MEGA Frenk Out - Who Next?

Yes so, I see this is an upgrade in regard to reputation. Perhaps Miami was overpaying him. Some argue that Mario is overpaid LOL as well.
Plenty of CEOs have been fired before only to land somewhere else and excel. He deserves to be gone and that doesn’t mean he won’t do a good job for those that have different needs at a different time. Personally, I hope he does well, not because I give a **** about him, but because my wife is a UCLA grad and I don’t want to hear her yelling like I’ve been for the last nine years.

actually youre wrong. she did care about athletics, the issue was she got too involved. anyone who took her class would tell you she absolutely loved UM athletics.
you're*

she liked athletics on HER terms which were the WRONG terms. she was good for one thing and only one thing -----> raising money. she raised the billions that today are financing the building boom.

she cared more about sports than Frenk ever did. you dont want your president making hiring decisions, which is the issue with DS. she tried to hire barry alvarez here when she got here but obviously players wanted Larry Coker.

that's like say an atheist care less about God than a serial axe murderer. bad barometer, meng!

Exactly.

Read betwixt the lines.
Wonder how quickly things start happening now because that was the first thing I thought when you started factoring the timing of him being done immediately yet not starting at UCLA until next year, and then the immediate title to Joe…. Perhaps we actually sue the ACC ourselves now?

Exactly. She inherited a university with the #1 football program in the world who played in an iconic stadium of its own and coached by one Butch Davis... and under her tenure we hired Larry Coker, Randy Shannon, Al Golden. She invested $0 in football, was instrumental in tearing the Orange Bowl to rubble, and she never lifted a finger to built us a replacement stadium. She didn't invest in any facilities. Then there's the famous picture of her accepting a check from Nevin Shapiro.

Shalala was as much of a train wreck for Miami as anyone could be. If she wasn't actively trying to destroy the football program, then she just bungled it up so badly I don't know if we should laugh or cry. We're STILL digging our way out of the hole she put us in.

That's her legacy.

Two sides to everything. As a responsible journalist, I feel it’s important not to just given one side of the story. This is not defending her or saying I like her, just giving the complete picture.

A big reason we are even in the game right now for the B1G is due to her emphasis on academics and building up the biomedical program.

Some might say that even though Clemson has been extremely successful in the last 15 years while we’ve been pretty much garbage that entire time , the B1G is far more interested in UM than Clemson because we are AAU accredited and they aren’t even remotely close to it.

UM was climbing into the Top 25 of schools when she left. We went from Suntan U to being #38.

The Shapiro thing is silly. She took a big check from a donor. She didnt know he was a grifter. You think Harvard has given back the $10 million that Jeffrey Epstein donated?

The players wanted Coker. If you want to say she should have ignored the players , that’s fair. Shalala wanted Barry Alvarez as either coach or AD. I think we would have had a different trajectory if that had happened.

As for the Orange Bowl, I have heard so many people blamed for it , I don’t know what’s true.

i think this is false. michigan, UNC, Viriginia, Berkeley (vomit) are more betterer
Usnwr is extremely biased toward the California schools and once upon a time it may of been right. I for one would never send my kids to learn under those entitled moronic professors and even worse the administration of those schools.

USA Today, which is basically the 247 of University rankings has UCLA as #15, TopUniversities.com have UCLA as #13, visualcapitalist.com has UCLA tied for #15, Forbes.com have UCLA ranked #7.

Now here’s an interesting one: Educationcorner.com.
They base their rankings on graduation rate, post graduation success (value of degree), debt after graduation, campus life. They ranked the top 100 schools: UCLA was 33rd, Miami didn’t make the cut, but Florida & Georgia did. 😳

not sure who the paid off to get to #1 but no way it is better academically than virginia michigan or UNC
How would you actually even know, because you feel like it’s not better? It’s been this way for a long time by people whose professional jobs it is are to measure it - and while I am sure there may be other rankings that look at things fairly differently, US news and world report is the most widely used one, and also one of the ones that help bring Julio down as we started falling down the rankings.

UCLA has the highest number of applicants and it’s not even close w/ a low acceptance rate. They are internationally renowned, friend, & have one of the best law schools in the nation (although UVA, Cal, & UofM have surged passed them there).

I understand it’s hard to fathom for ya’ll East Coasters to get how a school out West can be so academically inclined since we’re in such a liberal state, but get over it. UCLA’s education is top notch w/ kids from all over the world clamoring to get in. My little cousin was rejected from UCLA & had to “settle” for Michigan. She was rejected from UCLA again, & had to “settle” for USC.
