Grimble no longer on team, now at Oregon St.

Get rid of Perry, Dewey and one of the WR that is buried on the chart (Jones?). That would give us room for 3-4 ships lost next year while still being able to bring in a 25 -26 man class with the use of some EE.

Can Jones get a second year before we decide to run him out? If a guy like Davon Johnson can stick it out after multiple position switches and become our most sure-handed WR before his injury, I'm willing to wait on Jones to see what he has got.

The issue isn't so much Jones as it is the reality of the WR position. This is the deepest and most talented position on the whole team (OL close second). There are 5 guys who could legitimately start, there is only 1 senior among them and you prolly got Dixon and maybe Berrios or Rudolph along with Langham coming in next year. The kid is realistically not going to see the field even if he is a decent WR. It just isn't happening. Give him a place he can play and save a ship.

The kid didn't work out, so be it. But to use him as an example as to how horrible the star system is childish.

The star system doesn't measure HEART, it measures TALENT.

Grimble didn't pan out because he didn't want to commit himself to moving the DT position and bulking up like a DT should. Point. Blank. Period.

Al Golden is doing what any smart coach would do, cut the deadweight and move along with the kids that are doing the things it takes to be elite. This is about more than ACC Championships (although we could use a few), it's about Miami's birthright as perennial National Champions.

#DeserveVictory

I hate when people do thinks like question a player's heart. He didn't make a play, that's talent. Unless you where at the workout, you have no idea how hard he worked.

**** I wish young mr. Gimble well in his journey. I am thinking this clears way to add another DT to the 2014 Class in addition to the the other 2 spots UM is looking to fill for the class.

As a Cane fan I would've assumed we've all stopped locking kids in this far ahead of signing day. Specifically ones that aren't even committed. Berrios doesn't provide the same skill set as Jones. Neither does Rudolph. The defense recruits for specific roles. I assume the offense does as well. Neither is a guaranteed commit. Too many unknowns at this point to already be looking to push Jones out. Does a great year from Dorsett have him looking to leave early with Morris leaving? What about Scott? He is the most physically gifted after Coley. No idea what the depth chart will look like.

It would be nice to not have to depend a freshman or sophomore as well. Nothing wrong with developing guys who really don't contribute until their 3rd or 4th year. If the coaches evaluations were correct, then there is no reason why Jones can't bide his time until older guys leave. He steps in as a seasoned player.

First, I am all for cutting dead weight. You earn your scholly based your effort & abilities. Don't have them? GTFO! IF you are half-decent, you will find yourself somewhere else w/o much of an issue. It doesn't mean the player didn't do anything wrong...if they can't contribute, it's time to let them go somewhere where they can and move on.
Second, if this was a player at Alabama everyone would be ripping Saban.
If this was a player as OSU everyone would be ripping Meyer.
See the trend? Championship-minded coaches simply do this. Earn your keep, or GTFO.

I think where some coaches get low is HOW they do it -- cut them loose, don't use things like medically unqualified out of notwhere.

Too soon to give up on Jones, even with all the WR depth. He's got talent.

Players transfer all the time

Why are there sooo many pages on this issue

One of the QBs is going to transfer next season. And a WR will transfer the season after that. It happens.

We just took in 4 transfers on the D-line alone. We took another team's "dead weight" and are praising them before even playing a down

Wish Mr Grimble luck. He will be another teams great addition

Zino, there's a lot of pages because it's at a position we were notoriously weak at last season. Everyone is wondering what this move means, but until the bullets start flying, none of us have a clue. Chatter.

Im guessing that since he didnt redshirt, if he were to bail before classes started, he can redshirt this year and still have two left to play somewhere else. That might explain the quickness of his departure.

As for where he lands, the obvious guess is UNLV.

Wish him well.

Didn't Golden recently make comments about being aware of what guys do when they leave practice? Who's grinding and who's on twitter or playing video games?

Golden clearly has spies working for him. Clearly.

Looks like old BlemBlem the USC fan from Canestime was right about this kid afterall. If only he were alive to see it all unfold.

When you think about it, he's about to enter his junior season and by judging by this thread, nobody thought he was going to be a factor in the rotation.

In all honesty a transfer and redshirt could do him well. He should be a redshirt sophmore but was forced into action because of our awful depth. Kid's still young and needs time to develop.

a former 5 star got beat out on depth chart by a 3 star in moore and a 2 star in corey king. thats life. now if perry can move on, it would free up some more space.

The scary thing is this kid was getting burn as a true freshman, and now he's basically being told thanks but no thanks. Thats how pathetic our DT depth was at one point

Agreed... Golden had to do what he had to do to flip the roster. Thankfully we are now at the point where guys are going to have to earn a spot on this roster. Only the strong is going to survive.
