The excuse making in here is ****** pathetic.
beyond pathetic

Having players drafted, or lack there of. Is not the reason for play this season.
That wasn't the point of the thread. I was just talking in general about the overall talent of the team.
I think the team is not talented enough to stand toe-to-toe with FSU, Alabama and some of the other top teams, but is talented enough to win the Coastal division. Even with some of the JAGs we play on D, are you telling me that Wake, Duke, and several other teams in the country wouldn't trade a bunch of their players for ours?
Do we have some JAGs that play too much, especially on D? Absolutely. But I think we also have to recognize that some of those JAGs are playing ahead of players brought in by Golden, which calls into question why. Raphael Kirby is a RS freshman. He's been here long enough now to be able to make a difference, but he sits behind Jimmy Gaines. Alex Figueroa played in prep school, was here in the spring, and is built like a man, but he plays behind Cornelius. Why? Jelani Hamilton and Hoilett can't get on the field over Shayon Green and David Gilbert. Jamal Carter is a true freshman and shouldn't be expected to be ready to play, but guess what, with 30 and 22 struggling like they have, and 2 not being healthy, it's time for him to find a way to step it up.
Ultimately, it doesn't take too much convincing to believe that we're not at the level of FSU yet from a talent perspective. But lack of talent is not an excuse at this point for getting gashed by mediocre offenses like Florida, UNC, Wake and VT.
Way to quote me and then speak about how we should be better than we are. That wasn't the point. I am speaking in general about the talent of the team. Not performance or what they should be doing. Why keep bringing up duke. They played godawful against vt and only won because vt screwed up. There was nothing duke in that game that should be commended.
We don't have studs on the D-line, so let's go ahead and employ a 2-gap scheme, which requires your players to be more talented. Good call. That alone makes our D-line look worse than they are.
Then let's tell the rest of our defensive players to fully engage blockers. Let's not use our speed anywhere on defense.
Avoiding blocks and getting penetration is not our brand anymore.
Also, we're gonna play loose coverage. We'll give you 7 yard completions cause we're scared of being beat over the top.

How can you expect to have a conversation about football talent and not talk about results? It's not a beauty contest. If it's your claim that we're not very talented, how did you come to that determination? Did you watch them play, or did you just stand there and stare at them in a thong?

No but my point was to ask about the overall talent of the team. This isnt a defensive question. People are answering the question the same way " we have more talent than to allow 500 yds to VT" and I agree but to me that doesnt answer the question.

OK. How about this: Talented enough to not get dragged around the field by our ********s on D, and talented enough to score more points and sustain more drives on O. In other words, talented enough to do better than we've been doing.
