Golden's First Press Conference Notes (Long)

Holy cow are none of you familiar with coach speak?
Blaming facilities is not coach speak.

. We sat here a year ago and didn't know what the future held. We didn't have the fields, a medical center going up, the training table. So there's been a great transition here in the last 12, 13 months. … as bleak as it was a year ago, we're equally excited now

There is a difference between blaming something and pointing out facts. He stated the facilities were sub-par which is true and also noted the big improvement in that area over the last year or so. Dont have a single problem with this statement
Yes there is nothing wrong if that was the question that was asked. He was asked if we can compete with FSU this year. Saban, Fisher,Briles would have said we could compete with anyone in the country. He pretty said the facilities are why we aren't where we are and that's why we are not focus on them. That makes no sense.it's a huge rival game.

He was asked how he could catch up with FSU, facilities are a part of that. Sure it would have been great if gave us the rah rah were gunna smack FSU anyway but i dont have a problem with what he said.

If you read/heard what Golden said about the facilites, I really don't understand how you can think he is using that as an excuse for us against FSU this year. Did he answer the exact question, not really. He still gave an answer, and all he's saying is we are not FSU, and that we are finally getting it together with the facilities, and everything is ready to win now. We now have the facilities, we have the depth, we have the talent, we have the experience; All that is left is to win.

@CanesFootball: Golden anticipates Trayone Gray to open at RB. Says he can play WR or wildcat QB, too. "Very good athlete. Big, strong kid."

Interesting

Its amazing how many plans they have for a kid that wasnt even here the whole year. shows his true value.

that's the beauty of him, we can use him in multiple places this year. Can you imagine him late in the game coming in fresh, after the backs we have and the receivers have done their thing. Gore coming in after McGahee and Portis and maybe even Jackson.

Just hope he doesnt become Jason Geathers. Teased us with brilliance for years but never reached his full potential because we ****ed him around too much.

That was on clappy!!!

Gray & coley on the same field. LAAWWDDDD

plus duke, waters, and dorsett....too much speed and talent. They gotta find a way to all the talent on the field at one time, will drive defenses crazy

Golden says he's not worried about #FSU "we're on a different course, a different path. We're excited about the direction we're going."

different path? they just won the motherf*cking National Championship... all paths are lead by wanting to win it all.

I was thinking the same thing. I guess winning championships isn't a goal.

Lmao some people will come up with there own narrative man. Really funny stuff

If all you want to do is **** on AG then just say so. It was obvious coach speak for we are only worrying about us and what we do, and what we are and what we can control. He is basically saying we are trying to do it our way, we are not FSU and we will take our own path... was it too difficult to see through your general hatred for the man to see that? Come on guys... is nitpicking the presser what we have gotten to?

So if Golden would have answered the question honestly you guys would have been happy? Because that would have sounded something like "closing the gap to FSU would be easier if we had 5-star talent on our third string plus a heisman trophey winning QB". That's the truth. Is that what you want to hear? No, you would have said he's just making excuses about the talent level and depth. Golden can't say anything without people complaining.

That's about right. I was furious with Golden last year laying all the blame with players 'not executing,' 'players out of position,' on and on, when the scheme apparently either suked gnu balls, was too complicated for the players, or wasn't taught to the players enabling them to execute it.

If you're 5'2" and want to be an NBA star, you don't got the goods. Figure something else that you can do.

You can't pack ten pounds of siht in a five pound sack.

These are the things that go right over Al and that catfish-headed DC pretender we're apparently stuck with. They want something, but can't get there with what we've had, and apparently, not many pros can do this crap either.

Is golden your uncle?

Matt Porter ‏@mattyports 41s

Golden asked how to narrow the gap between FSU and UM: "Again, I'm not worried about them." Excited about #Canes' direction

***** what?

I was thinking the same thing

So Golden wouldn't confirm Kevin Olsen's suspension and said that he will absolutely be at practice tomorrow competing. Even said that as far as he knows Olsen will be available to the media tomorrow. Kind of weird that nobody at the school has confirmed the report about the suspension.

Also, I don't get where some fans say Golden is constantly looking for excuses. He says here about the incident with Blue and Figs that he is responsible for every player. After the season when questioned about D'no he said that the defense was his and it's on him to make it better. Seems to me like he takes responsibility. He did bring up the NCAA cloud a lot over the years but he was asked about it mostly. Oh well, looking forward to hearing the reports from camp. Let's get it started.

I think you missed a lot of his post game comments last year. He has a tendency to throw the offense under the bus too to mask the defense's deficiencies.

I agree that made me mad too, that he threw Coley under the bus. We are a team and I felt he was playing sides. When the offense is not exciting which happens defense needs to pick it up and that's simple.

You realize that goals and paths are 2 different things right?

I don't agree with the opinion, but outstanding metaphors!
