Further condemnation of Shannon's classes...

These are two guys who we will sorely miss early next season. Very little experience at their respective positions.

Goldens and company have done a good job of sifting through the rubble and extracting what they could from the mess left by the previous regime. However, there was enough talent in 2011 to have performed better than 6-6.

Those losses to Maryland and BC really stick out as inexcusable in spite of the external circumstances which surrounded both games. Close losses to K-State, VTech, and FSU were hard fought games that were there for the taking. The talent pool dropped off considerably from 2011-2012, but to say that Goldens inherited nothing from Shannon is just false. We could have gone 9-3/8-4 in 2011 with the talent available and that could have boosted recruiting and the program's image. Goldens is not absolved from criticism, despite however much you don't want that to be the case.

The talent pool did drop off considerably from '11 to '12, which makes our 7-5 record in 2012 (with a much tighter schedule) that much more impressive.

And @ Maryland, in the rain, in the opener, with all of our impact starters out for the game, deserves a pass.

We beat 4 bowl teams last year. Nothing very significant was accomplished but it was a step in the right direction in the big picture. I'm not trying to be an *******. Posters like the OP are very, very pro-Goldens. I'm cautiously optimistic and choose to view things a little differently.

The RS class that killed us was 2010, big class with little talent and even fewer contributors. The perplexing thing is that a majority of the actual talent in that class was on the OL, a position you would thing would be weakest for a program like Miami. We knocked it out the park that year at OL. That being said all blame on what RS left us ends this fall. We have talent, not elite talent, but we have top 25 talent and if we dont improve it sure as **** wont be Randy's fault.

While I am not going to comment on RS because it is a dead topic....I will take the opportunity to thread-jack, how do you feel about Al offering a 2016 kid?

Do some of you feel good knowing your coach is recruiting 3 classes into the future?

Do some of you feel that your coach is likely bolting for another college?

Not after seeing him in the black track suit for the spring game. Dude LOVES South Florida, and he looks the part.

And with the cash in college football these days, there's really no reason to leave for the NFL.

OMFG

Somebody please shoot me in the face

So you think losing to Maryland in 2011 is "inexcusable" when there was 8 or 9 players suspended for the game including the starting QB but this guy mentions how Golden looked like a pimp at the spring game in that bad *** track suit and you say shoot you in the face? Gladly...

Miami went 7-6 in 2010 and lost to USF for Christs sake. The Randy slurpers expected a BCS run that year even though the writing on the wall said Randy was a jackass and you think the team was supposed to be better in 2011 after Golden walked in and cut the cancer out of a team on the decline? Delusional...

Goldens himself will tell you that losing to Maryland was inexcusable:

"We had enough talent to win tonight. We just didn't do it," Golden said. "I thought we were ready to go. We made too many mistakes. You make that many mistakes, you can't win."

"We had enough (players) on this trip to win this game," Golden said. "But you can't give up that many yards, no matter who is in the game."

Yeah because Golden was going to say the team sucked and the suspended players are the reason they lost??? GTFOOH!

You lose you're starting QB and top players from a 7-6 team that was garbage the year before and a loss is inexcusable? Like I said, delusional...

Anyone with a brain knows AG & Co were left with a football program in ruins. Golden is a friggin beast and I don't think that point can be disputed. Now it's time to win.

Goldens was outcoached against maryland. He's been outcoached since then and he'll be outcoached again. He's not perfect. He's the right man for the job, but he's not perfect.

Losing to Merryland as the result of a majority of starters being suspended a week before the game will give Golden a pass from me. However, losing to BC to end the season is inexcusable imho

I can't believe this is still being discussed.

Agree Consigliere 100% it's in the past& should remain there from here on out

When the thread is about condemning Shannon's classes, I think the past is relevant here.

Oh the thread is about the past, let's bring up Pearl Harbor then.

Changes in history usually occur after some kind of catastrophic event. It may be 9/11, which sort of changed the spirit of America relative to catastrophic events. Pearl Harbor kind of got us ready for World War II, and that was a catastrophic event. Hopefully the 2012 UVA game will act as our catastrophic event from the standpoint of winning football games.

What is the point of all this?

Maybe if you explained all this rhetoric then people might understand your point of view.

And I'm sure Golden would tell us that too because you two are so tight...

Its year 3. We have a bunch of potential pros on our offense and the juniors are already Golden's guys its time we move on from Randy

this is the first year that we can really put him on the hot seat though we still need a really good 2014 class to fill in quality depth at all spots. too many JAGS at back up (or starters) on DL and LB...no RB depth

the ****** part is that 2014 is when all the depth and talent and experience should be there at all spots except for the most important....QB

if only Morris coulda redshirted at some point (like 2011).

How many did jacory throw to BC in that game? Clearly golden effed that up.

Upperclassmen seemed to give up in the BC game. I had a feeling they were going to lose that game after giving up any chance for a bowl game.

Bomb, am I remembering your defenses of the staff incorrectly? This isn't meant to be adversarial. Just struck me as odd.

I think he is really off on McGee (big physical athletic corner) 3rd Round is my guess.

I agree. I am much higher on McGee's pro potential over James.

McGee improved so much last year, he could be quite a bargain in the late rounds. James also should stick in the league, he has everything you could want from a third down back. He is smart, good at picking up blitzes, and catches the ball well out of the backfield. His lack of elite speed can be made up for with his toughness.
