Grimble no longer on team, now at Oregon St.

This really came out of nowhere if he's gone.

I could've sworn his pictures from today's practices got posted on ITU.

I could have sworn Golden mentioned him the other day concerning depth, etc. I hope he's not off the roster but if he is then...well he hasn't done much up to this point.

lol Naw the only time Golden even slightly mentioned him was when a reporter asked about him.

Thats when he lumped him in the group w/ Earl Moore and Corey King, and i think he just did that b/c he didnt want to embarrass Grimble like that to the reporter....its obvious 2 me those 2 were further ahead then he was.

I realize that. All I said is that I thought I remember AG mentioning him. Not that he'd be in the starting rotation or anything.

i was just saying that he didnt mention depth as a concern as far as Grimble providing depth, when he answered the question.

I agree with the poster that said Al sat him down and offered him a redshirt. JG said F that and kicked rocks. I highly doubt Al told dude he couldnt hack it here. Especially seeing that JG wasnt really given a fair shake. Buddy should never have had to have been thrown into the fire as a true. 5 star or not. You have to be SUPER special to do that. I cant think of any DT in our era that did it and was super succesful down the road. Pat Riley, Damione Lewis come to mind as the only ones. All the other greats redshirted. Oh well..

I agree that its possible that AG asked him to redshirt but..... JG wasnt given a "fair shake"???? r u ***n serious??

Briscoe gave up on the team all together. He had the size to still help this team on the offensive side of the ball, but couldn't wrap his head around that opportunity. Ivery was young, and must not have been taking very well to the coaching. Grimble, has been here for a bit, and was moved around to see where the team could see a spark fro him, but it never happened.

Out of the three, we probably could have stuck with Ivery a bit more, to see how he panned out. The biggest problem was the spacing of guys as far as eligibility. You had all those sophmores at the same position, during last recruiting cycle, which most likely hurt our recruiting efforts. Not only that, only 2might have really helped you this year (even though Only Early Moore may be ready now), the rest are dead bodies the roster has to carry for no reason.

As it stands, there's more spacing, and the Sophs get more time to get ready to help when Porter and Robinson graduate, and we get to clear space for young guys to come in to start the meat market thing all over again (LULZ).

But Im glad we're going the JUCO route, its the best bet in the trenches on defense these days.

I guess most of us (including myself) jumped into conclusions thinking he was a problem on the team but i dont think Golden believed that at all after watching his interview today.

Golden sounded like he wanted him to provide depth (so i was wrong on that note) but Grimble just wanted to get a better opportunity somewhere else.... i'm assuming he wants to go somewhere where he is guaranteed to start his final 2 years of eligibility.

I just hope to god this isn't a case of a defensive tackle being knocked down on the depth chart bc he "won't take to coaching" and keeps trying to make plays. We all know how Coach D coaches these d lineman to fill space and take on blockers and by all accounts he's the bad cop out of the bad cop-good cop routine. Coach D is relentless and hard and I like that but I just hope he's not sacrificing a talent to make a point. I've seen coaches do this before, and in the long run it pays off but sometimes it sacrifices a player or two and I've just never liked that side of it bc I've always been of the mindset that every player is deserving of coaching and love and you don't just pick out a couple to play hard *** with to make a point to the rest. Coaches do this **** all the time and alot of times it makes them successful but it's not a prerequisite of success either. I'm not saying it's happening here. I'm just hoping it's not. Bc based on that interview Golden still saw something in him and said he was a quality young man so it's disappointing.

I will say regardless of coaching that rarely does a player quit and leave and be successful. I've seen coaches sacrifice early success of a player by riding em hard and knocking him down and then when they break like a ******* horse, the coach builds em up and they get it done later on. So I wish regardless of the situation, Grimble would've stuck it out. As tough as that might be, that's usually the better way to success than quitting and going elsewhere. I just like to see in these situations a mediator step in and say hey bud, stick with it. Disappointed for sure.

another 5* bust...

Watch he turn into another Arthur Brown

Always "half empty" with you.
Who else do you have besides Arthur Brown?
You could have said Kendal Thompkins but I'm guessing your fairly obvious point is that Golden might be letting a stud get away.

Maybe Grimble figures he's never cracking the 2 deep at Miami and wants an opportunity to showcase, what he thinks, are NFL abilities.
I think it speaks volumes about the current state of our d line that a 3rd year, former 4/5 star de/dt knows he has zero options here because of our current depth.
