Grimble no longer on team, now at Oregon St.

This would light a fire under my *** to make sure I straighten up if I too were slacking off.

Golden just gets it

Some of the worst tape I've ever seen from a 5-star prospect. Right up there with Charlie Jones.

Lulz, remember the year after having to play Gore our coach hyping up Jones. Went head up with him and was like, this aint no top back in dade... Went down too easy for a guy going BCS D1 getting tackled by smaller high school talent

this will clear playing time for the young DT's we signed in the 13' class...oh waitttt

no disrespect we still need bodies (even if its practice squad) we need insurance up the middle if we have injuries

i know i know at the end of the day its probably the right move.. but we need bodies, we now have very little insurance up the middle
That was my initial reaction as well but ultimately I trust that Golden knows what he's doing.

Clearing the way for the guys busting their asses everyday, not to mention Valentines Day and Stuckey en route.

That takes us back down to 79 ships. 78 when Dewey transfers which I expect any day now. Add in Derosier and you are up to 79 again.

Golden keeps getting rid of dead weight so he can bring in them coal shovelers.

This class is gonna be massive.

I think the Coaches ok'd the decision b/c they must feel that they have enough bodies to not have to worry about him.... especially this year.

And if you are worried about next year, there is going to be enough "more developed" depth not to miss him then either. ex Corey King and Earl Moore

Then Add a Juco like Dalvon Stuckey, T. Valentine is going to get some playing time, U. Kamala, and J. Hamilton will rotate as DTs as well.

Also who knows the staff could be looking for other Graduates who want to play at Miami and some more Jucos.... i dont think there is anything to worry about w/ losing him at all.

I'm not worried about numbers for this season. We'll have a solid rotation.

And right now the numbers don't look good for next season but I have absolute faith that Golden is gonna scour the earth to find bodies.

This really came out of nowhere if he's gone.

I could've sworn his pictures from today's practices got posted on ITU.

I could have sworn Golden mentioned him the other day concerning depth, etc. I hope he's not off the roster but if he is then...well he hasn't done much up to this point.

lol Naw the only time Golden even slightly mentioned him was when a reporter asked about him.

Thats when he lumped him in the group w/ Earl Moore and Corey King, and i think he just did that b/c he didnt want to embarrass Grimble like that to the reporter....its obvious 2 me those 2 were further ahead then he was.

Bodies aren't really the issues as much as serviceable bodies. The term JAG gets thrown around but a JAG is at least serviceable, something that certain players on the DL can't even claim.

The numbers are fine. We actually have a ton of bodies at DT and DE for 2014. Not sure how many can actually play but we do have the numbers.

We have about 15 DL on scholie for next year if you take into account expected recruits.

Keep in mind it looks like we are slowly but surely moving to a 3-4 so we won't need as many DL. Actually you can kind of see how the personnel is already dictating a 3-4. They've got 2 badass edge rushers in McCord and Quan at OLB and the 3-4 needs beefier interior LB cause they have to deal with the uncovered guard. I expect Figs to be well into the 240s by next year as well as Kirby. Chick is getting too big for a 4-3 DE and Hamilton is already way too big for it so you've got your DEs in the 3-4 that can hold the point. Pierre will prolly be the nose.

Dude was buried on the depth chart with the addition of the new guys and the move of Hamilton to DT. Wouldn't be surprised if Al had the heart to heart with him about his playing time. Maybe even told him he would redshirt and the kid bounced instead of competing.

Kid was too much of a tweener between DT and DE. Just didn't work out, good luck to him.

Grimble had no talent... We have several more talentless players on this team...we all know who they are... Lets just hope they purge themselves from this team...

The kid didn't work out, so be it. But to use him as an example as to how horrible the star system is childish.

The star system doesn't measure HEART, it measures TALENT.

Grimble didn't pan out because he didn't want to commit himself to moving the DT position and bulking up like a DT should. Point. Blank. Period.

Al Golden is doing what any smart coach would do, cut the deadweight and move along with the kids that are doing the things it takes to be elite. This is about more than ACC Championships (although we could use a few), it's about Miami's birthright as perennial National Champions.
