I would also point out the following. The kid spent TWENTY-FOUR HOURS in Hogtown. Six or eight of those hours were spent in bed, as he flew all day long through bad weather to get there.

So it's like Ferris Bueller's Day Off. You do all the fun stuff in Hogtown for a few hours, let Rashada go the the art museum and sing in a parade. Big fvckin' deal. I'd imagine that they took him to Spurrier's restaurant to show him what a cush life a Gaytor Heisman-winning QB can have. "See, people still worship SOS and it's 50 years later".

But how much could he have possibly evaluated Hogtown in those few hours? He spent a good chunk of time inside listening to a crew-cut man talking about french-fried potaters. So when you get the equivalent of a presidential motorcade to drive you from the airport to your hotel, and you spend the rest of the time in meetings and meals, you have ZERO-POINT-ZERO time or opportunity to see what Hogtown is really like.

And with all due respect to @Cribby , I say this with peace and love, peace and love, but Gainesville is nothing special. It's like every other SEC college town. Oh, but it's got a Cheesecake Factory now. So, yeah, there's that.

What is funny is how needy and transparent the question/answer about Hogtown was, and what it illuminates. For the sportswriter, he is desperate for some validation that the California Kid didn't have to hold his nose as he hit the Hogtown city limits. And for Rashada, it'such a transparent lie that it basically means nothing. It's like Rashada saying, "You know, when that guy fvcked me in the a$$, it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would, he used a lot of Astroglide plus he had a small ****."

Good for the Gaytors. Gainesville is not as bad as one might think. Yay. And I say that as a person who lived there for 11 months. I would be happy to show Jaden around some of the "lesser" parts of Hogtown if he wants an accurate assessment of Hogtropolis...

Unless something has changed the last couple of years that town still doesn’t have one decent hotel. Not one. I haven’t been in a couple of years, so maybe that’s changed, but I used to go for the Florida relays and before then for business so I’m more than familiar with the town. I don’t mean to disrespect the normal residents that live there, there’s some nice suburbs, but there really are no decent accommodations.

is billybob a qb whisper? what qb development has he shown?
I wondered the same thing when I read that.

He has been a QB coach for 5 seasons, at 4 different schools. Not one ended well.

1 year at SC State back in 2005
2 years under Dabo, which led to his firing after year 2.
1 year under under shark ******. Saban was sooo impressed with his QB coaching that he brought him back to Alabama.. to coach WRs.
1 year at Arizona St. The HC was fired after the season.

Not exactly a whisperer. ****.. he has more experience coaching WR/TE (6 years) than he does QB (5) and that includes his 1 FCS season from 17 years ago.

When I was doing my LL.M. in Tax in the 90s, that's when they had just built the Hilton (?, Hyatt?) conference center hotel right off of 34th Street and Hull. At the time, there were NO good hotels in Hogtown.

I think they have recently built another decent hotel over by Archer and 75 (DoubleTree?). Still, EVERYTHING else in town is crappy chain motels/hotels.

My niece is enrolling in a couple of months, so I'll have a chance to get familiar with the town again.

I’m going to give my gut feeling on this Rashada situation @OriginalCanesCanesCanes. This is 110% RVA opinion. Nothing more. I think a number of people who were here for the Jason Marshall recruitment - @TheOriginalCane was on that one in detail - will relate to the situation at hand.

In that same context, I think there’s a chance they could get him. But I wouldn’t bet on it were I them unless they’re going scorched earth with cash and no one matches them. Let’s be honest here - this Northern Cali kid isn’t choosing the turds because he likes them most. That’s not possible. Like you said, per my screenshot, he left think it sucked less than he expected. And it was a big pain in the *** to get there. But really… this isn’t a kid from Ocala or Lakeland or even South Georgia. If the money’s the same or close he’s taking an offer from Oregon over UiF all day every day and I’d say Miami as well. I’ll add in aTm too because Jimbo will out-recruit Billy at this point in his sleep notwithstanding that they have the biggest checkbook of all of us.

