Issues with coach Mike Rumph

Yall do know that just because he coaches CB's doesn't mean that he recruits CB's, right?

Coaches don't necessarily recruit the positions that they coach.

They have since Richt got on board genius. They are recruiting by position to finish off this cycle to maximize relationship development.

At least make it a package deal like michigan and other schools have done with these corches but you mean to tell me they wont even pay you a visit lololol

4 weeks on the job and he should be fired?!? smh. I just don't get some people smh. Some of these relaltionships are built over months and years. The man hasn't been a college coach for a full month yet. Give the staff a chance and stop whining.

How long of a relationship did Tenn and their secondary coach have with Byrd? Matter of fact why couldn't he even land an OV from Burns when he was his **** HS coach if relationships meant everything in recruiting?

Tough blow losing Byrd on the eve of signing day. I was never comfortable when Larry Scott put the full court press on Byrd.

yeah relationships do mean everything.....and byrd chose to go with his Roommate/brother to Tennessee. You're neglecting to mention that and blaming Rumph for something that would have happened no matter who was the cornerbacks coach

It's been stated that Byrd made the decision before he OV'd to Tennessee or Miami so there was really nothing we could do about it imo.

Burns not getting an OV is disappointing for sure but that doesn't make or break rumph as a coach yet. Maybe the kid doesn't want to live in miami, maybe he doesn't like the program, etc. You don't know that Rumph didn't try his best to get burns here.

Also, Rumph helped with Finley but nobody wants to mention that huh?

If he strikes out next year and there is bad DB play then sure can his ***. Until then, i'll be patient

The man has been the db coach for 1 month....we haven't even made it to the Spring game yet!!! You really think Byrd flipped because Rumph is incompetent recruiter?! Our fans are so ****** emotional

Way too early! Give him a chance. The staff needs a year to recruit and build relationships! Byrd doesn't want to win. He wants Golden and Scott back so we can go .500. He will reach those goals at UT!! LOL!

Any point that the psycho Golden Showers agrees with I have to take the opposite stance.

Just on principle.

Back on the issue of Rumph I will defend him until I have reason to doubt him. The bottom line if Golden would have gotten rid of Paul Williams and this Mickey Mouse defense several years ago they would have defensive back ready to step up.In the 2015 cycle they lost out on Davante Davis, Carlton Davis, Tim Irvin,Burgess-Becker,Tavarus McFadden, Kendrel McFadden, Tyrek Cole and my Fav Reshard Fenton{local} and Marcus Lewis, and Kevin Henry {national} and would have lost out on Redwine if it wouldn't have been for Jaquan Johnson.Place judgement on the field and the next recruiting cycle, when the man has more than 3 weeks to work.2015 was one of the strongest years ever for DB in south florida and we failed miserably.

Wow some of you are ridiculous, he hasn't even been here for half a year. Relationships take longer than than that to build. And since when did twitter become the only way to recruit.

The funny thing is people KNOW it's hard to make noise in a lame duck recruiting class, yet they're panicking anyway.

Let's give Rumph longer than a **** month to do work.

What this Byrd situation showcased is the importance of relationships. Impossible to hold rumph accountable in this case. Just a recruit who went rogue to the shock and dismay of the staff and fans.

THIS!!!

Phuckin' up a CB/DB bonanza like that will take years to make up.

Not to mention 2017 Marco Wilson from American Heritage. A gator lean now but if you're going to judge Rumph based on recruiting efforts at least give the man more than 30 days.

Wilson is one of the best in the country, coming from Rumph's high school, and more importantly Rumph will be his direct position coach (something people couldn't say about burns). I'm not one to judge coaches on recruiting alone, especially before the first game or even spring ball like most on here. We'll see how the secondary (which is awfully thin on depth) plays this year and we'll see if Rumph can land Wilson or Stanford Samuels next year and we can re-evaluate then

Our tight end and special teams better be on point. Because I honestly never really understood why Larry Scott wasn't brought back.

I wasn't going to make it a big deal. But now that Scott has chumped our staff and stole Byrd right from under our noses I wonder if anyone thinks this might have been a mistake.

People can say whatever about him wanting to play with his brother. This was not an issue for a whole year. But then all of a sudden Scott gets a job at Tennessee and then he wants to play with his brother.

What do people not understand about this :

It's been well documented that Larry Scott was NOT let go. He was offered TE coach here. He chose to go to tennessee on his own.

He didn't deserve OC over richt obviously so that's the best opening we had. He could have stayed
