Head Coach Candidates

1. Will Wade, McNeese St. - The man is a program changer and a winner. Has won everywhere he's gone and knows how to go from last to first. With NIL now in play, shouldn't be any worries on NCAAA and illegal payments.
2. Ben McCollum, Drake - Hottest name in college basketball right now. Great track record at the D2 level, but super impressive the start he's gotten off to at Drake.
3. Bucky McMillan, Samford - Bucky Ball in Miami wouldn't be such a bad thing. A winning, uptempo style of play in the ACC could do wonders in recruiting. Has turned Samford into one of the top mid-majors in the country.

Will Wade is a sleazeball and that matters.

Names I'd like to see considered (in no particular order)

Niko Medved
Orlando Antigua
Shaka Smart
Mark Schmidt
Norm Roberts
Brian Michaelson
Anthony Grant (He's not an awful choice and will be on the list so he's included)

I've heard people say the same thing about John Calipari, Danny Hurley, Rick Pitino, and Billy Donovan, just to name a few. And that's just on the basketball side. On the football side it's been repeatedly said about Jimmy Johnson, Nick Saban and Bill Belichick. Aside from people calling them sleazeballs, guess what else they have in common? They've all won the ultimate prize.

Listen, I get it. We all want our guy to be perfect, or close to it. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of those around, at least not the winning kind. I get some having trepidation over the NCAA investigation and show cause he was hit with, but I don't get why Wade is so disliked on a personal level. At the end of the day, it isn't like he committed a crime. He was recorded on a telephone call discussing payment to a prospect. Everyone winning did it then, except he got caught. And now that we have NIL, I would certainly consider hiring him and hope as he's gotten older, he matures, gets wiser and doesn't forget how to coach winning basketball.

Shaka would be a home run hire. I don't see how anyone lures him away from Marquette. He's a Wisconsin boy, grew up in Madison. Has the program humming. Just don't see it, but that would be a home run for sure.

Norm used to coach the Johnnies. Nice guy, very respected, wouldn't want him back in Queens. I think you can do better than NR.

Because unlike the rest of those names Will Wade is a bad guy with no honor at all. I’m not talking about following every rule, I’m talking about basic integrity. And this is from people who actually know the inside scoop.

Brian Michaelson & Justin Joyner are two assistants I think will be very good Head Coaches once they get an opportunity.

It wouldn't be invigorate the fanbase, but I wouldn't be opposed to hiring an experienced savvy assistant that comes from winning programs like Gonzaga, ST. Mary's, San Diego ST etc..

The thing about Shaka Smart, is he strikes me as the type of Coach that's always looking for the next opportunity. I don't think he's a guy that Coaching in his hometown would tug on his heartstrings enough to keep him from going to the next best thing.

If we offered him a nice contract, I would guess he would at least consider it.

Any of these 3 would be home runs
