Ivins new recruiting info

Absolutely horrid if we punt on a QB this cycle. You need 1 every cycle.

You need a good one every cycle. I agree with your logic, but it seems the staff just doesn't feel there is a good fit in this class aside from MJJ. If that is the case, sometimes you're better off not taking one than tying up a scholarship/spot in the QB room with a bum or a malcontent. Hopefully, we find they have justified confidence in what we've got in there right now and a star will emerge between Kosi, Cade, or JW.

I agree to an extent. Don't take a QB just to take one. You just waste a spot on a guy that'll transfer in 2 years. Having said that, there are transfer QBs on the market as well that I'd be fine with.

Right, but we don't need/want a transfer right now, do we? Maybe if there's a guy who can play right away and only has one year remaining, sure. I'd take Russell Wilson for the one year he went to Wisco right now, of course, but is/was there a guy like that available? I don't follow the whole country closely enough to know the answer to that. When we'll want an incoming transfer at QB is, if we don't get MJJ, someone we can sign on or after signing day February '19.

Personally i dnt mind passing on qb this cycle. I think we need to solidify the trenches on both sides of the ball and take a large number on both Oline and Dline. I stated on another thread we needed 11 big uglies 4 oline n 7 dline if we are not taking a qb i would change that num to 12. 5 oline 7 dline.

100% agree. In principle, everyone knows we should take a QB each cycle. However, given our critical needs in the trenches (especially DL) and our youth depth at QB, I think 2019 is one year we would be best to bypass a QB IF AND ONLY IF we can't land MJ Jr or a QB of his caliber.

I'd much rather we use the scholly on a quality 4th DE or DT rather than reach for a 3* project at QB just to bring in a QB.

40%+ of P5 QBs transfer at least once...the market is robust

Zero chance we don't take a QB this cycle. And if we do, our staff are a bunch of morons. If JW wins the job, you think Perry and Weldon are just going to ride the bench the rest of there careers? **** no they aren't. ****, I would honestly be looking at taking 2 QBs this cycle, a highly touted kid and a middle of the road kid. You always need at least 3 scholly QBs on your roster. And like I said if JW wins the job next year, which I believe he does, say bye to both Perry and Weldon.

We for sure need to take a QB. Malik will be gone, 1 of Perry/Weldon could transfer, and that leaves Jarren and 1 of Perry/Weldon. Can’t go into 2019 with 2 QBs on scholarship. Even 3 seems low. 4 seems like the right number every year.

Every big program is doing this.

Yes every "big program" is recruiting...

it's ideal to recruit a player on every position every cycle but some times shxt happens... yall be acting like skipping out on a qb w/ set the program back a decade. QBs are starting as freshman and redshirt freshman so it's not a big deal.

What Ivins also said about QB that the OP did not put in there was that if they whiff on MJJ then they'd probably look at the transfer market for a QB after the season.

Right. This is the correct answer.

Think about how many former 5-star QB recruits are transferring or grad-transferring during this off-season. This is the new normal, guys get squeezed out when one particular school recruits great QBs in back-to-back-to-back years. No top-rated QB is waiting to play as a 6th year senior anymore.

Find a kid who we can sign this year, let him transfer in two years if we don't need him, then look at the transfer market down the road (i.e., don't try to get a transfer from the same HS graduating class as either N'Kosi or Jarren).

Who said we'd be set back a decade? Having said that, if the hypothetical situation occurs where Jarren takes over this year and Perry and Weldon are seeking transfers, then who's backing him up going forward (because Rosier's gone after this year).

QBs transfer the most out of any other position.

Clemson out here signing 5 stars every year and we're questioning whether we should even take 1. That's the wrong answer.

And sometimes 2.

Don't agree with only 3 LBs this cycle if that's how it plays out.

Yeah, I was willing to take a step back from my comment last cycle when we only took 1 LB because LB in 2019 was absolutely loaded. Only taking 3 would not be taking full advantage.

I see they have Richards as a safety. They better not **** around and lose this kid because they see him as a safety. Sign him as an athlete and figure it out later
