It's time for Golden to post a signature win

Lol @ the world "revolving around me". It's not about me, it's about healthy dissent/ discussion. See, I don't get caught up in the circle jerk that has become the "Golden era". Fck all that. I've been a fan too long... Seen too much. I've heard about how big these kids have gotten in the off season.... Only to watch those same kids get pushed around during the season. I've seen the hyping of freshmen before they step foot on campus....only to see fans call that same kid a JAG less than two seasons later. I could go on and on, but you get my drift. Cane fans get labeled as some of the worst in sports because of our ability to tell the truth about our team, but that's the same thing that makes this fan base special. We are real, and I feel like there's a certain sect that wants to muffle any real discussion about some of the things we are seeing out of this current staff. They are not beyond reproach. Moreover, they are not beyond criticism. That's what being a fan is all about- being fanatical..... But not delusional. We are not Gator fans, nor are we Seminole fans. We don't hide behind fandom and pretend to not see things that are there. Duke disappears in big games. Stephen Morris can't throw an intermediate/short pass to save his life- not to mention his lack of pocket presence. Our OL can't run block for ****. Dionofrio can't scheme his way out of a wet paper bag. My point is that all of the above can be fixed, by either growing some fckg nuts ( telling dionofrio that this is it- get it done or get it packing), and "coaching" up these players... They have talent. They need direction. Perhaps it's the delusion of all fans that if enough of us point out the glaring, obvious shortcomings of this squad, the coaches will see it too and focus intently on those shortcomings and we all will be pleasantly surprised. But reality has bitten us in our collective azzez lately. If we sucked at something last year, odds are, we'll suck at those particular things again. Perhaps it's the delusion of us fans that maybe-just maybe..Al reads these threads and takes our cynicism as some sort of challenge??? One can hope, can't he? But I guess I'm just being a true fan, huh?

Look fellas. All I'm saying is that this game (UF) is (to me) the most important game of the season for one reason and one reason only- CONFIDENCE. These kids lose that game and it becomes psychological....they can't play with top-tier teams...then they take lesser opponents lightly...and fck around and lose because that "lesser" team was turned up to play the "U". Then we become labeled as "mediocre"....we go on to drop another game to a scrub and then "get up" for FSU, but lose a squeaker. We end up 8-4....and you will have stupid biches saying sh@t like "brick by brick"...."8-4, Al has these kids getting better and better"... "Next year when Kayaa gets here....". Gag me with a fckg spoon! Rinse and repeat. Fck. That. WIN, Al!!!! You mofos know I'm right, but the mere thought of this makes a real Cane fan lash out and attack a "troll". I get it, but If Al gets out schemed by a one dimensional team, we have a straight bum on our hands folks. Hate to say it, but I saw it with Randy early on..and I see some troubling signs outta Golden as well. I could give a fck about 3 Penny films and good speech, give. Me. Wins.

And who are you? Exactly!

I'm still waiting for the CIS signature win of cleaning up the board.

Some solid improvements on offense via Pete, but the defense allows too many JAGs to pose as contributing posters.

And... Beating UF would be a big win, but let's win the Coastal. "Needing" to beat a highly ranked out of conference opponent is an exaggeration based on the rustled jimmies brought on by the emotion of the "rivalry".

WHEN THE NEWS COMES DOWN FROM THE NCAA, GOOD OR BAD, THE BLOOD IN THE WATER WILL IGNITE THIS PROGRAM BEYOND INSTITUTIONAL CONTROL....*** RAPIN' THE GAYTORS ON 9/7 WILL BE NOTHING MORE THAN A FORMALITY....

BANK IT!!!

I want to have a winning record against ranked opponents this year. That to me is more important than the fairy tale "signature win". If beating UF accomplishes both goals, I'm all for it

When was Butch's first signature win? What year?

1998 against the number 1 team in the country UCLA..

Correct. Not number one, though. Don't forget to add that it was in his 4th season, the game was the next to the last game of the year, and it was a week after everyone was calling for his head because Syracuse had just beaten us by 50 the week before. And if the ref doesn't botch the fumble call, we lose that **** game. Perspective people.

