Issues with coach Mike Rumph

To Rumph's defense. You shouldn't have to sell UM to a kid that grew up close to the campus. Those type of recruits never work out in the end. If he didn't bleed orange and green than get the **** on. Good luck Chris.

This is after he told Miami AND uf coaches he was coming he flipped at the last minute

Then they shouldn't have gone public & got so cöcky with flakey kids. Obviously people are going to be like WTF when it blows up in their face.Should have kept it to themselves. It known for awhile he was a UF lean.

Don't get it twisted

They didn't go public with it.

they got dean, bandy and dallas, that's all they need with redwine, young, Jackson and guys already here, id like to have got Henderson also but truth is rumph has 1 yr coaching experience at college level and florida used it against him.

next year when florida gets 7 wins or fewer because Muschamp recruits are gone on d and they still can't score points, people will stop going to florida.

I like what I saw from our CB's this year.

Colbert came in as a back up 5th year safety and he turned into a solid CB.

Young contributed and progressed with each game.

Elder was good already but he tuned into an elite CB and one of the best we've had in a long time.

Rumph appears to be a solid coach and honestly I'd take a good coach at CB over a great recruiter. Especially when you recruit SF as: (1) we will always get a stud or two (Burns, Harris, Howard, Bandy, etc.) and (2) there are plenty of non-elite kids available that you can turn into players with coaching (Rhodes, Jackson, Moreau, etc.).

If there is someone who should be on watch right now it's Banda. He's supposed to be the recruiter.

Bandy was all Cane--he just never had an offer. Losing Henderson and Edwards means failure this year. I don't want to hear any talk of next year's CB class being amazing. Thats a loser's mentality.

Well considering this recruiting cycle is over, talking and planning for next years class is called good strategy, not a loser's mentality.

Unless you want Rumph to flegellate himself after he's publicly tarred and feathered.

It's over. Nobody would say this was a great performance by him, but all that's left now is to make up for it in the next class.

Unless of course you want to spend the rest of the year bïtching about something that's already done.

Fans talking and planning about next year is not strategy. It has nothing to do with anything. It's just people sharing opinions. We have no effect.

I'm evaluating Rumph's recruiting performance this year. This year he failed. He won zero head to head battles (assuming Edwards is gone too). Failure.

I don't want to hear anyone telling me how great next year's class is going to be. Next year's class is next year's class. A lot happens in one year. How did we fare today? Poorly.

It's a fair assessment. It's not b!tching. Maybe I could have used nicer terms in my assessment.

We just signed three 4-star CBs.

Whether or not he was the chief recruiter for them is irrelevant. If he's a good position coach (and the early returns are positive), he has plenty of talent to work with.

this staff did a solid job. the finish so far is good, ill say its not great, we didn't get Henderson and probably aren't getting Edwards but we did get Thomas and Harley to go with njoku at wr, davonta smith was always a long shot and he hasn't announced as of yet that I know of, kept Hillary to go with Herbert also on oline, so the one huge need oline was the best part of this class,

Rumph lost a longtime, seemingly rock solid commit in Tyler Byrd to Tennessee a year ago. Couldn't beat out Butch Jones AKA Al Golden 2.0. And now he's gone 0-for-4 in head-to-head battles for South Florida DBs to UF, despite having all the advantages in the world to pitch to recruits (depth chart, aggressive defense, improved on-field product).

What makes anyone think this is going to get better next year when we're vying for even better talent (Campbell/Jobe/Hall/Surtain) against dominant programs? Competing against Bama/Clemson/FSU/LSU is a whole different ballgame than going against Tennessee and Florida. Rumph & Banda don't stand a chance against those schools for DBs without UM ties (Frierson & Blades).

Can't wait to see the excuses some will come up with when Rumph fails to land Campbell.

And to throw salt in the wound Byrd ends up at WR for tenn where he catches a whopping zero touchdowns

Kid didn't want to play at Db and wanted to follow his buddy to Tennessee umm yea and this year you have to kids who have absolutely no sense of loyalty except for to them selves which is great but this man made visits scouted showed love did it all sorry but it's some kids who just don't want to be canes my only fault with him is I feel like we limited ourselves instead of going more nationally to find other kids

How's does Banda outperform Rumph? Banda never played college ball, never drafted, is short and pudgy.

Rumph played at UM during its hay day, 1st Rd pick, multimillion $ contract, connections to AH high school and other SFL high schools. It makes no god **** sense

Dugans definitely pulled it out with Thomas. You havbe to question CMR as much as Dugans since Smith and Holliman committed to CMR at UGA but neither came here. Rumph and Brown failed miserably. Dugans closed the #1 WR in country, Thomas, as far as I'm concerned. He grades out an A. So does Kool and Searles.

The question is not Richt and Dugans, but why Georgia over The U. The problem is 1) money 2) SEC garbage 3) Miami itself.
