I see many of you already have your pitchforks and are ready to hang Golden and Donofrio. I see this Miami hurricanes team and a see steam devoid of talent especially at the level of upperclassmen. Al Golden is a coach who stuck with this team when the Shapiro stuff really blew up. How quickly do we forget all that we went through? Remember how scared we were when we thought Golden might leave because he had no idea the extent of this mess after he signed the contract? Golden is an up and coming coach who many big programs would have offered on the spot had he decided to bolt. He stayed. He was a soldier and said I'm going to bring the U back. Sign a lifetime contract to be here in this mess and right the ship. Do you all remember that how grateful we all were that a coach like Al would stay behind despite the mess wee ere in (not created by him btw)? Now right after he gets us out of the NCAA scandal we are calling for his head because we went 9-3 and we lost to Duke, FSU and Va-tech. With an injured SteMo, Duke Johnson, and Dorsett for critical games of the year. We are not that good. You think that NCAA cloud didn't affect Golden recruiting? Just take a look at our seniors and Juniors on Defense:

Ufomba Kamalu DL 6-6 285 JR (MEDIOCRE, DOES NOT BELONG AT THE U)
91 Olsen Pierre DL 6-4 305 JR (OVERACHIEVER , BENCHWARMER AT THE U, DEPTH GUY)
93 Luther Robinson DL 6-3 303 SR (DOES NOT BELONG)
94 Kelvin Cain DL 6-3 250 SR (DOES NOT BELONG AT THE U)
95 David Perry DL 6-7 277 JR --(DOES NOT BELONG AT THE U)
96 Curtis Porter (GOOD PLAYER, COULD BE A ROTATION PLAYER-2 DEEP KIND OF GUY)
11 David Gilbert DL 6-4 250 SR ( DOES NOT BELONG AT THE U)
Anthony Chickillo DL 6-4 275 JR( ANOTHER 2 DEEP GUY IF WE HAD THE TALENT UP FRONT)
78 Justin Renfrow DL 6-6 320 SR( A VIRGINIA TRANSFER… NUFF SAID)
Shayon Green DL 6-3 264 SR (BENCHWARMER)

DBs
A.J. Highsmith DB 6-1 208 SR 37 (DOES NOT BELONG IN DUKE….. NEVERMIND THE U)
Ladarius Gunter DB 6-2 196 JR59 (SERVICIBLE DEPTH GUY)
22 Kacy Rodgers DB 6-2 212 SR ( Does Not Belong)

Lbs
Jimmy Gaines LB 6-3 240 SR (BENCHWARMER)
52 Denzel Perryman LB 6-1 240 JR (GOOD PLAYER, HE BELONGS)
Thurston Armbrister LB 6-3 233 JR (SERVICIBLE PLAYER FOR DEPTH)
31 Tyrone Cornileus LB 6-2 225 SR (HORRIBLE, DOES NOT BELONG IN MIAMI)

THESE ARE THE LEADERS OF THIS TEAM.DOES IT SURPRISE YOU WE GIVE UP 500 + A GAME?? ALL I SEE IS PERRYMANAND THAT'S IT. These guys are the Juniors and Seniors that we have. Now compare that to the contributors that we have on this team the playmakers: Artie Burns, Tracey Howard, Stacey Coley, Duke Johnson, Hoilett, AQM, and all the stud freshmen and sophomores we have. You see a culture change. Add this sick class we are bringing and compare our DL

Moten ( Miami Starter talent)
Valentine( Miami Starter Talent)
Chad Thomas( Miami Starter talent ala Lemonier)
Trent harris ( Miami Starter talent/2 deep guy)
Wyche( 2 deep guy)
Courtnel Jenkins ( 2 deep guy)
Demitrius Jackson (starter/ 2 deep guy)