UCLA was Butch's first "signature" win and that was in year #4.

But Butch has had 3 times the tougher circumstances than Al Golden. 96-98 was the lowest the program got since the 70's. 1997 team was one of the worst in school history... If we weren't in the big east we might have only won 2 maybe 3 games that season. We could barely field a team in those years with the sanctions.

I disagree.

I think you have a very difficult time understanding that MIAMI is rebuilding and exactly what that process has entailed.

Make up your mind. You started this in clear attempt to lynch Golden. Now you are throwing the players under the bus. Can't judge coaches if the players they inherited stink and can't judge players if coaches suck. We are all fustrated by what has happened. What coach from our pass do you want to back? Howard? I love him. **** use to stand next to him at Fin practice at Biscayne College. He desreves a statue. BUT let's not forget, he gave us a NCAA investiagtion and penalties. Still, a young Howard might be able to right this ship -- young Howard. JJ the Great. What excitement years. But he rebuilt nothing and as I point out earlier, you could argue he failed miserably by winning only one NC. Dennis? Did any of us actually like him? He did bring us 2 NCs with again with being left the greatest talent in the land. AND he left us with horrible NCAA mess and massive penalties not to mention his own crapping recruiting. Butch the Savior? No question the greatest recruiter ever, anywhere. Built JJs classes and left Dennis his. Came back and cleaned up the mess and built the great ever collection again. But he could not coach would a crap on game day. And now he left NC in a NCAA mess. Coaker? Please, as long as Ed Reed was on the field running the defense he was okay. But just a little slip to a mere Shawn Taylor and bam-- can't win it. He should have been fired in 2003 when he didn't win a NC with 5 1st round picks or certainly the next year win SIXTH 6 first round picks! And let us not forget he begot the little **** too! Randy? Hey at least Randy knew better than to deal with that dog ****! I will give him that. But coaching, please. They say recruiting but how many 1st rounders did Randy recruit? I really don't know so it could not be many. Which one do you want? You talk, but pick a coach. Remember he has to recruit without $$$$$$$$$$$$$ for recruits from boosters. We are not the team we were, **** we were never the team that we all remember. But we were the most exciting thing to ever hit college football. That we can be again. May it begin with a total beat down of the slimmy swamp scum.

Yeah he should of beat all those top teams with that monster talent on defense

Butch had 3 times tougher circumstances? Where have you been the last 2.5 years?
Developing an asinine algorithm that gave him "3 times tougher" when comparing circumstances.

Underrated post

OP called most fans here delusional. Hey Pot, Kettle is on yo cell phone homie! We have had two years of the most god awful defenses that we have had in past two decades. That was a product of many things. Not just the players, not just the coaches, not just the recruiting and not just the NCAA BS but an array of a perfect ***** storm of epic proportions. That crap doesn't get iron'd out in one or two seasons. Why don't you get that you first have to "RIGHT THE SHIP" before you can put that ***** back on the ocean traveling at 250 knots. Holy crap..it isn't rocket science. Does Golden need a proverbial signature win....uh yeah I guess, but more importantly he needs "CONSISTENT WINNING"! If he can take care of that part, YOUR signature win will be bundled up nicely in a solid season that sends us BCS hunting. That is the ultimate goal. Not one friggin' game!

The thing is, you're never sure if a win is a signature win or not until you can look at it context at the end of the season. For example, under Randy, I was sure that the win against Oklahoma was a signature win when it took us to 3-1 with all four games having been against ranked teams. Next thing you know we **** the bed and crawled down the stretch.

Progress isn't measured in one game increments, it's measured in growth and improvement. We could lose to UF, but bounce back and win the rest of our games, including F$U and end up in a BCS bowl. Conversely, we could beat UF, lost to a few teams we shouldn't further in the season, and not even win the coastal division and end up in some ****** bowl in Idaho. Which season would you rather have?
