I’m going to give my gut feeling on this Rashada situation @OriginalCanesCanesCanes. This is 110% RVA opinion. Nothing more. I think a number of people who were here for the Jason Marshall recruitment - @TheOriginalCane was on that one in detail - will relate to the situation at hand.

In that same context, I think there’s a chance they could get him. But I wouldn’t bet on it were I them unless they’re going scorched earth with cash and no one matches them. Let’s be honest here - this Northern Cali kid isn’t choosing the turds because he likes them most. That’s not possible. Like you said, per my screenshot, he left think it sucked less than he expected. And it was a big pain in the *** to get there. But really… this isn’t a kid from Ocala or Lakeland or even South Georgia. If the money’s the same or close he’s taking an offer from Oregon over UiF all day every day and I’d say Miami as well. I’ll add in aTm too because Jimbo will out-recruit Billy at this point in his sleep notwithstanding that they have the biggest checkbook of all of us.

Back to Jason Marshall. The kid was coming to Miami. The gaytor bagmen were very desperate to salvage Mullet’s class and we’ve heard numbers of like $250k and I believe it. They have money people who will stroke checks.

Fast forward to the last class. Billy got stuffed in a locker by Mario and LSU to close out the 2022 class with Citizen and Perkins.

Fast forward to the 2023 class. It’s almost June. They have no QB room. Like awful. They have no WR room. Their OL is suspect. They had Pitts as a generational talent and now they have a ****** TE room. At RB - lol - and they are not leading for Young, Owens or Baxter. **** - they’ve lost traction on both sides of the ball with a number of high level recruits like Mitchell, Harris, Kirkland, Bryant, LeBlanc….

They just signed Billy to a big deal and they’re not looking at a stellar first season with their talent. If they don’t get a top QB to not only fix their QB room but also to salvage their recruiting at the other positions on offense, Billy is going to drown and they know it. These are the same guys who ensured Marshall’s signature. There’s no doubt in my mind that they would put every dollar they can muster into landing a top 5 HS QB to prevent the Billy ship from sinking before it even leaves port.

The thing is, now the game is legal and schools who wouldn’t play the bag game can compete. They’re not going to walk in and surprise anybody. It’s purely a matter of whether anyone else wants Rashada as badly. I don’t think any of us need him as much as the gaytors do for the reasons shared.

Regardless of us, I can’t stress enough as red blooded gaytor haters how important it is that they fail in securing a top QB who can rescue their QB room and their class with trailing high level commits. Every remaining option after us is 1000% better for us if he chooses any of them over the gaytor. If they fail to secure a top QB, Billy’s bump class and roster will be way behind whatever it is that they projected. But no one should doubt they their bagmen are feeling like wounded animals in a cage right now.

Flawless logic.

Flawless logic.
I think it’s gotta be a Mega-Marshall situation going on over there and Rashada saves them on multiple fronts. There’s way to much at stake and at real risk if they don’t get a top QB in this class. There’s no one in the final group that needs this more than they do. The question for me is whether another school is willing to pay the same money while in a less desperate situation?

JFC, this is such a left-handed compliment, as they used to say.

Or here’s another one, damned with faint praise.

So he’s already had people in his ear about what a shīthole Gainesville is. On the way to campus he didn’t notice too many thatched huts with tin roofs, so he’s thinking to himself “boy this is way better than I imagined “. Doesn’t mean he’s going to go there, and it’s still a shlthole, but it’s way better than he imagined.

Probably the same thing people say about Mogadishu.

I would also point out the following. The kid spent TWENTY-FOUR HOURS in Hogtown. Six or eight of those hours were spent in bed, as he flew all day long through bad weather to get there.

So it's like Ferris Bueller's Day Off. You do all the fun stuff in Hogtown for a few hours, let Rashada go the the art museum and sing in a parade. Big fvckin' deal. I'd imagine that they took him to Spurrier's restaurant to show him what a cush life a Gaytor Heisman-winning QB can have. "See, people still worship SOS and it's 50 years later".

But how much could he have possibly evaluated Hogtown in those few hours? He spent a good chunk of time inside listening to a crew-cut man talking about french-fried potaters. So when you get the equivalent of a presidential motorcade to drive you from the airport to your hotel, and you spend the rest of the time in meetings and meals, you have ZERO-POINT-ZERO time or opportunity to see what Hogtown is really like.

And with all due respect to @Cribby , I say this with peace and love, peace and love, but Gainesville is nothing special. It's like every other SEC college town. Oh, but it's got a Cheesecake Factory now. So, yeah, there's that.

What is funny is how needy and transparent the question/answer about Hogtown was, and what it illuminates. For the sportswriter, he is desperate for some validation that the California Kid didn't have to hold his nose as he hit the Hogtown city limits. And for Rashada, it'such a transparent lie that it basically means nothing. It's like Rashada saying, "You know, when that guy fvcked me in the a$$, it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would, he used a lot of Astroglide plus he had a small ****."

Good for the Gaytors. Gainesville is not as bad as one might think. Yay. And I say that as a person who lived there for 11 months. I would be happy to show Jaden around some of the "lesser" parts of Hogtown if he wants an accurate assessment of Hogtropolis...

I completely agree with you.

However, I would say go beyond Jason Marshall, a situation from 2 years ago, and look to Harold Perkins.