THAT IS MIAMI TALENT. THose guys have more talent than what we have right now. Yet the problem is that next year they will be freshmen. Just like kaaya who is a MIAMI QB ( I BELIEVE STEPHEN MORRIS IS SERVICEABLE BUT NOT MIAMI CALIBER WOULD DO GREAT IN A PITTSBURGH, OR DUKE OR SOME OTHER CRAPPY MID DIVISION I PROGRAM BUT NOT THE U). With this talent Golden and his Flex 34 ( which bam a uses by the way) has a chance. How many times did we see cornelius and Highsmith miss tackles in open space? How many times did we see inferior players just not making plays? It is easy to burn Dono or Golden. Now they will have talent. I think by the time the incoming class are SOPHOMORES we will have enough talent in the upperclassmen to support and have BCS caliber stuff. By that time I expect Golden to just restock the shelves with quality ballers. It would be a shame if this fan base bailed out on Golden when he stuck by the U and is bringing us back with great classes little by little. THis is not Randy Shannon 2.0… there is a plan in place… The cupboard is going to be filled again. We are offering people based on talent not height aka Nigel bethel. We are bringing in another NASTY *** O-LINE. WE are in it for JC Jackson and Johnnie Dixon and still a shot at Dalvin Cook. By next year there are no more sections. Only SBB, and Ridley and a bunch of studs that want to play for the U that will see a program on the rise. Give it time. Be patient, fan base.. Golden needs 2016.. the year where the Canes are going to make serious noise.

people are down on golden because of the defense, you dont need college all americans or 5 stars across the board to stop giving up 500 yards a game to everybody, and 300 plus on the ground to ....duke. there has to be a better way

The Flex 34 is a big boy D where you need the horses to produce. The horses are on their way but they will be freshmen. BTW by 2015 I expect us to make a major bowl game. 2016 I mean National Championship good.

NCAA Scandal…. u think this year is a coincidence? That we have a top 5 class? I mean his first year was salvaging a class basically. Last year his first full year handcuffed and this year for most of the ear he was handcuffed till the NCAA finally came out with their mickey mouse verdict. Still we managed a top 5 class. Now the playing field is level. Now when he took us through the **** desert and we can see the light we turn on him because our Seniors and Juniors suck?? Now is not the time.

Golden has recruited well, which is why your argument makes no sense.

We have talent. He just can't coach them to their full potential.

yes he has recruited well. Except that his guys are last years class and this years class. The previous guys under shannon and his first class sucked. Hence why we suck. Did you see the list of our seniors and juniors on D? Those guys SUCK and most of them do not belong in Miami. You do not win with frosh and sophomores. Now tell me again how my argument makes no sense?

Most of the juniors were recruited by Golden. I understand it was a thrown together class. But they're still Golden's guys.

Exactly… if you understand it was a "patch" class then we can't expect those guys to carry us. Look at this year.. last years class has been balling and even last years class is not as good as this years class because NCAA mess was still strong. This year we are bringing str8 up beasts on both sides of the ball. I for one am excited to see our freshmen develop next year and seeing the new recruits ball. But I wouldn't be surprised if we are 9-3 as our DL (our best players at least) will be a bunch of freshmen. By 2015 Expect BCS and 2016 National Championship status ala Auburn, FSU, Bama

Questions?

What were Vag Tech and Dukes recruiting classes ranked for the past 5 years?

Better than UM? NO? Did we win those games or were we blown out in both?

Is it too much to ask to not give up over 500 yards of offense to two average offensive teams? (Vag tech #98, Duke #68)

Do you guys really want a coach that needs the 78 Steel Curtain on D, and 99 St. Louis Rams offense in order to be successful?

Funny that you say Randy left no talent. a large portion of Randy's non talent is the only reason Golden has had 1 year of respectable defense. What Randy did not leave was depth. What Golden is not doing is player development. I'm still waiting to see what player on defense we have who has made large improvement since being under Golden. Perryman isn't much better than when he got here. Chick is worse. Deon has been hurt. Most of our defensive starters are playing just like they did last year except they are bigger and slower.

