For those that want to Bail on Golden

Newflash...once it gets to the point where the fanbase is divided on a guy it's usually downhill from there. They're divided for a reason, namely because the results, 3 years in, have been divided at best.

There is some truth to this statement and although I think Golden is the guy, he is fighting a huge uphill battle right now. He has already lost a huge portion of the fanbase and will play **** getting them back.

That is a big problem moving forward, considering our fanbase is already pathetic in terms of support as it is.

No doubt Al is at a crossroads.

That crossroad has a road to the left without Onfrio and a road to the right with Onfrio. What he decides this offseason is going to seal his fate. You simply cannot justify another year for a coordinator who is THIS bad.

It's simple in my eyes, if Al is stupid/stubborn enough to bring back Onfrio then he simply is in over his head. I like the guy and want him to succeed here...but there's simply no room for that type of nonsense at a program this big.
Well there is still a possibility that he keeps Dorito and succeeds here. Doubtful, but still possible.

There's a possibility I might nail Sofia Vergara between today and tommorrow. Doubtful, but it's still possible.

I agree with you to a point.

If Al chooses to keep D'Onofrio (which I believe he will) he better show drastic improvement next year. If he doesn't he's really between a rock and a hard place.

Fan apathy will be very high entering next year if he keeps him......that is a fact.

If he keeps him and he fails again, then he's likely entering a pivotal year as a head coach breaking in a new coordinator (year 5). He's gotta get this defense turned around or he's baked. I don't care how he does it, it just needs to happen.

Donofrio is staying. Is he the best D coordinator in the world? Of course he is not. Yet he is pretty darn good.

So wht do you say about his D being 17th Nationally and pass D 14 Th nationally @ Temple? Anyone can put up a GIF and bring nothing to the table. But the guy produced at a crappy *** school and had players drafted FROM TEMPLE IN THE NFL!. Now imagine when he gets these 2 classes at the junior and senior level.

Shoot yourself in the face and choose another team to root for. Since when is mediocrity the standard, or even acceptable at the U?

I mean honestly...anyone citing their "sucesses" at Temple just doesn't get it. They beat NOBODY during their tenure at Temple. I know the Don Bailey Jr disciples will cry and scream "It's Temple"....well guess what...they're still Temple. It's not like he took them to anywhere of significance. Beating bad teams doesn't make you a great coach, it makes you the prettiest fat girl.

We beat 1 team with a winning record so far this year. You know what that means? It means we go down in history as one of THE worst 9 win teams in history. It's a sham.

I swear this is the Shannon/Coker denial period all over again. We saw similar posts over on Grassy during the end of both of those tenures where people kept defending and making excuses. Morons and apologist would cite Coker's overall record and his national title, Idiots would yell that Shannon needed more time....

Talent wins ball games at Miami. Many fans here want a quick fix and expect Golden to turn it around based on scheme. Guess what? This is Division I football. You need players… ballers at your junior an senior year. All the players I listed our upperclassmen have no business playing for Miami and if they continue to miss tackles it does not matter if Saban is their DC. If/ When Golden has had a chance to suceed with HIS PLAYERS and not the #41 recruiting class in the **** nation, then we can judge if he belongs at Miami or not. It's funny before the FSU game and before the NCAA fiasco everyone was thankful for Golden and him sticking with the program despite having the opportunity to bolt. Remember the Wisconsin rumors? Or the Penn State rumors? if we fire Golden right now he would have his next offer in the next 5 minutes (see USC, maybe Texas, Gators act). Yet his honeymoon is up because we know we are not going to get hammered. So we become selfish impatient ******* and start crying for wins WITH A BUNCH OF PANSIES AS OUR UPPERCLASSMEN!. YOU THINK SABAN WOULD WIN WITH THIS TEAM? WITH THESE PANSIES??? HAVE YOU SEEN SABAN'S CLASSES? THE AMOUNT OF STUDDERY INVOLVED ON HIS D? It makes his D coordinator look good. It makes Saban look good. How did Urban do his last year in Florida when the talent level started dropping off? Exactly… you need players. What players? MATURE JUNIORS AND SENIORS that can carry the load and have GROWN MEN BODIES. I am not settling for mediocrity a the U. But many of you are stuck in 1989 when the college football landscape was different. Now everyone recruits inner city kids and throws $$$$ and houses at them. Now Saban makes more money than some NFL coaches. Coordinators cost over $1 million.

I will say this. If by 2015 I see that we are not a top 25 Defense I will gladly cal for a change. But I will give Golden next year and the year after to get us baling big time. Why? Because he deserves the chance to develop his players. He deserves to have Moten, Chad Thomas and Valentine playing as Sophomores and having tracy Howard and the rest of our sophomores playing as seniors . If anyone deserves this chance for sticking with us and seeing us through the NCAA it's Al Golden.

So Shove it up your pie hole.

Give him two more years of mediocrity. So that 2 years from now we'll be sitting here saying I told you so and we will have wasted 2 years to get a real coach in here who could have gotten us turned around.

Give Golden 2 more years to turn it around...That's five ******* years we will have wasted. Then we'll have to bring in another guy who will then need 3/4 years to rebuild once again.

That's over a decade of failure if we wait another 2 years to see if Golden can turn it around when it is clear that he can not.

