Head Coach Candidates

lol I was just making a reference to how his Bowling Green tenure ended.

**** of a coach though.
I don't even know what you mean. I only know him now cause of speaking with him over the last two years off and on now for nephew. What happened at bowling green? Is it a Google moment?

Might want to keep an eye on Mick Cronin. Definitely doesn’t seem like he’s thrilled with UCLA’s current setup right now

Another name out of the Big West is Eric Olen from UC San Diego. He worked wonders guiding them out of Div 2, albeit after a bit of expected struggles entering Div 1. They just beat #22 Utah State the other night.

Has a winning history and I'd take Tyler McGhie assuming he has a Covid year left

2 of 3 names here are on my wish list. The more and more I think about it, I really like Wade. Proven winner. Young. Good recruiter. Seriously, what's not to like?

NCAA probation.
You are right about Will Wade. All of the things you mentioned are true but there is a perception that he is shady.
Whether or not it's true, I don't know.
The LSU situation was odd, like he left town before things got bad.

Yeah, I don't get it. Wade wasn't caught with an undergrad or on a DUI. I t was a phone call offering a prospect a money bag. Didn't do anything most winning coaches haven't done in the past. Like, it baffles me how some folks don't understand that most top high school prospects have been getting money from college programs for decades. Now, they just put a name on it (NIL) and made it legal. Wade should be our #1 target.

I don't know about #1 on the list but he should be on the list.
It's not like Wade wouldn't do a good job but this is a complete rebuild. I don't expect Wade or any HC to make the NCAA tournament next season.
Wade will probably create some unrealistic expectations for next season.

Who gives a F about expectations when the current team is dog 💩 and trending not to win another game the rest of the way. Just get the best guy possible and call it a day.

Inside the business Wade is known to be shady and not someone who can be trusted. That’s why he is where he’s at. Everybody knows he can win.

A few other names to throw on the radar:

Ryan Odom (VCU) - was an assistant at Va Tech for many years and has taken Utah State and UMBC to the tournament - including knocking off UVA in 2018. Could also end up being in the mix for the UVA job.

Ben McCollum (Drake) - Meteoric rise after being an uber-successful coach in D-2. Someone at a big program is going to give him a look.

Richard Pitino (New Mexico) - Pretty obvious ties to Miami given the one year at FIU. Took Minnesota to two tourneys and a NIT title in 8 years. Has quietly done a really good job at New Mexico.

Bryce Drew (Grand Canyon) - 3 tournaments in 5 years at GCU, including a 30 win campaign last year.

Looked at Bryce Drew record, did pretty bad at Vanderbilt. Is there something else there?
