They've been bad this year but Matt Langel at Colgate is another person I'd look at and has extensive east coast ties.
Also local to ETSU and graduated with my masters from there and I advocated for Forbes on here before L saved his *** by making the elite 8 and final 4 run.I'd try two in-conference ACC names and make them tell me no before I go after any pipe dreams or mid-major guys, honestly.
1) Steve Forbes at Wake Forest. He's a charismatic dude, really good recruiter. Keeps tabs on the JUCO level for players (because that's where he started his coaching career). I got to see him really rebuild ETSU into a contender again since I was relatively local to Johnson City, TN, and that ETSU team in the Covid year was probably gonna be a Sweet 16 team until they cancelled the tourney. That's pretty much what got him the Wake Forest job. He had a .751 winning percentage at ETSU in 5 seasons, and a .580 one so far at Wake in 5 seasons.
I feel like his style of coaching would fit really well at Miami. He gets guys who are bucket-getters and lets them play. His teams are always really good defensively, and like to cause turnovers to get out in transition. I've stumped for him every time we've discussed coaching candidates. I'd make a call to him and see if he wants to make the move from Winston-Salem. We could give him more NIL to work with.
2) Andy Enfield at SMU. I think everyone who follows college basketball knows his track record, especially within the state of Florida. FSU assistant, FGCU's first Cinderella season with their run to the Sweet 16. Spent 11 years at USC and had a .599 winning percentage with 5 (6 if you count Covid year) appearances in the NCAAT, including an Elite 8 appearance.
Again - a guard-oriented coach that prioritizes perimeter scorers and defense. I won't pretend to know his recruiting record, but he's had success elsewhere and does know the state of Florida.
This has to be bull****. No way Golden leaves Florida. I'd take T.J. if he is seriously interested.I know nothing about any of these guys but the Iowa St and Florida coaches have their teams on fire right now. I think if you can win in Ames, IA you could win anywhere.
NoneI’ve seen Sampson’s name mentioned by multiple people now. Is there a reason people think he would leave Houston?
NoYou guys think Enfield could be enticed outta SMU after just one season?
Iowa State has a LONG winning tradition in hoops. Much more so than we have.
Strong, avid fan base as well.Iowa State has a LONG winning tradition in hoops. Much more so than we have.

His father is Bill Murray. THE Bill Murray.Luke Murray, assistant coach UConn
Assistants are extremely risky, Miami can and should go after young coaches that have succeeded as THE GUY.Luke Murray, assistant coach UConn is the guy who has built the back to back champions.
Hurley is getting the credit for his work.
Kimani Young is the only other person Dan Radakovich should consider.
No need to go with a current head coach
Go with a young guy who understands how to build a program in the new era of college basketball.

Reading comments on The Boneyard (UConn Board) about him. The posters are calling him a genius and praying they can keep him for 3-5 years before he becomes a HC. They speak glowingly about his offense, his work ethic and he seems like a good recruiter.
This guy is intriguing me, people.
Good enough for me, unfortunately Radakovich dgaf about basketball so he’ll hire whatever dufus gets the first interview off of recommendationThank you for sharing that information. I have seen and read similar things about him.
The Assistant coach becoming HC perspective is accurate but in the new era of college basketball with NIL, the playing field is completely different now.
Plus, his strengths have been the weakness of Canes hoops for a while now. His offense, work ethic and good recruiter.
I still think he is better than a good mid major coach.
It says a lot that UConn fans don't want him to leave. A LOT.
Two UConn assistants are good candidates. Murray and Kimani Young the AHC.
Kimani coached under Richard Pitino at FIU (so he's lived in S Fla and may see the appeal) and Minnesota. He's known for his defense and has turned out quality guards, two were lottery picks including RJ Cole.
Young is seen by some as the successor to Hurley
I am curious how this parallels the people here praising Caputo, but you are closer to it than I am.It says a lot about Young and Murray that people at UConn are already talking about one of them being a successor to Hurley.
It's interesting because it's not like Hurley is 70+ years old and I don't know if any health issues he has had.
That is enough proof that they know those guys are good and will be in high demand.
That's more than enough for me to hire one of them at Miami.
