Final Four vs. UCONN - 4/1 8:49pm EDT on CBS

I am a UConn fan who has never anointed my team as the greatest. I am surprised and grateful for UConn to be in the Final Four. The UConn fans I know have nothing but respect (and some fear) for what Miami has accomplished and for the challenge they'll present. The best answer to your question was well summarized in a story appearing earlier this week.

Athletic Article

Basically, teams were defending UConn by sagging off of (dorking) Andre Jackson who is not a great shooter. UConn's offense stalled, Jackson was taking too many long shots, and we were losing. I think McDermott & Creighton tried it first, Miller and Xavier used it as well as others (like Pitino in the 1st round). It took Hurley a little bit to solve it, and he has with a number of strategies that the article details, and since then UConn is 13 and 2 with the Marquette BET loss due, in large part, because AJ only played 16 minutes due to foul trouble.

Answering since you asked...and UConn is undefeated against non-conference opponents. I do agree though, with a common theme on this thread, that UConn has never faced a team quite like Miami yet this year.

Thank you, UCONN fan. Your presence here has been catalogued and officially recorded in the ledger.

That’s a better argument to make. But I’m sure they also get more opportunities bc they hold teams to 60 points a game, compared to Miami’s 70. Over 30+ less steals on the season for Uconn as well. I believe Miami holds a decent edge in turnover % per possession overall as well.

There’s more factors that go into to the numbers than just 6 guys average “X amount” compared to 3 guys.
One thing to consider.....UConn plays solid, aggressive defense but sometimes get too aggressive. They commit a lot of fouls. This game could very well be decided at the free throw line. Miami has the edge. They ranks 21st in the country in fouls committed. UConn? 262nd. We'll have to play disciplined defense. A lot will be determined by how tight the refs are calling the game. If they let the teams bang, advantage UConn because of their size. If they're calling ticky-tac fouls, advantage Miami because of your guards ability to drive.

Want to say 3/4ths of this article is about UConn. When they mention Miami, you guessed it: NIL. Premise of the article: why are we surprised UConn is doing this, they’ve won the most since the turn of the century. They’ve beaten everyone by 15+ this tournament. When they went 2-6 it’s because Hurley was distracted by “bad officiating.” I’ll tell you what, if UConn gets off to a poor start and Hurley perceives the officiating as biased, I’m very interested to see how Hurley acts on the sidelines.

This’ll be a bigger upset than NCSU over Houston in Albuquerque the way these reporters are writing. No matter the deficit or lead expect both teams to make runs.

Less than 24 hours away to prove what they got.

LETS GO CANES!!
Except in the minds of the talking heads, a 5 seed over a 4 seed is hardly what I'd call an upset.

So here we are it’s game day and I must admit my expectations are high for a Miami team to represent themselves well. Can they do it against the elephant in the room there’s this little part of me that says we could win this thing but the depth and physicality of this UCONN team just might be too much. That being said I’m so proud and so happy to have had such a great year. Top 4 finish is not chickenfeed. GO CANES !

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN AND GOD SAVE HURRICANES BASKETBALL🙌❤️🦍

Who's gonna tell him?

Ok, so continuing the conversation from earlier in the week, you can get into the building for just $40+fees on Stubhub right now.

You can get a lower level ticket for $108+fees.

You can get a ticket in the back of one of the eight sections that are court side, behind the benches and across from the benches for $458 +fees right now.

I expect even better opportunities as the day goes on, and if you are there in person, you can probably get in for almost nothing when it tips.
