For those bashing our defensive staff for not closing...

FSU had a worse season than us, just out of curiosity what is their recruiting rank?
And this staff is so terrible at landing blue chippers, they should be chasing after 3*'s with high ceilings like Butch did during probation. Make smart value decisions until you start winning regularly and can start chasing better recruits. Know who you are and learn to adapt and overcome. Or don't and end up with no depth and praying for grad transfers (other people's garbage) to work out.

Rinse and repeat. The NCAA and SEC are killing college football as you see how ticket sales for the championship game are awful and the ratings last week sucked.

Maybe they will wake up and allow a more competitive product.

This is the first season I enjoyed NFL more than college football. Since the BCS started, CFB is on the decline.
 
This top 5 total defense stuff is meaningless to recruits. Take a look at the teams in the top 10 total defense and that should tell you all you need to know. Clemson is probably the only team in the top 10 total defense with a top 10 recruiting class. It's just like how the leading scorer in college hoops is rarely the best player in college hoops.

Weak argument. The punter already left weeks ago. The offense is what it is and why the changes. Manny fired the entire offensive staff. The record was a down year, off year. A good salesperson easily overcomes these obstacles.

The bigger problem is the kids in SFL. They are entitled seeking all the attention. The good ones know who they are and are pimped by family and handlers early on. UM knows this but continues to make the same mistakes; i.e. allow a recruit to commit and take other trips. This needs to stop! Hope Diaz changes this negative trend yesterday.

I like this strategy.. The marcus crowley's but we can't hang on to them. Gotta find a way to finish with these guys
 
Dmoney - I’m with you, but I also say the administration isn’t serious about us winning. We do things just to get by. Allow manny to make some big hires on offense and special teams. Allow more analyst! We have way too many kids in south Florida that take this stuff serious and would rep the home team, but the home team ain’t taking this serious.

We did not have a top 5 type Defense. We played the 2nd worst FBS in college football. Anytime we faced a decent offense LSU, GTech, Wisconsin with a running game we get slaughtered. Two of those teams ran for 300+ yards and threw thew the ball less than 15 times. Defense was waaaaay overrated.

From my time since following crootin since 2002-2003and for Miami yes he was. I could only compare him to Golden and his boys. He didnt go after the right guys all the time, and he had his share of Randy specials of guys that didnt need to be here. HE cut off way too many croots, but I dont remember him getting beat out for this many guys, if you played a bag game that we couldnt play he was out. Name a better crooter? Dude knows every body ..just my opinion

This is the it. It’s about a paradigm shift. We are aiming at the nationally ranked, big time recruits as if we are one of those programs. We needed to be after the middle and lower tier 4* kids with update and the 3* kids that are on the cusp and develop them. Get a few seasons of consistent winning with those kids and few top end kids and start to build ourselves up over time. We are not a top end school so stop pretending and hurting our roster

You could list a hundred recruits and some of y'all would list a hundred excuses...one for each...about why they weren't Miami Hurricanes.

Whose fault is it then?

Its not like this defensive staff is new. They have been here.

True. Most of us could recruit for Bama since it is all about saban, $$$, and cars. I only way out is on the field, you are right. Thing is, the coaches are on display there also. We had everyone’s attention last year and staff allowed teal to be flat in Pitt and then the next two games. That stopped our recruiting last year. But for the early signing thing it would have been a washout like this year. I blame the staff for all but the Clemson loss.

Randy was lazy and didn’t feel he needed to work so hard for many targets. Randy is a nice guy but has zero charisma. If Randy was on this squad right now he would get beat just as bad, if not worse.

That being said, my beef with Diaz and our staff is we get beat too many times with kids that’s aren’t getting bags. Something is fundementally wrong with our strategy.

I just listed FORTY FIVE Power 5 or high end Group of 5 prospects from the state of Florida...and NONE are currently Miami Hurricanes and we have 14...FOURTEEN(!) commitments in the 2019 class. 14! And we only currently have ONE visit scheduled in January. ONE. There are like 24 listed defensive prospects. Miami has none currently commited from that list.

Why?

And whose fault is it?

I am sure South Carolina backed up the Brinks Truck for John Dixon.

Shannon has no charisma you're right, Golden had tons and Shannon was a better crooter, he had respect of all coaches and kids and parents didn't lie to him. Randy wasnt lazy until he knew he was getting fired, yea bad character flaw but **** Jimbo did the same thing. Im no Shannon fan but Im telling you we wouldnt be getting beat for all these guys if he was our DC
