I suspect that the backs will probably end up being about like the 1999 unit. After Ed James left we had James Jackson (steady, not spectacular) and an unheralded guy named Clinton Portis. Davenport was supposed to be a factor but got hurt. I am not sure that James/Clements can give us what Jackson gave us (probably, honestly) and I doubt that Duke will far exceed Portis but he has the advantage of being a known factor from the outset. With a solid, unspectacular lead guy and significant contributions from freshmen, we should be decent there. We have to hope Duke does not have fumble-itis which is a freshman tendency, and we have to hope that our passing game is enough to back people off of us.
