Look, we have to call out the Gaytors' absolute BULLSH!TE when it comes to rationalizing their recruiting. Right now, when they are getting whupped on the recruiting trail, they are trying to blow off all of the recruits they miss out on. Because they are from "the West".
Wait a second...Florida wasn't a finalist for Rashada? Oh, yeah, he shouldn't count, he's from "the West". Same with Mauigoa and Wayne and Aguirre and Williams. NOPE. Doesn't count. Not from Florida.
Oh, but I remember a time not so long ago when the Gaytors were PROUD to be "national recruiters" of the very best talent. Remember Chris Steele? Yeah, I barely do either, but he was one of those national guys that the Gaytors (under Mullet) pulled to Hogtown.
And while we're at it, since they claim it's "so refreshing" to be recruiting "Florida players", let's look inside the numbers, shall we?
2023 - 10/12 Florida recruits THUS FAR, Gaypier bump year
2022 - 6/20 Florida recruits, Gaypier transition year
2021 - 14/22 Florida recruits
2020 - 15/24 Florida recruits
2019 - 15/24 Florida recruits, Mullet bump year
2018 - 10/20 Florida recruits, Mullet transition year
Both coaches struggled to land full classes in their transition years, and took who they could find. FYI, I did NOT count transfers, but I counted JuCo/prep schoolers back to their home-state, thus Diwun Black is a Floridian.
Gaypier is a bit more Florida heavy CURRENTLY for his bump year, but his numbers would be right back where Mullet's were if he had landed some big-fish out-of-staters like Rashada and Mauigoa.
But always leave it to a Gaytor to build false mythology about how Slingblade Billy Gaypier is a refreshing return to Florida-centric recruiting...
