Issues with coach Mike Rumph

Like many have said, Banda brought up safety to Edwards which started all of this for him. Who did that come from, Rumph? Or his boss Diaz? Ultimately Diaz has a responsibility for identifying and recruiting these kids as well. And then Richt is responsible as well at the top. Majority of the time it's not just one guy recruiting either.

And Henderson even called Mike Rumph his favorite coach. This kids have been flaky as **** too lets not forget. How many times did Henderson show up on campus? How many leaders did Edwards have? You expect this guy to make wine out of water too? There is only so much the man can do and it's not just one guys job/responsibility even though he is the DB coach.

Rumph is a ******* disaster and a liability. Richt needs to do what is in the best interest of his family and their livelihood and the university of miami.

He must fire Rumph.
I guess you didn't see how our db's improve 1000% this year.

Still won't take us to where this program belongs if we're constantly doing it without elite talent.

Banda being so close to Edwards probably held us back a little in the process. Thought he wasn't going to be used exclusively at corner by our staff which is what he wanted

Bandy was all Cane--he just never had an offer. Losing Henderson and Edwards means failure this year. I don't want to hear any talk of next year's CB class being amazing. Thats a loser's mentality.

Well considering this recruiting cycle is over, talking and planning for next years class is called good strategy, not a loser's mentality.

Unless you want Rumph to flegellate himself after he's publicly tarred and feathered.

It's over. Nobody would say this was a great performance by him, but all that's left now is to make up for it in the next class.

Unless of course you want to spend the rest of the year bïtching about something that's already done.

I agree that he has struggled in recruiting, but if he can get this group of DBs playing well in 2017 all is forgiven.

Recruiting is only going to come with experience. Better results will come

Generally people either have Sales ability or they don't. And it appears Rumph isn't too strong in that area. Not saying it can't change, but I'm not that confident we clean up with CBs in 2018 like many here except.

We lost most of our local CB talent to Florida, despite having playing time to sell. And we'll have tougher competition (Bama, Clemson, OSU, etc) for the 2018 stud CBs.

I'm sure the system and the things they were asked to do had little/nothing to do with it :/
I guess rumphs coaching abilities had nothing to do with it?...

Agreed. What can ya do, they say one thing then get wishy washy and flip...enjoy your new coach in a year CJ and see you in 2018!

Unless you think Rumph is uniquely talented nationwide as a DB coach there is no reason to think that he couldn't be replaced by someone who has comparable coaching ability and a markedly improved ability to recruit.

Rumph lost a longtime, seemingly rock solid commit in Tyler Byrd to Tennessee a year ago. Couldn't beat out Butch Jones AKA Al Golden 2.0. And now he's gone 0-for-4 in head-to-head battles for South Florida DBs to UF, despite having all the advantages in the world to pitch to recruits (depth chart, aggressive defense, improved on-field product).

What makes anyone think this is going to get better next year when we're vying for even better talent (Campbell/Jobe/Hall/Surtain) against dominant programs? Competing against Bama/Clemson/FSU/LSU is a whole different ballgame than going against Tennessee and Florida. Rumph & Banda don't stand a chance against those schools for DBs without UM ties (Frierson & Blades).

Can't wait to see the excuses some will come up with when Rumph fails to land Campbell.

Another excuse. Outside of RB and WR that should be the easiest position for UM to recruit. Especially with lack of depth and an aggressive style of defense.

Of course he'll be blamed and he should be. 0-for-4 against lowly UF after losing Byrd a year ago. Young followed Richt from UGA to UM last year. What has he accomplished as a recruiter aside from falling on his face?

And now the loaded 2018 DB class will have Bama, Clemson, LSU, and other powerhouses swarming to South Florida. How are Rumph & Banda going to fare against the likes of those schools after he couldn't beat out Tennessee or Florida?

And to throw salt in the wound Byrd ends up at WR for tenn where he catches a whopping zero touchdowns
