With our luck that little hobbit turns around and hires Jeff Ireland to be the next head coach

That's the thing. If Golden leaves, why does anyone think that our dumb *** administration would hire a competent coach? Simply put, we are cheap as **** and that alone will keep us from getting an established coach. This whole situation is really ****ing me off. Forget the other variables involved, I want golden to come out and say that he is 100% committed to us and specifically will not be pursuing the penn state job any further.

Again that's just our our own piece of mind as well as our recruits and current players, that has nothing to do with wanting him to stay at this point. That's a whole other animal. But I don't think we would hire a better coach honestly based on current history and the amount of money (or lack there of) our cheap *** school is willing to pay. Eveni though we have ridiculous tuition rates. What a joke.

Butch Davis is in our price range. Jus sayin'

^This. Donna knows one more slip up on this front and she loses the fan base for good. She will need to look past the previous issues with Butch and realize that he is an inexpensive and perfect solution to the problems. He's already slightly campaigned for the job, a wise move on his part, and he will make things happen. He will win and put people in the seats in a way that hasn't happened since she's been here.

I would kill for the opportunity to interview golden. If I could have just five questions this thing would be settled once and for all. Wish our media had the balls to ask the ******* important questions that force truthful answes

Let's just sit and wait. We all went a little overboard thinking he was signed, sealed and delivered and that was wrong.

That being said, I hope and think he will be PSU's hire by the weekend.

Thats the thing. Golden could easily just say I'm not going anywhere and will be here for 2014 and beyond and am 100% committed. But he just won't say that. So he either doesn't give a **** anymore which I can't imagine or he's praying that the Penn State people call him and offer him the job. Other than that I have no idea why he's acting like a mopey ******.

This has been one of the most entertaining threads I've ever read. Half of us are willingly for Golden to get on with signing this class and the other half of us are desperate fro any bit of news that there may be a chance Golden is still gone. I t would make it easier if we could have a for or against badge under our sig names so we know where each other stands. We also need to get a expert psychologist in here to take a look at Golden's interviews the last few days and tell us what we need to hear. I want Golden to stay, but I don't think I would be surprised if he takes off for PSU this weekend.

Clearly that was put out by penn state to pressure Franklin. No duh

Penn State can't pressure anyone. They're under probation. They're not going to a bowl for two years. They don't hold the cards. Keep pressuring the guy who has NFL interest and interview requests from multiple teams. They and Al deserve each other. Both have a higher opinion of themselves than they should.

i'm all for getting a new coach. but this is probably terrible timing. great recruiting class is the only thing that makes FSU title last night sting a little less. god forbid this recruiting class fell apart due to AG leaving and I don't think we recover.

Butch, or any Miami guy for that matter, would keep this class together and then some.

Who are these "Miami guys" you speak of?

Greg Schiano, Rod Chudzinski, Curtis Johnson. Any guy with Miami ties. I'm not saying those guys per se, but somebody that fits that mold. Golden, for whatever reason, doesn't relate to Miami high school football as effectively as a Miami head coach should. The evidence for that is that other than Valentine, a lot of the other recruits made it known that they were committed to the school, not Golden. Young, Brady, Berrios, McDermott, all of the Booker T. guys, and Kaaya all said they would stick with the school should Golden leave. That's why I think a Miami person, my choice being Butch, would solidify the class and potentially add more recruits that are on the fence.

Yeah man we should go get Randy Shannon. He's a Miami guy through and through. Dude would probably get along with the "Miami HS coaches" realllllll well. Hes from here!!!!!

I just don't see it happening.

Honestly I'm good with him staying or leaving. But if he leaves, you better not count on us getting the right guy to replace him.

You are deliberately misinterpreting my point. Randy was a player trying to be a head coach when, at best, he had career defensive coordinator written all over him. He was a failure for multiple reasons, recruiting and strained high school relationships with the coaches not being the biggest of them. He couldn't manage a game, handle P. R., manage a roster, motivate players, create team depth/competition, and he handed players roles they didn't deserve or earn. He treated 90% of the local high schools like was better than them, didn't reach out to the coaches, and selectively offered players in the top 60 only. Despite being a son of Miami, he turned his back on where he came from, except for Northwestern and we saw how that turned out. The four other guys I mentioned, that you ignored, I believe would not do such a thing. They can really reestablish the Miami bond that Pete says is starting to melt away.

Schiano is known for being a GRADE A+ DOUCHE BAG. The others I have no qualm with.

Schiano is the least likely option in my opinion. He's looking for an NFL position and will bolt Miami as well. That's why I like Butch so much. He's far and away our best talent evaluator and developer and that's where we've been lacking the most. He would turn the team around in 2 seasons and being as old as he is, he wouldn't jump to the NFL.

Looks like better than 50/50 he goes.....

Seems to be an internal battle among the decision makers at Penn State as to whether or not to offer. If they do, I believe we'll be looking for a new coach fellas.

I was all in on Golden for the last couple of years, but the way he has handled things, it's clear his heart is not here.

Are you just speculating?
Because it seems more to me to be a result of PSU doing their due diligence. These things take time for a team on probation.
