Tears Gator Tears

Before Licensed to Ill was released in November 1986, they opened up for Madonna in 1985, they played Orlando, Tampa, and the good ol' Hollywood Sportatorium. They also played Tampa and Miami (and later West Palm) in mid-1986 on the Run-DMC "Raising ****" tour. The West Palm show was right as I was starting my freshman year, some of us wanted to go to see Run-DMC but we had Orientation and move-in and whatnot, plus we were making runs to Home Depot to buy stuff to build lofts in the dorm rooms.

On the Licensed to Ill tour, just a couple months after the album was released, they went to St. Pete, Jax, and the good ol' Sunrise Musical Theater during February. In the summertime, they went to Tally, Tampa, Orlando, Jax, and good ol' Bobby Maduro Stadium in Miami.

Then, if you remember, they had a long lay-off until they put out Paul's Boutique in 1989, and the album notoriously bombed when it was first released. The Beasties played at DECOS on Miami Beach (now THAT club is a blast from the past). I think it was one of only a handful of dates that they EVER did for Paul's Boutique. I know that they HATED the debauchery of the Licensed to Ill tour, and they really didn't tour again until Check Your Head in 1992.

They played club dates in May 1992 as well for Check Your Head. I saw them at The Edge in Orlando, and they played the Cameo in Miami Beach (plus St. Pete). In November 1992, they played The Edge again, Bayfront in Miami, plus Tampa and Jax.

They did Lollapalooza in 1994 when Ill Communication came out. After that, they played mostly arenas, stadiums, and festivals for the rest of their career.
Yeah, pretty much every one of those shows took place when I was too young to go to concerts. I did want to go to Lollapalooza (I was in high school by then) but tickets were out of my price range for a 15 year old. I did see them at whatever the Panthers arena is called back in like 05 or 06.

Gaytor coaches:

HC Billy Gaypier - fired from OC job at Clemson in 2010.
OC/OL Rob Sale - fired from OL coach job at Georgia in 2015. Failed at the NY Giants in 2021 and jumped to Gaytors before he could be fired.
Co-DC/DL Sean Spencer - fired from DL coach job at UMass in 2008. Failed at the NY Giants in 2021 and jumped to Gaytors before he could be fired.
RB Jabbar Juluke - fired from RB coach job at LSU in 2017.
CB Corey Raymond - fired from CB coach job at LSU in 2021.
WR Keary Colbert - fired from WR coach job at USC in 2021.
ILB Jay Bateman - fired from HC job at Siena in 2003. Fired from Co-DC job at UNC in 2021.

Essentially, the Gaytors staff is made up of about 50% with guys who this is their first/biggest P5 job ever, or the guys listed above, who have been fired at least once in their careers. I'm not even saying it was all their fault, sometimes it was a failed HC which brought on the widescale firing of the assistant coaching staff. And, yes, I know Corey Raymond's firing/non-retention was particularly egregious.

But to pretend as if there is some sort of unique shame and/or blame associated with any UM assistant coach hiring is a joke. No matter how the Gaytor fans spin it, there is no magical power associated with hiring super-young coaches who have never been at a high-P5 level previously, and there is no curse that destroys a coach who has been fired once or twice.

Leave it to the Gaytor fans to put all sorts of conditions and limitations on their boasts and roasts. Yeah, it's got to be a firing in the past 5 years. Whatever. It doesn't matter how much acclaim Miami's coaching staff gets from the press, in the eyes of the Gaytor fans, there will always be some deficit to expose, some past failure to exploit. Miami coaches are too old, have been fired previously, or are not as well thought of as they once were.

Frankly, I don't care. I can't wait until 2024 when we can show those dirtbags what real coaches look like. That is, if half of our staff hasn't already succeeded in their first 2 years and moved on to bigger titles or the NFL.

OK, now the Gaytors are losing their **** minds over a thread started by our own @ajone228 over on 247 (I'm sure most of those idiot Gaytors haven't found our indie-board yet), and while I do not have 247 VIP, I'll post the original thread first (as I'm sure some of you have VIP). From reading the Gaytor responses, the thread must involve Mario and the coaches sending Corman McClain's mother several birthday cards. This will be fun...

Soooo...first Northern Gaytor issues some sort of scathing and hilarious insult regarding us not knowing the difference between chess and checkers. Sadly, Northern Gaytor appears to have never watched The Wire...