Harold Perkins was just recruited a few months ago, and was a Texas kid, which is probably a harder pull for the Gaytors (way more Texas-area options) than a California kid. AND Perkins was recruited during the NIL era, when it is entirely legal to arrange additional compensation for recruits.

STILL. With all the financial might of the "Gaytor Guard", the Gaytor fans STILL openly bragged about offering a no-show job at Shands to Perkins' mother, free Hogtown housing for the family, and a separate bag of cash for Perkins' father. None of those things are NIL money, none of those things are legal. Gaytor fans OPENLY BRAGGED ABOUT IT (and I'm still waiting for Saban to complain about THAT one, but then again, Florida is a charter SEC-school and not a historically black college with a prominent Hispanic booster).

So, yeah, will the Bull Gaytors make a big-money Hail Mary attempt to get Rashada, in order to try to salvage Little-****-Energy Billy Gaypier's all-important bump class? OF COURSE THEY WILL.

And all the glowing interviews in the world won't convert Rashada-to-Hogtown into a love connection. The ONLY reason he would try to convince his parents to take horrendous all-day flights to Hogtown to see his home games is because he was paid a ****-ton of money.

Finally, let's not forget the obvious, as the Gaytor fans have also been saying the quiet part out loud on their websites. The 24-hour trip to Gainesville quite clearly involved an ILLEGAL payment "for a visit", as we know this has been going on for decades in the SEC. The advent of the NIL Era hasn't changed SEC Standard Operating Procedure #1. This is really the Hybrid Era. SEC schools still pay illegal money for visits and verbals, IN ADDITION TO multi-year NIL deals for players to appear at future Boys Club/Girls Club events in their puny college towns.

You don't fly all day and all night right before an important athletic event (at "your own" expense) just to dispel your long-held ideas on what a ****hole town Gainesville is. You only fly into brutally bad weather on a tight-turnaround-deadline if there is a 6-figure-briefcase pot-of-gold at the end of the rainbow.

Anyone who denies that...well, I have an illustration for them:

Nice Chasing Amy reference

Banky Edwards: Alright, now see this? This is a four-way road, okay? And dead in the center is a crisp, new, hundred dollar bill. Now, at the end of each of these streets are four people, okay? You following?

Holden: Yeah.

Banky Edwards: Good. Over here, we have a rule-following, easy to get along with, non-cheating SEC head football coach. Down here, we have a rival-hating, angry as fvck, agenda of rage, bitter low-down cheating scumbag SEC head football coach. Over here, we got Santa Claus, and up here the Easter Bunny. Which one is going to get to the hundred dollar bill first?

Holden: What is this supposed to prove?

Banky Edwards: No, I'm serious. This is a serious exercise. It's like an SAT question. Which one is going to get to the hundred dollar bill first? The rule-following SEC head football coach, the low-down cheating scumbag SEC head football coach, Santa Claus, or the Easter bunny?

Holden: The cheating scumbag SEC head football coach.

Banky Edwards: Good. Why?

Holden: I don't know.

Banky Edwards: [shouting] Because the other three are figments of your ******* imagination!

I’m curious what “missing credits” this kid didn’t have to make it into the Stanford of the swamp? They’re making it seem like UF has some unattainable academic requirements. Dude, stfu. The Pounceys somehow made it into UF. Like you gotta be smart to be a UF football player.
You know the drill. They’ve recently used most of the other excuses, so it’s time for “he couldn’t get in!” At least it kinda made sense when we used to try this sh*t, but them believing they have high standards is precious.

The reality is that visits are only top-of-funnel at this point. These Gayturds are all giddy when they get a visit, and it is more like a home shopper hearting a property on Zillow than that home shopper going to the open house. Much less the home shopper making an offer.

Blue chip recruits are visiting 20 schools and going back to 10 multiple times in order to chum the shark tank. How many blue chippers has Miami hosted over the past quarter? Probably hundreds. You don't need to be an insider to know that Rashada is nowhere near being a commit to them.
Yes but you do need to “own” multiple Chick Fil A’s to have that kind of info

Is Rashada truly "best offer wins"?

Will he really go to a program where he knows isn't the best fit for him developmentally just to make a few extra hundred $k?

I guess with the one free transfer rule, it's not as big of a commitment as it used to be.

I don’t know. I think there’s a situation like Oregon where if they’re close enough it’s possibly all he needs given the distance from home and the more familiar culture. I think with the gaytor, they’re going to have to beat everyone dollar for dollar in enough of a way that he’ll be willing to deal with the town, the culture, the supporting cast and accessible flights issue.

is billybob a qb whisper? what qb development has he shown?
I mean who decided that he’s a mini Saban??? You don’t read or hear this stuff anywhere else. They literally make it up, repeat it and then it becomes their reality.

Nick Savage was a top 5 S&C CoRch and Mullet was a top 3-5 HC. Remember that stuff? Then they were ripping both on the way out.

God they’re stupid….

Taking about we’ve had 3 QBs win the Heisman???

Spurrier Wuerffel and Tebow lmao… the people that coached them aren’t there anymore and haven’t been for a decade or decades and yet “Hey come trust our QB development Rashada”
Didn’t Spurrier win the Heisman in the 60’s? That’s like UM selling Ted Hendricks’ three All American awards to recruits.