I started having doubts about Golden after last year's abomination of a season but decided to give him this year to get us turned around. But he has failed and I am out of patience with him.

Keep him another 2 years just so you can have proof beyond a reasonable doubt that he's not the guy even though he's already given us overwhelming evidence that he isn't? **** that.

It's one thing to not have talent, something completely different to be outschemed, outcoached, and outplayed by the likes of Duke, UVA, Wake, etc.

Golden is clearly not the guy. He has already given us 3 years of evidence that he isn't. But some of you need 5 years of proof? That's ******* insane. 3 years in and we are no better of a team than we were with Shannon. What more ******* proof do you need?

It really doesn't matter what you think. Golden has AT MINIMUM two more years.

The people who want to bail on Golden are living in a dream world, or better re-evaluate their assumptions. Barring a meltdown, or some lousy records going forward, Golden isnt going anywhere anytime soon.

Golden is the 46th highest paid coach in Division 1. 46th!!! Anything thinking that big time coaches are lining up to come here is living in a fantasy world. We arent getting any of those big name guys. Even if we did can Golden in a few years, he's going to be replaced by someone just like him. An up and coming coach from a smaller program.

Miami is a small private University trying to compete with massive state funded diploma mills that can funnel all the money in the world into their football programs. Miami is the ONLY small private school that can even compete at this level anymore.

We have plenty of money my friend... Don't get it twisted. Coker was lobbied for by players such as REED and Dorsey. Shannon was hired bc Cokers buyout was massive and we then couldn't afford a big name. Golden makes peanuts bc he hasn't proven anything. His extension was due to NCAA debacle and we needed him to weather the storm. Unfortunately his contract extension period is a bit long... Donofrio on the other hand can be replaced quickly. Especially with the talent we are and will bring in.

LOL @ "we have plenty of money". Sorry I didnt realize I was talking to a member of the BOT. I guess that explains why we only offered 2MM a year to Wanstache when Butch left. I agree we could probably pay AG a bit more if he improves, but 46th in the country buddy. There are a LOT more programs still paying buyouts, with coaches who have accomplished jack sh*t too, ranked higher.

Golden is the 7th highest paid Coach in the ACC. Our assistants dont make all that much either. Yes we could pay them more too, but you are living in a dream world if you think we can afford to pay what the big programs can. We CANNOT afford the top coaches. Freaking Grobe at Wake Forest makes more than Golden. LMAO. So does Doeren at NCSt.

People here demand a staff that can compete with Nick Saban every year, making less than HALF of what that staff makes. You all need to get real. Yes we can be elite again, but our "road" to elite, is going to have to be one of patience and luck, more along the lines of VT, than the big SEC programs that just buy the hottest coach and rocket to the top of the polls. We dont have that kind of money.

I see many of you already have your pitchforks and are ready to hang Golden and Donofrio........ Give it time. Be patient, fan base.. Golden needs 2016.. the year where the Canes are going to make serious noise.

Based on these exerts I imagine you watch games and never scream at the TV, scratch your head, or say something like..."why don't the coaches do something different".

2016?????? fug that passive as way of thinking. AG's head IMO is not on the chopping block...his BFF tho is and should be fired. IF AG fails to make this decision and the defensive performance continues, we will be a mediocre team, will continue to under perform and as a result, he may not not be here in 2016.

Baylor lil bigger with 15K
Syracuse 20K not so small

There are all smaller private schools even USC is getting back and will compete...

nd has such an insanely large national fanbase, boosters, and an exclusive tv contract so they cannot be used in comparison to us.
stanford has one of the best overall athletic programs in the country. part of the reason is that their athletic department is integrated with their campus recreation department and they can funnel money gained from a lot of other areas on campus to their sports programs.
baylor has texas oil money leaking from it's ******* and now have nike trying to turn them into oregon south.
syracuse is a basketball school and their football program is a dumpster fire, so i'm not sure why they're even in the conversation.

on top of that, all of those schools have their own stadiums and can rake in all of the profit from their events, giving them an even more sizable financial advantage.

usc is really the only thing that we can compare ourselves to in terms of the kind of school that um is, and they've been underacheiving with superior talent.

If the horses are on their way, what the **** was Golden doing the last three years?
Recruiting PLAYERS THAT BELONG. Don't be a dumba** Perryman, Howard, Bush, McCord, AQM, and Chick are not the problems on the defense. THEY'RE THE ONES WHO ARE PRODUCING.

Now, just because I love making people like you look dumb...

When were all of those players brought in? THE PAST 3 SEASONS

And, Saban and Smart have been on record stating that you need elite level players to run a flex 3,4 especially at the hybrid LB spot and DT because those are the two most important players in that scheme.

Dt needs to clog the middle and mediocre DT's aren't doing that in a conference with talent like the ACC

and Hybrid LB's because they need the size to shed blocks, make open field tackles, keep the RB's from bouncing outside, and COVER.

So. Actually the guys in the past 3 years have been very good for the system (outside of DT's, which i will admit he hasn't gotten until this class)

Tyriq McCord will be ONE OF THE BEST hybrid LB in college football, with his speed and size. He needs to work on his tackling form and open field tackling, but keep in mind he is young.
