Other than Cam, we aren't getting the top portal guys though. We aren't the fresh start school.

We can win an ACC Title with an offense that is great but not elite and a much-improved defense, especially considering that even with the somewhat blah recruiting year, it is still the best class in the conference.

Same, I’m not pessimistic on firing him like a lot of others are, I just think he needs more help, a lot more help. He needs an elite roster and elite coordinators

2019, 2021, and now 2024. All Mario teams that controlled their destiny late and blew it in ridiculous fashion. He is who he is, and while our defense can improve (nowhere to go but up) our offense will be nowhere near as special and our schedule will never be as easy. He did kill the QB killer & caveman narrative for me though, which is cool. But the overall stench of him being an underwhelming HC and falling short and doing less with more, is still there.

I hear you brother, and trust me I was not surprised at all yesterday's result nor was I expecting a win. The most shocking part of yesterday was the 21-0 lead.

Whether it's Mario, Manny, richt...it doesn't matter. This is what we do. And until we have superior elite talent like the elites, we will have let downs.

Objectively speaking also, GT would be a ranked team if Haynes King wasn't injured and they lost games during that span and took georgia to 8 OTs. Cuse, I expect will be ranked tommorow. Those aren't horrible teams like losing to a wake or something.

But point being, I agree we cannot let up on recruiting and portal. We need a top 8 class this year and elite portal haul. Miami needs to go into every game with a huge talent advantage.

Ijs very few teams and coaches stay perfect.

Lane blew it against Florida and Kentucky.

Day lost against a ****** Michigan team.

ND lost to freaking NIU.

James Franklin can't beat good teams.

Bama lost 3 games this year.

There is no perfect coach. Saban set a very high standard so I'm not gonna pretend firing Mario and getting a new coach is the fix.

I've seen enough coaches come in and fail to believe any different. We need talent, end of story.

And not a dumb *** DC. That needs to be fixed.
 
We need a real GM to oversee everything. Let Mario be figure head only, really what all the established guys are. Let someone else do all the hiring.
 
Here is a big concern, other coaches don’t want to coach under Mario. We will have to really open the $$ and overpay to improve this substandard staff. Look at the top teams, their staffs are light years better.

First of all, if we had Kiffin right now, you guys would be running him out of town as well. My post was more about how to fix this in the immediate.

The No. 1 way to build a consistently dominant program is through high school recruiting. Full stop.

But if you want to win 10 games again next season, the kids in the '25 and '26 classes aren't going to be much help.

Hugh Freeze refused to pay $1 million for a portal QB, Auburn sucked because they didn’t have a QB, I’m sure he’s changed his stance on that now.

Same with Dabo, I’m sure they’ll get aggressive there as well now

Agreed. Every year is a “rebuild” to some extent in the portal era. Every player that is not out of eligibility is an unrestricted free agent.

That is why it’s important to have a coach who has good organization (including financial backing) and who is a good recruiter. Mario has had some key misses, especially on defense, and needs to get the defensive staff correct. But he’s going to give UM a roster with at least an outside shot at the CFP every year.

I think the fears of this being a 1-year window and UM going back to being a .500 team are overblown. I understand the concerns about Mario’s downsides and think they are legitimate, but his major strength is well adapted to the current climate.

You absolutely do NOT build a sustained winner through the portal. But addressing four positions in the portal to try and win 10 games is "merely plugging a few holes", so I am pretty sure you are agreeing with me?

Of course, nobody disputes that. Problem being missing on those top targets, then what. Fast paced game and a card laid (DJ U at FSU)_is a card played.

This will be like his third wholesale staffing change in 4 years. Seems like a patch job for a bigger issue which is that Mario doesn't seem to know what he is doing. How much more rope will Radakovich give him? Remember, Dan didn't hire him. He was thrusted onto to him by the new president and Rudy Fernandez. Radakovich should have the opportunity to pick his own guy once this runs it's course at the end of 25' or 26'

This roster has massive holes, IMO

Losing massive production after this year as well

And I **** sure don’t want to be out of hope because we didn’t address needs and depth pieces

This year we were pretty **** healthy in the most part, got very lucky, next year could be different

Alright, so let's fire everyone and start from scratch. Who are we hiring? The same Lane Kiffin who lost to UF? Glenn Schumann with zero head coaching experience? Kalen DeBoer who got blown at by Oklahoma? Hugh Freeze?

This school isn’t serious about winning and hasn’t been for decades.

People think that because our admin opened the checkbook for Mario that they are serious. That actually shows what a clown show the admin is and always will be.
