Whatever. Golden needs to get the PSU job, or ditch this new moping persona. His depressing demeanor since this crap came out is not helping anyone.

Not sure I believe Munchak said no. That doesn't entirely make sense. Franklin saying no doesn't surprise me at all.

Franklin prob called O'Brien to gauge the realities of the job and O'Brien told him to run the other way.

That's it? That's the backup to OP's major claim?

OP's post is titled "Golden still in play at PSU" and has a link to some article with some random beat writer's speculation that "yea, sure Golden himself said directly that he's committed to the University of Miami, but what if Golden is faking out the entire world?"

CanesInsight is seen as one of the more credible reporting sites, especially after last weekend, so when someone comes to the board and sees a 14 page post titled "Golden still in play at PSU," they don't bother to read the article, they just assume it's true. This is exactly how rumors start, and with the way the world works today, they can be extremely damaging to the program.

Mods need to do a much better job of labeling speculation as such.

Probably the same dude that said he was signed and sealed to peddo st, did they even interview bisaccia?

Corch Cloud hasn't even bothered to call the HC of his most important recruit (Valentine) who de-committed because Cloud dipped out for 3 days and was courting Ped State. That should tell you guys that he's not all-in at UM. He's supposed to be a relentless recruiter, yet he can't be bothered with his most important recruit, who said that he de-committed because of Corch Al's interview with Ped State.

Combine that with his maudlin demeanor since he returned, and you have a guy whose heart and mind are elsewhere. He's still in play until Ped State hires someone else. No doubt about it.
 
As I said yesterday, I expect Golden to take the PSU job today. Not near 100%, but my guess based on what I read.
 
The 7 mil buyout was paid last night by Houston for BOB. They can easily pay Golden's 5 mil buyout.

I'm 100% sure he's not the right guy. So, I'm willing to take any percentage chance that we find the right guy to replace him even if it's a 10% chance. I'm sure others feel the same way, and, while we don't have great confidence that UM will hire the right replacement, we're certain that the current eats ****.
 
They may be negotiating the buyout with Donna. I think she wants Golden gone.

You are going to have to fire the guy next year anyway so let's have PSU pay it. I would come down to 3.5 mil from 5.

The whole situation is a ******* joke. At least Randy didn't try to leave us for a program under sanctions. This dude is incompetent, and he now he doesn't want to be here. That's a bad situation that could really unravel for us.
