I'm Torn

to be fair to Shannon he turned a few offers before he went to TCU.... But, seriously he left The U in a Mess.... Let's not forget he was the Defensive Coordinator from
01-06 before taking over for Coker, it was a much smoother transition then what Golden stepped into.... Say what you want about Golden, a lot of it is deserved but if he left tomorrow the next Head Coach would have something to work with..... Golden's biggest fault might be his loyalty, whether it's towards the player's or to his coaches, but if I'm a player looking to come in, at least I know my coach has some loyalty..... The truth is if this D could play like they did against Florida or the first half of the FSU game I'm not sure we would be complaining as much...... Give Golden a little credit he did find Fisch, and he brought Coley in for 2 reasons.... 1. Offensive Coordinator?
2. Recruiter .... Golden is no dummy let's see what we have this year and then make a decision

I will say I don't understand how people say Golden was not left with talent. Its true he was not left with depth, but he was left with talent. Streeter, Washington, Forston, Lamar Miller, Spence, Vernon and a few others. I'm not saying these guys are elite players or NFL HOF types, but for college football standards, they were pretty good. Now, that talent left a year early which was unfortunate for fans, the team, and even the players themselves since most of them went on to do nothing, but that's not Randy's fault. The depth is Randy's fault, but the talent was there.

The Fisch thing was great. Don't believe he discovered Fisch as much as Fisch was recommended to him, but doesn't matter how he got here. Maybe if Al is ever gone, Fisch will come be the HC and will be smart enough to find a competent DC to run the defense (I know I know, not happening, but it wouldn't be the worst thing to happen)

Does golden get a pass for running off some of the talent that could have helped us win? Safety's Jamal Reid, Latwan Anderson who were both all Americans. Just two name a few.

Start of a brand new 1st round streak

All I gotta say is, we're not going to be losing to USF any time soon. Al has done some good things since he's been here, I just don't see him winning any crystal balls in his career.

If Wandy was better then why doesnt anyone want him even at DC. Not even the mid majors want him. Regardless i dislike them both

I'm not sure, but Randy himself went on a bit of a quest to do some learning from some other coaches. Randy was not a bad guy, and certainly was a pretty good defensive coordinator, but as a head coach, he was in way over his head.

I think Golden is in over his head, although he has a good sense of organization and of course is quite the talker - and probably provides the BOT some reach arounds and tells them glowing words they want to hear.

If he has a glaring fault, it's his inability to change things that don't work. If you're dipping soup with a fork, after a while, you try something else. Not Golden. He's still dipping.

And you'll also note the absolute lack of game day adjustments in a timely manner. I just think the game is moving too fast for him. And I know it's moving too fast for Dorito.

all BS aside, you make good points. Why you get so testy and personal with others on here like your a 12 YO? Again good points,

not sure why it would matter. a loss is a loss. All I know is that DUKE would have destroyed that USF team that SHannon lost to.

One would think I would be dealing with intelligent people. Scheme meaning 4-3 to 3-4.

But since u bring it up, maybe golden should have offered his wife to Shannon for his playbook since his seems like ****.

Sorry Nikola Tesla, guess I'm not as bright as you. You're right though -- a guy who's previously been a defensive coordinator should drop his defensive playbook in order to copy his predecessor. Is that how you do your job?

If after I try and my results are not equal or better, yes I would ask how my predecessor for his formula. You see in the real world you have to adapt or die. I refuse to die.

Non-sequiturs galore with you. Not asking what you do after you fail, I'm asking how do you approach a new task. Do you start with what you're familiar with and what's worked in the past for you, or do you begin by imitating your predecessor despite having no familiarity with their methods?

The question is has it really worked for them. **** if I was a mediocre type of person I guess I would be fine. But I try to be the best so yes I would change my mediocre ways.

That wasn't the question. And you're continuing to spin out from the original argument because you're obviously realizing how retarded your "point" was about changing schemes with a coaching change.

No Anderson quit on RS and Reid was flunking... Not Golden's fault...

+1 for Golden for taking the time to recruit DT's. Oh wait...

/Oh, he recruits them and nobody wants to play for him.

Except the 4 that we signed this year. Don't let pesky facts get in the way of your agenda.

We're relying on Corey King and Earl Moore to carry the load next year at that position next year.

We sign three 3* DT's last year and one 4* and suddenly he's absolved for previously failing to recruit this position?

A big reason our defense has been shredded throughout the Golden era (and why we have huge concerns at the position for next year) is that we've failed to recruit difference makers at DT.

Don't let your agenda of slurping anything Golden get in the way of the harsh reality that failing to recruit (and develop) the position for that matter has been a big reason our defense has struggled.

Golden just signed the best DT class on paper ever and Chicagnego says DT's don't want to play for Golden and has the gall to say others have an agenda.

Yeah makes total sense buddy.

Stopped reading after "Golden just signed the best DT class on paper ever." Golden could have signed a blow-up doll to play DT in last year's class and it would have been his best haul DT in his tenure at Miami.

Don't let your agenda of hating on Golden get in the way of understanding that most rational, normal people are waiting to give him a chance to prove himself.

Three full seasons and zero improvement on defense tells me all I need to know about Al Golden. I'd love to be wrong, but evidence he is in over his head is overwhelming.

Seriously, how many years do you want to give this guy? If we'd shown improvement along the way I'd be plenty more patient. But the idea that we're trending upward is a joke.

But there have been trends under Al:

You call people who want to give him a chance to prove himself rational. I look at the complete lack of improvement and call those same fans neutered.

Signing Moten and Wyche was a pretty good haul. I'm putting my money on Pierre and either Wyche or Heurtelou to be the starters. We still need drastic improvement at the position, but Moten and Wyche were a **** fine start.

You're right, except it wasn't a start. This was his fourth recruiting class (third if you discount 2011). To say signing a Michael Wyche or Anthony Moten is long overdue is the understatement of the century.

What's absolutely terrifying is that we need Michael Wyche to come in and make a big difference or we are ****ed. That's the position Golden has put this team in.

Win trend under Al Golden:

6 to 7 to 9.

To me -- and this is just to me -- this is TREMENDOUSLY more important than any defensive statistic you put up.

What's truly hilarious about your's and the mope squad's view, is that you want to fire Al Golden after 3 years where his win total has increased every year. Thank god you guys aren't running the show, we'd have turnover every 2-3 years.

While year four isn't in the books yet, I'd say it's fair to compare their first three. Having said that, why bother? You're basically comparing two turds and does it really matter which smells worse?

Out of curiosity....how are Jamal Reid and Latwan Anderson football careers doing?
