For those that want to Bail on Golden

It doesn't take half a decade to turn around a football team. Golden has already shown that he doesn't have what it takes to succeed here. The sooner he's fired the better. We're not going anywhere with him.

Scapegoating D'onofrio won't change the fact that Golden is not the guy.

Yawn - 99% of us aren't calling for Golden's head.
Get off your high horse.

and yet 99% of the detractors say "if he doesn't fire D'Onofrio then he needs to be fired". IMO, you either have faith he'll make the correct decisions to move the program forward or you don't. If he honestly feels that firing coaches will be the ticket, I think he'd do it.

One thing is for sure, he needs to get the defense fixed at all costs. It is atrocious and if it isn't fixed then he'll be fired eventually. I'm sure he knows that.

Golden has recruited well, which is why your argument makes no sense.

We have talent. He just can't coach them to their full potential.

We have zero talent on the front 7 but two guys. Went years without bringing in any DTs and how many LBs left, could not get in or kicked of the team? Golden has brought in Duke, Howard, Burns and some others. How many 5 or 4 star DTs taken in the last 8 years????? Two years without any DTs that played or started.

I'm not bailing on Golden, but I am concerned about somethings that have discussed here ad nuseum. He has shown to be a good recruiter and has represented n pushed the brand well. The problems are a concern and we will see if he fixes them or doesn't, but the fact is that they are there. If you dig up old posts here from 2011 n 2012, 2014 was said to be the year we make a run at a BCS bowl game. The focus now is to close strong on an already great class. We will know about Golden n whether or not he is the right guy next year. That still doesn't mean as a concerned fan that is sick of being mediocre, I won't show displeasure at things I don't like.

If we get smoked by those corn holers in Lincoln next season I'm gonna start to waver but, for now I'm just gonna pray for our defense.

The number is much higher than 1%.

I don't care that i'm in the minority. I was one of the first ones to say Shannon wasn't the guy either. People are just in denial.

I agree.....I was being sarcastic. That is what the detractors keep throwing around though. There are a ton of people who think Al doesn't have what it takes.

I was right there with you on Shannon & Coker. Hated both hires from the start.

I'm parting ways with you on this one though.

Within the 10 weeks, we will find out exactly what Golden's intentions are with the program. One, we will know if he is stubborn enough to keep Dorito and this has been discussed ad nauseam. We all know the deal. Second, If we keep this class together and even flip a couple of other guys out there and bring in the class we think we can, we are already that much better just by subtracting last years bonafide dumpster fire of a senior class and substituting play makers all over the place.

I think, just by looking at the roster, we are looking at 2015 as a resurgence into something tangible. Next year will be a disaster on defense no matter who is in charge. Our offense has the potential to be fantastic, but holy cow at the defense. We might be the worst defense in college football even with a fresh DC with a more aggressive philosophy. If its still Dorito and his sprint backwards on roller skates D, then we could set some serious records. I might watch out of pure amusement.

But even with all that, 2 more recruiting classes, along with Golden using the waiver wire and bringing in JUCO's I think we'll be fine in 14 and make some serious noise in 15. Just my .02 pesos.

Donofrio is staying. Is he the best D coordinator in the world? Of course he is not. Yet he is pretty darn good.

So wht do you say about his D being 17th Nationally and pass D 14 Th nationally @ Temple? Anyone can put up a GIF and bring nothing to the table. But the guy produced at a crappy *** school and had players drafted FROM TEMPLE IN THE NFL!. Now imagine when he gets these 2 classes at the junior and senior level.

Shoot yourself in the face and choose another team to root for. Since when is mediocrity the standard, or even acceptable at the U?

I mean honestly...anyone citing their "sucesses" at Temple just doesn't get it. They beat NOBODY during their tenure at Temple. I know the Don Bailey Jr disciples will cry and scream "It's Temple"....well guess what...they're still Temple. It's not like he took them to anywhere of significance. Beating bad teams doesn't make you a great coach, it makes you the prettiest fat girl.

We beat 1 team with a winning record so far this year. You know what that means? It means we go down in history as one of THE worst 9 win teams in history. It's a sham.

I swear this is the Shannon/Coker denial period all over again. We saw similar posts over on Grassy during the end of both of those tenures where people kept defending and making excuses. Morons and apologist would cite Coker's overall record and his national title, Idiots would yell that Shannon needed more time....

