It's time for Golden to post a signature win

The thing is, you're never sure if a win is a signature win or not until you can look at it context at the end of the season. For example, under Randy, I was sure that the win against Oklahoma was a signature win when it took us to 3-1 with all four games having been against ranked teams. Next thing you know we **** the bed and crawled down the stretch.

Progress isn't measured in one game increments, it's measured in growth and improvement. We could lose to UF, but bounce back and win the rest of our games, including F$U and end up in a BCS bowl. Conversely, we could beat UF, lost to a few teams we shouldn't further in the season, and not even win the coastal division and end up in some ****ty bowl in Idaho. Which season would you rather have?

agreed entirely. what improvements are we looking for this year should be the topic/issue in question, rather than a singular game.

Lock the thread.

Look dude. If we can't beat a weak UF team at home... With a senior QB.... A Sensational RB (both of whom are being haled as Heisman hopefuls)....the biggest, most experienced OL in the country....a solid group of Wrs, etc., then what in the **** makes you think we beat FSU later in the season? Just askin'. Tell you what- we get our asses handed to us by a one-dimensional squad.... You feel confident we "run the table"??? Shiiiiiiiiid, I don't. I'm just being real with the ****.

Cause our D sucks a big one (no homo).

I guess beating Ohio State in 2011 isn't close to a signature win?

No braxton miller was a fraud

braxton miller was a wide-eyed wreck out there as a freshman. i may as well had been playing QB...that OSU team SUCKED...think they went 6-7 that year

GTFOH with a signature when for that mess

Sad part if we had a QB that could throw we could have beat them by 50...jacory threw some soft balls in that game..and Golden played keep away on the 2nd half.....that has to change going fwd...run up the score..

Everyone (including Golden himself) points to the NCAA cloud as being the dispositive reason Golden has underperformed thusfar....but have you actually seen our recruiting rankings since Golden took over??? Not exactly luncheon meat, bro....yet we still drop games to the likes of Virginia???

Again...attack my opinions all you want, but the truth is the truth- this UF game will tell those of us with any semblance of football acumen all we need to know about the true direction of this program. Why? Again-confidence.Could we drop the UF game and go on to dominate? I would hope so...but **** in one hand and hope in the other and see which fills up first....

This game is pivitol in the sense that it will act as the catalyst that takes our program back to where we belong, back on top, or stuck in mediocrity.... We lose this game? We're looking at an 8-4ish type year. We win this game? We are winning 10 regular season games at a minimum. Its that simple.

FAU will show you all you need to know about this season...

the BC game showed the way last year....BIG O bad D DUKE VERY GOOD..STEPHEN STREAKY.

FAU not FL is Goldens sig game this year....

I don't want Golden to take the time to post a signature win until he's proven that it's time for him to post a signature win.

Lol @ the world "revolving around me". It's not about me, it's about healthy dissent/ discussion. See, I don't get caught up in the circle jerk that has become the "Golden era". Fck all that. I've been a fan too long... Seen too much. I've heard about how big these kids have gotten in the off season.... Only to watch those same kids get pushed around during the season. I've seen the hyping of freshmen before they step foot on campus....only to see fans call that same kid a JAG less than two seasons later. I could go on and on, but you get my drift. Cane fans get labeled as some of the worst in sports because of our ability to tell the truth about our team, but that's the same thing that makes this fan base special. We are real, and I feel like there's a certain sect that wants to muffle any real discussion about some of the things we are seeing out of this current staff. They are not beyond reproach. Moreover, they are not beyond criticism. That's what being a fan is all about- being fanatical..... But not delusional. We are not Gator fans, nor are we Seminole fans. We don't hide behind fandom and pretend to not see things that are there. Duke disappears in big games. Stephen Morris can't throw an intermediate/short pass to save his life- not to mention his lack of pocket presence. Our OL can't run block for ****. Dionofrio can't scheme his way out of a wet paper bag. My point is that all of the above can be fixed, by either growing some fckg nuts ( telling dionofrio that this is it- get it done or get it packing), and "coaching" up these players... They have talent. They need direction. Perhaps it's the delusion of all fans that if enough of us point out the glaring, obvious shortcomings of this squad, the coaches will see it too and focus intently on those shortcomings and we all will be pleasantly surprised. But reality has bitten us in our collective azzez lately. If we sucked at something last year, odds are, we'll suck at those particular things again. Perhaps it's the delusion of us fans that maybe-just maybe..Al reads these threads and takes our cynicism as some sort of challenge??? One can hope, can't he? But I guess I'm just being a true fan, huh?

