Tears Gator Tears

Sorry, man, nothing personal, there just aren't too many arguments that I hate more than "it's always been this way, we can never change it".

The game has changed. The economics are different. This is why almost every OTHER neutral site game has died (and I'm not talking about the one-off kickoff classics). I'm talking about every-year rivalry games held in a stadium that does not constitute home-and-home. Nearly extinct.

And to think that Kirby is going to sign off on some loss of competitive advantage (one less marquee game he can invite recruits to) for a measly one million dollars bump is just silly when schools are now arranging to pay incoming freshmen MORE than a million dollars, without any proof (yet) of what they can deliver for that money. Schools will set money on fire if it can improve their chances of winning a title.

Fvck tradition. The "tradition" is apparently built on the foundation of ongoing 2-year contracts, which is not exactly a brick foundation.

Time for Kirby and UGa to grow a pair and do what they have been too cheap to do before, but can afford to do so now that they have a $100M annual SEC payout lingering on the horizon. Kinda makes the "ONE MEEEEEEELLION DOLLARS" number from Jax...not so compelling...

there has really been only 2 really famous neutral site ones - Red River Shootout and World Largest ****tail Party.

we played Michigan in the Kick-Off Classic in 2017 but yea, we haven't played a road OOC game since Syracuse in 90. That'll change in 2023 when we go to Utah. I'ma go to that one.

Thinking of like spending Wednesday through Friday in Vegas or Denver, then either flying or driving to Utah.

Do yourself a favor, go out to Tahoe instead of Vegas. You can still gamble, but Tahoe is sooooo much more beautiful than Vegas, particularly at that time of the year.

This 100% @flagator86 I would really look into Tahoe. Absolutely gorgeous.

One of the funniest (but made 100% sense) things that I saw was in Stateline, Nevada...big-*** casinos go RIGHT-UP to the edge of the state line...and then stop...all of a sudden, 1 story buildings in Cali. Freakin' hilarious.

I drove more on the Nevada side, all along Tahoe and up into Mount Rose. Breathtaking. They filmed Bonanza up around Incline Village.

My best friend from middle school through UM lives over in Cali, between Tahoe and Sacramento. I was going to hit that side of Tahoe and visit him, but the weather turned bad (this was in November). I'm going to try to get back in the September time frame, that's when the weather in the Sierra Nevadas is a bit more manageable and you can drive those 2 lane roads better. I'm a **** Floridian, I'm used to flat roads and no snow...

Time to change the name of the Florida Gators to the Florida Meows...

They haven't played any OOC away games since 1990...

At least other SEC teams are willing to play home and homes with good teams

Think you meant to write something else like "west of the Mississippi" maybe. They home and home with FSU every year, but other than that the last OOC road game was @ Miami is 2013 I think. Almost a decade, so you're practically right.

They actually have Texas (will be killed when Texas joins SEC), Colorado, ASU, Utah (loss coming at home this year!) and Cal home and home's scheduled over the next decade. Not exacting riveting matchups. Will be fun to watch them try to weasel out of half of them.

Facelpalm was for not remembering you play FSU every year and played at Miami in 2013.

Denver sucks unless you are there to see music (Red Rocks, etc) or get high. Vegas is Vegas, if that's what you're looking for, then rock out.

As for other options for your trip, ignore anyone trying to get you to go to Lake Tahoe (sorry fellas). Honestly, WTF? It's beautiful, and a great place to visit, but its gotta be 9 hours driving from the U of Utah through the brutal NV wastelands. Non-sensical rec. Save Tahoe for a NoCal trip. Trust me as I've driven from northern NV to the Bay Area before, and I love Tahoe. I mean, you could fly out of SLC into Reno and rent a car and drive and hour if you want more flights in your life, but there are so many incredible nearby places to visit that are just as spectacular (or more) that you can actually get to easier, with drives that are not only shorter but breathtaking, I don't get why you would want to leave the rockies and not explore more while you're there. You could spend years there exploring.

Look into Moab and Zion in Utah for incredible beauty (each 3-4 hrs from SLC or so), Park City/Brighton/Alta (literally 30 min up the mountain from SLC/UU!) for more of a fun vibe with lots to do, or Jackson, WY which would be a life-changing drive and visit, and also is about half as far away as Tahoe.

Back on topic:

of course we have one who isn't qualified for whatever reason. It's a paid article but 2022 signee Tony Livingston won't be enrolling. Not sure of the reason but sheesh

I drove over the pass on I80 and had to pull over, buy chains for my tires and continue into Reno with chains on the rig. The weather on that pass near Truckee is insane. I am not a Floridian and it was dicey! The storm I hit outside of Park City during the same journey was worse…. HFC

Driving through Nevada on I80 to Utah I legitimately thought I was going to be beamed up and abducted by an alien craft. And no, I was not on shrooms.

Yeah, I hear you. I was driving between Reno and Taho and you hit that big flat area in the middle of the mountains, where Washoe Lake is. So I'm going along and I see these alert signs along the interstate that started to warn about sudden gusts of wind that could knock over 18 wheelers and ****e, and I started to wonder about the frequency...I'm thinking "yeah, I understand hurricane winds, but we have plenty of warning, but what's this nonsense about winds from nowhere that can knock trucks on their sides?"

I freely admit, I take a lot of that stuff for granted, living in Florida. I mean, in your head, logically, you know that kind of stuff exists in the world, but you always think it's in remote places, not where there are big cities and lots of people.

Look, man, ignore the passive-aggressive d!cks on this board who take every opportunity to neg people while acting like they have been to absolutely every location on the planet and are the authorities on travel. And who also act like we were suggesting you take a long car trip to boot.

You mentioned Vegas. Vegas is quite a drive from Salt Lake too, and I obviously assumed you were taking connecting flights. And we also know that Vegas is known for one thing primarily. So I thought I'd give you an interesting combo-trip, one that gives you a chance to gamble, but see a more interesting geographic area than Las ******* Vegas. But it's up to you, whatever your priorities are. Enjoy the trip.

Yeah, this kind of thing has been happening a lot lately. A particular poster will go on a passive-aggressive criticism of someone, and then act like what he just said had NOTHING to do with that poster, it was just a random diatribe. Ridiculous stuff.

Later on, if you have specific questions, feel free to hit up Waterbury and myself with DMs, we are nice folks who are friendly and helpful. We're not arrogant pr!cks who are going to write your whole trip intinerary based on our own personal preferences.
