For those bashing our defensive staff for not closing...

look those off field support staff nonsense only really make a diff when you have a product on the field that wins. last year, cooney got us pope. this year we went 7-6 and ended up well you know

That's not what they were billed as to us though. It was never "These guys are nice supplements to the program as long as we're winning 10+ games and then they'll actually be able to deliver from the high schools/neighborhoods they're connected to".

They were sold to us as wayyyyy more than that. Which was obviously an unrealistic expectation. Soooo I don't wanna hear their names again with ANY expectations attached as it should just be viewed as pure fluff from their apologists.

James Coley was the lead recruiter for Tyrique Stevenson. Joe Pannunzio was the lead recruiter for Khris Bogle. I guess they got a lot better at recruiting since they left Miami.

Today wasn’t about individual coaches “whiffing.” It was about a program that needs to regain its respect on the field.

With all due respect, it all boils down to the highest bidder. IF Miami can come close with their bid, we will get a lot of them. If we can't match or come close, kids are leaving to the highest bidder. This holds true for many, if not most, of the higher ranked players from South FL. Without getting into details, I can promise you Tyrique went to the highest bidder. And to tell you the truth, I can't blame him or his mom. It is what it is.

Not sure that is fair. Coley is a much better recrutier than Banda, at UM and anywhere else.

The great thing about South Florida recruiting is there is alway the next cycle for us to get excited about only to be left at the alter again.

Rinse and repeat. The NCAA and SEC are killing college football as you see how ticket sales for the championship game are awful and the ratings last week sucked.

Maybe they will wake up and allow a more competitive product.
What I've been saying. This keeps up and college football will be three competitive teams (Alabama, Clemson and maybe OSU). Everybody else will lose interest.

As this country brings in more immigrants, soccer will displace football.

LOL what a hater, you need to step away from crootin for a few weeks mane
Are the families reporting the income they receive when they get bags? If the rest of us report our income, and they don't, why should I have sympathy for them, even if they're from poor families.

If they are getting bags, they are professional athletes. Bama's titles should be vacated for playing with pros.

Wonder how they got better at recruiting???? Oh wait you said bags aren’t the problem...
Stop using bags as an excuse. It's about winning!!! This bad season is why 2020 kids have started to decommit. It's about a winning culture. Win next year and the 2020 kids will be back un the fold.

@DMoney can you tell me what ******* use Banda is on this staff then? Like do you think if we fired him he'd be hired by a top P5 school? I don't think he or Patke have any business being coaches here.

bagz in football happen but not to everybody, yall boys just want an excuse
Agreed, you think Bogle got a bag? Yeah a bag of pocket change. They sold him on the NFL storyline. They’re 6 deep on DL at Bama, call me when he starts. He could have started here from the get go, put minimum 3yrs of play on tape for the pros. We have sent a few kids to the league, too. Good luck with the Red Elephants kid.

Would you want to play defense with an offense that goes 3 and out and a punter with the leg strength of Lieutenant Dan?

The kids see 7-6. That’s what we are right now.
What do they see in Tallahassee? Coaches that relate to there culture?

Buffoons don’t produce top 5 defenses. They aren’t the problem.

With regards to recruiting, would "non-buffoons" do something like liking the fake *** pro UM tweets of a kid that they apparently know has been bought and paid for by another team?

Bottom line from reading this thread.....It's not a fun time to be a Cane.

El Jefe's 2019 team song.

Started from the bottom, now we're here
Started from the bottom, now my whole team effing here....

I am a firm believer in just win and they will come. I can honestly say that most of the games we played in the last 2 years I thought were winnable. With the exception of 1 or 2 games I thought we had the better team/ with a chance to win. I get it, no excuses. Some of these borderline kids would have come if we where 11-2, 10-3 or 9-4. Not all but it wouldn’t have been as bad. And let’s not forget that Richt had the final say on some of these recruits, and in hindsight, I think he lost his touch to put it kindly. He is the one who sent the coaches to see the players, and we were scratching ours heads saying why are they going here instead of over there. Why did this coach go see that player. Who did John Richt actually go see on the west coast!!!

Until this time next year, we can waste our texting skills venting, but only time will tell.

Go canes

Why stop playing when there’s time on the clock? Recruiting is crazy.

I remember when we used to bash our staff for not being persistent enough. The important thing here is that we kept recruiting Martin Emerson. We didn’t put all our eggs in the TS basket.
