For those that want to Bail on Golden

Lol at anybody who thinks Dorito is a good coach. His schemed allowed 500 yards against the like of Pitt and Duke. He's had three years to get his horses in the stable and ready. Yet you mopes defend this fat ******* and his retarded scheme.

Temple lost to UCLA 30-21 in a bowl game. So a MAC team with crappy athletes found a way to make it respectable against a legit Division I team( albeit on a down year). Temple had players drafted ahead of Miami in Golden's last year as well.

What's his record against teams with winning records?

ain't nobody bailing on Golden...just his homie UT OH D'Onofrio

I've bailed on Golden since he won't fire his butt buddy. That shows he is putting his friendship over the program. And that's unacceptable .
This right here. Does anyone doubt if Dorito was not Goldens boy that he would have been fired at the end of last season or at the latest in the middle of this season. Nepotism, plain and simple

At Temple? I have not looked it up. Probably not good considering he was int he MAC. Yet the impressive part is how he turned that program around. Made them top 7th nationally and more than held his own against a division I and in 2008 they lost 31-6 against #8 Penn State in the regular season. THe year after Golden left they beat Wyoming 37-15 (basically with Golden's recruits.).

You don't fire him after last season starting all those first year players. I also don't see us firing a coordinator mid season. Right now is the first logical time for us to part ways.. which I still think might happen.

Why would he fire MDO if they're on the same page?

It's not like they don't break down EVERY SINGLE SNAP.

Either Golden believes in HIS OWN system, or he thinks MDO is a buffoon, but he's keeping him on because they're friends.

Which scenario makes more sense?

Now maybe Golden AND D'Onofrio are both buffoons, but the idea that Golden is a smart guy who's sticking with an incompetent coach out of friendship doesn't make any sense to me.

I see many of you already have your pitchforks and are ready to hang Golden and Donofrio. I see this Miami hurricanes team and a see steam devoid of talent especially at the level of upperclassmen. Al Golden is a coach who stuck with this team when the Shapiro stuff really blew up. How quickly do we forget all that we went through? Remember how scared we were when we thought Golden might leave because he had no idea the extent of this mess after he signed the contract? Golden is an up and coming coach who many big programs would have offered on the spot had he decided to bolt. He stayed. He was a soldier and said I'm going to bring the U back. Sign a lifetime contract to be here in this mess and right the ship. Do you all remember that how grateful we all were that a coach like Al would stay behind despite the mess wee ere in (not created by him btw)? Now right after he gets us out of the NCAA scandal we are calling for his head because we went 9-3 and we lost to Duke, FSU and Va-tech. With an injured SteMo, Duke Johnson, and Dorsett for critical games of the year. We are not that good. You think that NCAA cloud didn't affect Golden recruiting? Just take a look at our seniors and Juniors on Defense:

Ufomba Kamalu DL 6-6 285 JR (MEDIOCRE, DOES NOT BELONG AT THE U)
91 Olsen Pierre DL 6-4 305 JR (OVERACHIEVER , BENCHWARMER AT THE U, DEPTH GUY)
93 Luther Robinson DL 6-3 303 SR (DOES NOT BELONG)
94 Kelvin Cain DL 6-3 250 SR (DOES NOT BELONG AT THE U)
95 David Perry DL 6-7 277 JR --(DOES NOT BELONG AT THE U)
96 Curtis Porter (GOOD PLAYER, COULD BE A ROTATION PLAYER-2 DEEP KIND OF GUY)
11 David Gilbert DL 6-4 250 SR ( DOES NOT BELONG AT THE U)
Anthony Chickillo DL 6-4 275 JR( ANOTHER 2 DEEP GUY IF WE HAD THE TALENT UP FRONT)
78 Justin Renfrow DL 6-6 320 SR( A VIRGINIA TRANSFER… NUFF SAID)
Shayon Green DL 6-3 264 SR (BENCHWARMER)

DBs
A.J. Highsmith DB 6-1 208 SR 37 (DOES NOT BELONG IN DUKE….. NEVERMIND THE U)
Ladarius Gunter DB 6-2 196 JR59 (SERVICIBLE DEPTH GUY)
22 Kacy Rodgers DB 6-2 212 SR ( Does Not Belong)

Lbs
Jimmy Gaines LB 6-3 240 SR (BENCHWARMER)
52 Denzel Perryman LB 6-1 240 JR (GOOD PLAYER, HE BELONGS)
Thurston Armbrister LB 6-3 233 JR (SERVICIBLE PLAYER FOR DEPTH)
31 Tyrone Cornileus LB 6-2 225 SR (HORRIBLE, DOES NOT BELONG IN MIAMI)