Newflash...once it gets to the point where the fanbase is divided on a guy it's usually downhill from there. They're divided for a reason, namely because the results, 3 years in, have been divided at best.

I'll put it very clearly...if Al doesn't get rid of Onfrio then he isn't the right guy for the job. Any coach who could look at Onfrio's body of work to date and decide it's "ok" to bring him back for another year isn't the right guy for the job.

As I've stated before...I find it very hard to believe that Al is that stupid. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that Onfrio will be fired in the offseason. If he's not however....enough with the blind defense of the current regime. We have a problem that is very easy to identify...if he stands by and does nothing then he has to go. Period.

There is some truth to this statement and although I think Golden is the guy, he is fighting a huge uphill battle right now. He has already lost a huge portion of the fanbase and will play **** getting them back.

That is a big problem moving forward, considering our fanbase is already pathetic in terms of support as it is.

No doubt Al is at a crossroads.

That crossroad has a road to the left without Onfrio and a road to the right with Onfrio. What he decides this offseason is going to seal his fate. You simply cannot justify another year for a coordinator who is THIS bad.

It's simple in my eyes, if Al is stupid/stubborn enough to bring back Onfrio then he simply is in over his head. I like the guy and want him to succeed here...but there's simply no room for that type of nonsense at a program this big.

He will get all those fans right back if he wins next year. A win over FSU is not expected, but would get everybody on board. That probably isn't happening, but handling any team not named FSU or Clemson in conference should not be too much to ask. Also he can't lose to the Cornhuskers, just can't......

Golden should have bailed on Randy Shannon talent earlier in the season, and i bet we are playing in the ACCCG.

Well there is still a possibility that he keeps Dorito and succeeds here. Doubtful, but still possible.

Mark D'onofrio will cost Golden his job.

I don't see Golden making the correct decision and firing him. Giving up 500 yards to Duke, VT, Pitt and whoever else these last few weeks in year 3 is unacceptable.

If he's back next season then Golden has signed his own death certificate.

Al is putting his own job at risk by playing guys that shouldn't even suit up to put burgers in Burger Kings grill, along with Ono.

Talent wins ball games at Miami. Many fans here want a quick fix and expect Golden to turn it around based on scheme. Guess what? This is Division I football. You need players… ballers at your junior an senior year. All the players I listed our upperclassmen have no business playing for Miami and if they continue to miss tackles it does not matter if Saban is their DC. If/ When Golden has had a chance to suceed with HIS PLAYERS and not the #41 recruiting class in the **** nation, then we can judge if he belongs at Miami or not. It's funny before the FSU game and before the NCAA fiasco everyone was thankful for Golden and him sticking with the program despite having the opportunity to bolt. Remember the Wisconsin rumors? Or the Penn State rumors? if we fire Golden right now he would have his next offer in the next 5 minutes (see USC, maybe Texas, Gators act). Yet his honeymoon is up because we know we are not going to get hammered. So we become selfish impatient ******* and start crying for wins WITH A BUNCH OF PANSIES AS OUR UPPERCLASSMEN!. YOU THINK SABAN WOULD WIN WITH THIS TEAM? WITH THESE PANSIES??? HAVE YOU SEEN SABAN'S CLASSES? THE AMOUNT OF STUDDERY INVOLVED ON HIS D? It makes his D coordinator look good. It makes Saban look good. How did Urban do his last year in Florida when the talent level started dropping off? Exactly… you need players. What players? MATURE JUNIORS AND SENIORS that can carry the load and have GROWN MEN BODIES. I am not settling for mediocrity a the U. But many of you are stuck in 1989 when the college football landscape was different. Now everyone recruits inner city kids and throws $$$$ and houses at them. Now Saban makes more money than some NFL coaches. Coordinators cost over $1 million.

I will say this. If by 2015 I see that we are not a top 25 Defense I will gladly cal for a change. But I will give Golden next year and the year after to get us baling big time. Why? Because he deserves the chance to develop his players. He deserves to have Moten, Chad Thomas and Valentine playing as Sophomores and having tracy Howard and the rest of our sophomores playing as seniors . If anyone deserves this chance for sticking with us and seeing us through the NCAA it's Al Golden.

So Shove it up your pie hole.
