I was just in St Augustine this weekend. A lot of gator fans. Almost ridiculous amount of gear being worn.

I hate and love stereotypes. But ****! sometimes you just can’t help yourself.
We started noticing a trend and sht was funny as ****. We would ask for directions or ask for recommendations for local restaurants from anyone with any gata gear just to see how many had at least one missing tooth.
It isn’t a stereotype if it’s true. Sometimes we were up to 50 percent.

you moved to Atlanta?

In process. Currently have 2 yards to mow. The joy...

I know, I know, someone will come here to tell me I should pay someone to do it. I'm the oldest sibling, I've been doing this since I was 7 (my dad was a lazy fvck). I (usually) enjoy it, things just got out of hand lately.

I'm not complaining though, was just trying to give a factual account of what's going on right now.

As someone who works in the lawn equipment industry, there's much better options than John Deere.
I've got a 2004 L130 that's still mowing 2+ acres on the regular.

I'd love to hear your recommendation for my next mower though. I'm thinking zero turn.

There're some rumors going around that he already committed to the U Saturday night,, Can anyone confirm that?
All most of us know is that we’re in a good spot for him. It wouldn’t surprise me if there was a verbal given then but we don’t know and if we did, we wouldn’t want to blow up the kid’s moment to announce on his terms.

It's not that they're particularly bad or anything. Their biggest issue is parts availability or lack thereof. They're really big on dealer support which is great if you're a dealer but not great if you're a consumer. Almost every part outside of minor stuff like belts is only available through their dealer network. So if you need to buy replacement parts or have any service done, you pretty much HAVE to take it to a dealer, who in turn, can charge whatever they want since they're usually the only place in town. Their commercial units even use specific models of Kawasaki engines that non John Deere dealers can't access. I'm a Kawi dealer and if I try to plug one of their model numbers into the parts lookup for Kawi, I'll get a blank screen on the web site. It's crazy.

As for residential Z-turns, there's some good ones out there. I have customers that use the Toro residential models commercially and even though I don't recommend it, they seem to hold up fairly well. I always tell people that whatever brand they choose just make sure that the local dealer is someone you don't mind dealing with. You might find the best mower in the world but if you have to drive three hours just to get a set of blades, it's not worth it.

Understandable. I've been (literally) itching to make a move for a while, I have allergies to all 3 native grasses in FL (St. Augustine is THE WORST). I must say, with everything I've done up here in ATL, my allergies were still not triggered.

My youngest brother moved up to Charlotte and the nephews/nieces are getting older (one at F$U, one at UCF, one starting at University of Flagship in a couple of weeks). So the timing is good. Plus, this will give me a headstart to make occasional trips to the family farm outside of St. Louis. One of my brothers is up there now, fishing & hunting, will probably join him on a couple of those trips next year.

Next few months, though, are all about college football. UM home games plus away trips to College Station, Atlanta (short drive!) and Clemson. Really looking forward to getting to Greenville again and hitting all my favorite BBQ joints.