THESE ARE THE LEADERS OF THIS TEAM.DOES IT SURPRISE YOU WE GIVE UP 500 + A GAME?? ALL I SEE IS PERRYMANAND THAT'S IT. These guys are the Juniors and Seniors that we have. Now compare that to the contributors that we have on this team the playmakers: Artie Burns, Tracey Howard, Stacey Coley, Duke Johnson, Hoilett, AQM, and all the stud freshmen and sophomores we have. You see a culture change. Add this sick class we are bringing and compare our DL

Moten ( Miami Starter talent)
Valentine( Miami Starter Talent)
Chad Thomas( Miami Starter talent ala Lemonier)
Trent harris ( Miami Starter talent/2 deep guy)
Wyche( 2 deep guy)
Courtnel Jenkins ( 2 deep guy)
Demitrius Jackson (starter/ 2 deep guy)

THAT IS MIAMI TALENT. THose guys have more talent than what we have right now. Yet the problem is that next year they will be freshmen. Just like kaaya who is a MIAMI QB ( I BELIEVE STEPHEN MORRIS IS SERVICEABLE BUT NOT MIAMI CALIBER WOULD DO GREAT IN A PITTSBURGH, OR DUKE OR SOME OTHER CRAPPY MID DIVISION I PROGRAM BUT NOT THE U). With this talent Golden and his Flex 34 ( which bam a uses by the way) has a chance. How many times did we see cornelius and Highsmith miss tackles in open space? How many times did we see inferior players just not making plays? It is easy to burn Dono or Golden. Now they will have talent. I think by the time the incoming class are SOPHOMORES we will have enough talent in the upperclassmen to support and have BCS caliber stuff. By that time I expect Golden to just restock the shelves with quality ballers. It would be a shame if this fan base bailed out on Golden when he stuck by the U and is bringing us back with great classes little by little. THis is not Randy Shannon 2.0… there is a plan in place… The cupboard is going to be filled again. We are offering people based on talent not height aka Nigel bethel. We are bringing in another NASTY *** O-LINE. WE are in it for JC Jackson and Johnnie Dixon and still a shot at Dalvin Cook. By next year there are no more sections. Only SBB, and Ridley and a bunch of studs that want to play for the U that will see a program on the rise. Give it time. Be patient, fan base.. Golden needs 2016.. the year where the Canes are going to make serious noise.

i agree with you except kamalu to me actually has shown some potential. gilbert is damaged goods. Armbrister i can live with as a back up not a starter. you are basically echoing my feelings. great post

So that's what we have to keep our hopes alive? That they lost 31-6 against penn st. And they beat Wyoming? Dam, who's going to stop us now?

Which is why nycane I can't wait for the current class to become sophomores and see how much our freshmen will impact.

THey got killed by Penn Sate. The #8 team in the country in a major conference. Not as bad as some of the losses we have seen recently from the U. With a lot less talent I might say. Then in their bowl game they beat a team of comparable talent 37-15. Now Golden has the opportunity to recruit with the big boys without NCAA and a program starting to make the turn. If we keep winning next year as well 9-3/10-2… I think recruits will follow, depth will be established and 2015 we will be in any of the major Bowl games with 2016 maybe making a serious NC run.

Lol. If Al Golden isn't in a BCS Bowl by 2015 he is going to be out of a job.

While I would be disappointed and surprised if he hasn't made it to one by then. You are out of your mind if you think the University of Miami, a school not known for paying its coaches, is going to fire him anytime soon after giving him that huge contact extension. Miami ain't paying both him and another coach for the next 10 years.

I'm not bailing on Golden but if he doesn't want to fire Coach D and Franklin then he has to go. Win at all cost that is why he makes millions.

denzel needs to comeback. he can play himself higher. him, kirby, and figs at lb is a different type of athlete. i am comfortable in armbrister as a "BACK UP". Grace has to get stronger because he is too talented not to play.

Within the 10 weeks, we will find out exactly what Golden's intentions are with the program. One, we will know if he is stubborn enough to keep Dorito and this has been discussed ad nauseam. We all know the deal. Second, If we keep this class together and even flip a couple of other guys out there and bring in the class we think we can, we are already that much better just by subtracting last years bonafide dumpster fire of a senior class and substituting play makers all over the place.

I think, just by looking at the roster, we are looking at 2015 as a resurgence into something tangible. Next year will be a disaster on defense no matter who is in charge. Our offense has the potential to be fantastic, but holy cow at the defense. We might be the worst defense in college football even with a fresh DC with a more aggressive philosophy. If its still Dorito and his sprint backwards on roller skates D, then we could set some serious records. I might watch out of pure amusement.

But even with all that, 2 more recruiting classes, along with Golden using the waiver wire and bringing in JUCO's I think we'll be fine in 14 and make some serious noise in 15. Just my .02 pesos.

Donofrio is staying. Is he the best D coordinator in the world? Of course he is not. Yet he is pretty darn good.

I think it's funny that you put Kamalu as a "shouldn't be at the U guy" when he was brought in by Golden last year.

That said, I still want Golden here. He has to make a few changes though in his philosophy.