How about you stop pretending these topics haven't all been discussed a billion times already before you hop up on your soapbox and act like you are feeding everyone all these deep thoughts.

Didn't read all of the thread.

With that being said I believe his "signature win" would be winning the ACC. Not making it to the ACCG but actually placing 1st in the the ACC Standings. That speaks volumes to me. I would love to beat UF. As long as AG beats up the ACC I'm cool.

Yes, we saw the recruiting rankings. Those ranking represent the potential, but when they are true freshmen and sophomores who don't yet have the experience or size/strength yet are expected to not fill in, but to be the primary make-up of the team, you get the kinds of results we did. When a team has zero depth at many key positions as the new staff is trying to plug holes, you get those kinds of results. There was no "under performing" going on. Don't forget that the vast majority of experts and publications predicted Miami to only win 4-6 games last year because of the youth, inexperience, suspensions, and NCAA cloud. So how did we "under perform"?

Butch walked into a talented roster, lots of fans thought he underachieved his first two years because of the talent. The roster hadn't been affected by Sanctions yet.

No comparison between the talent on Al and Butchs teams the first two years.

The recored needs to be set that..AL golden is going to be here for a while...If the D is just 30% better so is coach D..which is needed for this team to freaking keep coaches

fact: recruiting is better than two years ago
fact: Talent started to show last year...
fact: Guys are getting stronger and healthier
fact: Golden has stuck with HIS game plan
fact: we played as many fresh, young players in the country last year
fact: we are upset that we lost to UNC and UVA
fact: the NCAA has effected this team in one way or another
fact: no fan is happy with 7 wins EVER with Miami
fact: 11 wins and our fans will still *****

Not to mention culture. While Butch inherited a built up culture of accomplishment, attitude and local talent influx (which he inherited from the 18 year book of work by Saban, Schnells, JJ, & Erickson preceding him), Golden inherited a decade of build DOWN from Coker and Shannon consisting of an entitled culture, so-so talent, and alienated local coaches. That's not an excuse, that's the facts.

Still, the expectations of a return to yesteryear is what he'll be judged by. Here's hoping this is the year we see the turning point.

NO ONE CAN DISMISS THAT THE TEMP OF THIS TEAM HAS CHANGED DRASTICALLY AND IT ALL STARTED WITH GOLDIE'S ARRIVAL.... TEAM PRIDE AND UNITY IS THE DIFFERENCE FROM THEN > NOW AND THAT WILL WIN GAMES ON THE FIELD....THESE RECRUITS CAME AND ARE COMING TO THE :neonu: TO PUT THEIR CITY BACK ON THE MAP AND GOLDIE STARTED THAT BALL ROLLIN'.....

THAT'S WHY I PREVIOUSLY SAID, GOOD OR BAD, CLEAR THIS EVER LINGERING NCAA FOG HANGIN' OVER OUR HEADS, GIVE THESE GUYS A POINT OF FOCUS WITHOUT OUTSIDE DISTRACTIONS AND WE CAN HOLD ONTO OUR *** FOR THE RIDE..... THE ENTIRE COLLEGE FOOTBALL WORLD, INCLUDING THE NCAA CAN'T STOP WHAT'S COMING.....AND THEY KNOW IT....AND IT'S ABOUT TIME SOME OF US AROUND HERE GET ON BOARD AS WELL..... :crownpour:
