It's time for Golden to post a signature win

Butch walked into a talented roster, lots of fans thought he underachieved his first two years because of the talent. The roster hadn't been affected by Sanctions yet.

No comparison between the talent on Al and Butchs teams the first two years.

We had no depth and still had some of Erickson's thug idiot recruits on the roster. 1997 could of been a 2 or 3 win sesson if we weren't playing a horrible Rutgers, Temple, or BC teams.. Those rosters those years were caring 60 players at most on schollies..

I FIND IT FUNNY U MENTION "ERIKSON'S THUG IDIOT RECRUITS" AND YOU DIDN'T SLAMM SCHNELLY FOR RECRUITING THE VERY SAME ANIMALS OUTTA THE HOODS OF MIAMI....BUT PLEASE EXCUSE THE DOMINANCE & NATIONAL TITLES ON YOUR WAY TO WALT DISNEY WORLD.....

Lol @ the world "revolving around me". It's not about me, it's about healthy dissent/ discussion. See, I don't get caught up in the circle jerk that has become the "Golden era". Fck all that. I've been a fan too long... Seen too much. I've heard about how big these kids have gotten in the off season.... Only to watch those same kids get pushed around during the season. I've seen the hyping of freshmen before they step foot on campus....only to see fans call that same kid a JAG less than two seasons later. I could go on and on, but you get my drift. Cane fans get labeled as some of the worst in sports because of our ability to tell the truth about our team, but that's the same thing that makes this fan base special. We are real, and I feel like there's a certain sect that wants to muffle any real discussion about some of the things we are seeing out of this current staff. They are not beyond reproach. Moreover, they are not beyond criticism. That's what being a fan is all about- being fanatical..... But not delusional. We are not Gator fans, nor are we Seminole fans. We don't hide behind fandom and pretend to not see things that are there. Duke disappears in big games. Stephen Morris can't throw an intermediate/short pass to save his life- not to mention his lack of pocket presence. Our OL can't run block for ****. Dionofrio can't scheme his way out of a wet paper bag. My point is that all of the above can be fixed, by either growing some fckg nuts ( telling dionofrio that this is it- get it done or get it packing), and "coaching" up these players... They have talent. They need direction. Perhaps it's the delusion of all fans that if enough of us point out the glaring, obvious shortcomings of this squad, the coaches will see it too and focus intently on those shortcomings and we all will be pleasantly surprised. But reality has bitten us in our collective azzez lately. If we sucked at something last year, odds are, we'll suck at those particular things again. Perhaps it's the delusion of us fans that maybe-just maybe..Al reads these threads and takes our cynicism as some sort of challenge??? One can hope, can't he? But I guess I'm just being a true fan, huh?

How about you stop pretending these topics haven't all been discussed a billion times already before you hop up on your soapbox and act like you are feeding everyone all these deep thoughts.
Stop hatin', *** boy. I'll post what I feel.

After the 1991 season title ''His'' recruits caused this program to go in a 8 year downfall. You can recruit thugs for titles but you have to know how to contain them and Erickson couldn't... Causing the program to crumble when we could of been rolling to a couple more titles in the 90's...

89 was JJ guys most of 1991 team were his guys with some of jj players left over as veterans. After that season Erickson's recruits were the reason for our downfall and sanctions..

I'm not going to argue regarding the sanctions' issue, because it has been well documented. However, Erickson's worst season was '93 when he went 9-4. And, he followed that up with a 10-2 campaign in his final year at UM (with an outside shot at an MNC). I still think Butch Davis could have had a better initial season with Erickson's recruits if it wasn't for a complete overhaul in philosophy. IMVHO, Erickson would've posted a better record in '95. For all the issues Pink had at UM, the man knew offensive football and is still considered one of the best minds in the game. Pink was a master at finding and exploiting matchups, even if he didn't always have the talent advantage. Just one man's opinion.

Exactly . There was lots of fans that was unhappy with Butchs first year especially with a good amount of talent back from the 1994 team .

That 1994 team is very underrated by our fans. They beat down a really good Fsu team and had arguably the greatest team ever on the ropes. Nebraska wore us down but it took their greatest team ever to barely beat us 24-17.

We were loaded in 94 especially the D. This is just the front seven guys.

Kenny Holmes*
Kenard Lang*
Patrick Riley*
Warren Sapp*
James Burgess*
Ray Lewis
Rohan Marley

That defense gave up something like 10-11 ppg. One of our best defenses ever. JJ had been gone for six years and as you can see Dennis brought in his own talent, a pretty **** good amount of it.