Back to Jason Marshall. The kid was coming to Miami. The gaytor bagmen were very desperate to salvage Mullet’s class and we’ve heard numbers of like $250k and I believe it. They have money people who will stroke checks.

Fast forward to the last class. Billy got stuffed in a locker by Mario and LSU to close out the 2022 class with Citizen and Perkins.

Fast forward to the 2023 class. It’s almost June. They have no QB room. Like awful. They have no WR room. Their OL is suspect. They had Pitts as a generational talent and now they have a ****** TE room. At RB - lol - and they are not leading for Young, Owens or Baxter. **** - they’ve lost traction on both sides of the ball with a number of high level recruits like Mitchell, Harris, Kirkland, Bryant, LeBlanc….

They just signed Billy to a big deal and they’re not looking at a stellar first season with their talent. If they don’t get a top QB to not only fix their QB room but also to salvage their recruiting at the other positions on offense, Billy is going to drown and they know it. These are the same guys who ensured Marshall’s signature. There’s no doubt in my mind that they would put every dollar they can muster into landing a top 5 HS QB to prevent the Billy ship from sinking before it even leaves port.

The thing is, now the game is legal and schools who wouldn’t play the bag game can compete. They’re not going to walk in and surprise anybody. It’s purely a matter of whether anyone else wants Rashada as badly. I don’t think any of us need him as much as the gaytors do for the reasons shared.

Regardless of us, I can’t stress enough as red blooded gaytor haters how important it is that they fail in securing a top QB who can rescue their QB room and their class with trailing high level commits. Every remaining option after us is 1000% better for us if he chooses any of them over the gaytor. If they fail to secure a top QB, Billy’s bump class and roster will be way behind whatever it is that they projected. But no one should doubt they their bagmen are feeling like wounded animals in a cage right now.
I’m add that one of the really nice things that will come out of the Ruiz vs **** Twitter spat is that if it comes down to just us and then I think Ruiz is going to pay Rashada whatever it takes just to Fvck with them. That’s what I would do if it was me.

I mean who decided that he’s a mini Saban??? You don’t read or hear this stuff anywhere else. They literally make it up, repeat it and then it becomes their reality.

Nick Savage was a top 5 S&C CoRch and Mullet was a top 3-5 HC. Remember that stuff? Then they were ripping both on the way out.

What is it that we say, remind me. “They just say shlt and believe it.“ Was that it?

I travel a lot so that would be a no go there for me either way. Their have a little tiny regional airport so you have to connect to everywhere. And let’s say I devide to take a sabbatical from work and decide to travel the world, that would make it more difficult also.

Where I live now I have three major airports to fly out of: West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami, I can always find flights at most with direct non stops . From from Miami I can get anywhere to Europe pretty much, at least the major cities in Europe, and if I’m going west like Japan and Australia or somewhere like that it would be a one stop deal.

Yeah that Hilton was really rundown the last time I stayed there

We just stayed at the Hilton on campus a couple of months ago. Daughter is attending Dental School there otherwise I’d never step foot in the ****thole. We thought the hotel did a decent job. The place seemed to have been renovated recently and had modern and clean rooms. They even have a Shula’s Steakhouse right off the lobby.

Hyatt is opening a Hyatt Place
in Gainesville soon. So that ****thole town is finally on the semi come up.

There’s also a brand new boutique hotel called Indigo over near the newly opened Celebration Point that is supposed to be nice. Steve Spurrier has opened a really nice restaurant called Spurriers at Celebration Point and both the food and the service are top notch.

Some chef from Miami opened a decent joint called Cintron. Definitely worth a stop. Food and service have been spot on the few times we’ve eaten there.

Gainesville still sucks though. Same old dirty and creepy place with ****t weather and ACR’s running around everywhere wearing Jorts and sporting mullets.

Same number , same hood and it’s still no good.

I’ll have to check those out the next time I’m up there, I don’t think I have anything planned though for quite a while. I know we’re doing a home and home with them at some point in the late 20s
