cam's play this year.

Someone mentioned the ND game, so i'm going to look for that one. I wasn't impressed with the A&M and UCLA clips i saw.

Plus arm? Plus accuracy?

Yes and yes. Three of the four 50 yard passes he threw against us were to TEs or RBs, so he didn't have a lot of deep-threat WRs to show off the long ball.

Year-over-year improvement.

Not coming at you.. just curious to your thoughts.

What makes him not good? His arm? pocket presence? Production? 3 int game?

FTR, I like him.
Inaccurate. Late on way too many throws. Arm not good enough to be that inaccurate or late. Pocket presence isn’t good. Refuses to stay in the pocket.
