Geo's Mega Canes Recruiting Buzz 10/10 - Football Edition

Exactly we get at least one Ohio stage flip a year lol. I think we get Alford and maybe Carter too. But Lowe from USC all the signs point to a flip to the U. Jason Taylor a monster on the trail
I noticed after looking up Lowe , usc don’t recruit like they did in the past . The have a lot less Cali kids than normal . Stars are down but they seem to recruiting in Georgia a lot more

Just being honest. If we had ANY QB other than Cam Ward, we would be 4-2 right now. We would have lost to Va Tech and Cal. We would be eliminated from the ACCCG already. It's a 7 or 8 win team without him.

We lose Ward next year. I'm sure we'll land a good portal QB but the chances of landing another Ward are extremely small.

So the way I look at it is we can't just be getting replacement level players, we need to get players that are difference makers if we want to take the next step or even just avoid slipping backwards next season and the following.
You could argue of we had any other player but cam those games wouldn’t havs been close . Without the turnovers we wouldn’t have needed a come backs to win either

Duck for cover, but….

*whispers*
…I agree

Although, I’d bet on us having some December fireworks if we keep this season up. A lot of high floor guys, but I agree we are lacking some top end immediate high impact guys that get us in that top 5 range. Which is what we need, JMO.
Thise types are going to play the long game and libe their pockets as much as they can and leverage every dollar possible. It will be very different the first week of December.

Half of our top 10 c/o 2024 recruits were not committed to UM this time last year. Like last year, the top of the class still leaves much to be desired, but there is still time.

After last season's close, I am going to give the staff the benefit of the doubt right up until ESD. But relying on late pulls and flips still feels like a wild strategy, lol. Hoping they keep pulling the 🐇 out of the 🎩.

Derek Cooper RB for Chaminade-

Are we recruiting him and how good is he?

I think he had 180 yards on 11 carries including an 80 yd td run against STA tonight in Nade’s win 29-22.

Yes.
5 star. We seem to be front of the pack after he decommitted from UGA. He's one of our top priorities for next year it seems

When we lost Stewart, Stone, Simpson, Scott, Rudolph last recruiting cycle I couldn’t see how we could possibly close with a strong DL class. … yeah, I just don’t worry about that stuff anymore.

We’re ahead of schedule versus last year’s class now. And we ended #4. I have no doubt we’ll close just fine.

This won't be a popular take, but I'm underwhelmed by our class and recruting updates right now. It's good not great and I would have expected more given the season we're having. We have a lot of good players committed and that we are looking good with but where are the difference makers? Where are the game breakers?

Looking ahead after Cam Ward leaves, it would be nice not to take a step back. As much as Nickel is a good player, I'm not seeing elite with him. I'd say the players we have coming in are replacement level at best, but who is going to push us to the next level? Who is the big time playmaker that's going to start day 1 and elevate the room like Williams from Alabama or Smith at Ohio State?

We're a playoff type team now, and so a "Top 10" class isn't good enough anymore. Every team we're going to meet in the playoffs has top 10 classes yearly. I'd like to see us start competing for the #1 class year in and year out, and anything below a top 3 class should be seen as a failure. We need to start pulling in classes like Georgia, Texas, and Alabama. That's who we're going to be playing in the playoffs moving forward.

I 100% agree with this, even the lower rated guys last year like cole, thomas, day, plazz, pruitt, and pickett too before he got a huge bump..Those guys were much better evals than what we have now imo

I still believe we will get it together but at this point this is my least favorite class of the mario era not counting when he only had a couple months in 22

I think the difference between last and this year is we were on those recruits early. Outside of Pickett, VB, and Wilson which big-time top 100 players are we in it for this year? Seems like the staff is betting on a lot of flips because the current non-commited targets are uninspiring.

Just being honest if you remove the best player on any team, any sport in the history of humanity that team is probably worse.

Takes like these make absolutely no sense. He's on the team. Changing reality is not a "take".

Hey guys if the sun doesn't rise tomorrow we all probably die from starvation. Gee whizz no ****

We in on Griffin, Thomas, Ffrench, TJ, and are top 100 guys.

Definitely missing the high-end talent that we pulled in previous years, which is weird considering the on-field success we're having. But i'd bet the class at this point last year wasn't amazing either, so i'm hoping repeats that and pulls off some flips down the stretch

Recruiting to get the top guys doesn’t happen cause you are all the sudden 6-0. The last two years Miami sucked. It doesn’t flip overnight.

Miami needs to start winning big yearly plus have more money to spend before they start to see the very top guys all picking Miami.

Wake me up when it’s December and we can talk. Then wake me up again in spring once we see who transfers. College rosters change so much now that there is no reason to worry about recruiting in the first week of October.

Not sure thee age of some of you but you must not remember Bobby Bowden. He closed his top guys on. NSD every year. Dude was a CLOSER.

Mario is a closer. Who cares if it’s late, last minute, flips or whatever as long as the end result is good. Mario has proven his whole career he can recruit. Recruiting is the last thing ppl should be worried about.

Enjoy the actual football season and then see who signs in December. If Miami misses on some top guys then I’m sure they will spend big in the portal. Cam comes off the books after this year and will free up a lot of cash.

Also if Miami wins the ACC and goes to the playoffs, I’m sure more cash will be funneled into the NIL to spend for next year. These recruits and ppl donating need to see success first in the field. 6-0 isn’t enough.