I'm not saying I want Golden fired, but we are not seeing results on the field. I know you're going to say wins and losses, but this is the weakest schedule we've had in a very long time.

I guess when 2016 comes around, if the defense still looks like garbage, we can keep blaming Randy for not leaving talent.

These are the same guys that wanted Butch gone. Freaking clueless! How does Al's 3rd year recruiting class compare to Randy's? He did this with the NCAA having over his head. WTF was Randy doing his 4th year recruiting wise to only leave 3-4 commits in the class..Wtf was that?

I am not sold on Denofrio and wish he was gone but I also realize we have jags like 22 30 59 34 just to name a few stinking up the field!!

If he doesn't fire Onfrio...you bet your *** I'm bailing.

By that token I refuse to believe Golden is that stupid. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that Onfrio will be fired in the offseason.

I'm starting to believe that he is that stupid. He is more loyal to D'onofrio than he is to the program.

Maybe we are the same fans that wanted Coker and Randy gone. You know, a LOT of people were saying to give them time. I remember always fighting with people on the message boards telling me how crazy I am when I bashed a couple of Randy's recruiting classes. Hearing how we filled needs, got underrated players, etc. You know how many times a heard fans claiming they just feel the difference in the program and if I can't I'm nuts? No, that feeling is blind optimism.

Please inform us on the hidden things you see that makes us "clueless" to question if Golden is the right man for the job? He has proven he is a good recruiter and good talking to the media. What else?

Has he proven to be an elite talent developer? We have yet to see that, as too many players are actually taking steps backwards? Part of being a good coach is knowing your players and putting them in the best position to succeed. Chickillo was mentioned. One of Al's most highly rated recruits. Remember how good he looked his freshman year? He was asked to be something he is not, and you have seen the results as his sack numbers have lessened each year. One player, but the overall picture scares you. What kind of player would Chickillo have become if he was asked to continue improving on the aspects of his game he had been working on since an early age. I thought players first, then plays. Did u look at Chickillo in highschool and say, man he'd be a great gap filler?

Has he proven to be a great motivator? Man when I heard we were getting a coach with a degree in psychology, I was smiling from ear to ear. But I'm watching these other teams play with so much passion and energy, and chippiness, and wonder why we aren't? Between after game snickers bars and the constant praising of other teams, their is just no edge anymore. Lets not forget the partying like its 99 after beating sub par teams. Wtf is that? Randy had constant excuses, constantly praised other teams, smiling ear to ear after we were able to survive Duke and the long *** walk. Al does the same ****.

Has he proven to be a great game day coach? How many times have we had to play catch up after coming out slow in the 1st half? Yea a lot of times we made good halftime adjustments, but why aren't we ready for the start of the game? Even coming off of buy weeks, why does it take so long to figure out what the other team is doing?

Al hasn't proven **** to not question if he is the right man for the job. Their has been many great recruiters that could never get it to work on the field. So if you want to form your opinion based on recruiting rankings and overly dramatic videos, be my guest.

A great coach doesn't need a roster stocked with top talent to be successful. Any competent coach can do that.

A great coach gets the most out of his players. His team excels despite its talent limitations. He manages, and schemes, and motivates, and devises ways to make things happen beyond what his players are naturally capable of.....

Three years in to this regime, and it is obvious Golden is NOT a great coach. He has had no success beyond the expected. Every time he comes up against a good team, we get smacked around.

You can argue all you want about whether or not Golden is competent. Whether or not he can get the job done once our roster is absolutely loaded. But all should agree by this point that he isn't a great coach. What makes the situation difficult is that he appears to be a great CEO. We need for him to keep control over the things he does well, and to delegate the rest of the tasks to others that are more suited. But it takes a long time for someone to accept their shortcomings, and I don't think Golden is anywhere near that point in his career, unfortunately.....

How has he proven to be a great CEO? We will know more this off season, but if he keeps the worst defensive coordinator this program has ever seen because he is his buddy, what kind of CEO would you say he is?
