Coney just become the top priority in this cycle. Welp.
Good luck getting him with this press.

From a recruiting perspective, that's the worst part of this. We all thought Bruce/Scarlett were going to announce for us tonight, right? Well...unless they want to look like (to the media) that they're OK with stuff like this going down at Miami...expect them to go on elsewhere now.

This taints us yet again after all of the NCAA ****. I'm about to put these two idiots in the same category of hate I have reserved for Shapiro.

C'mon man. This **** will have no bearing on Bruce and Scarlett's decisions.
I disagree. They could both still announce for Miami tonight, but as this story gets traction in the media and eventually on ESPN...watch what happens.

Unless it gets played up bigtime how well James and the University handled this with swift/quick action to dismiss them from the team and from school, the story will be that two Miami players drugged and raped a 17-year-old girl orally/vaginally/anally. Folks will be in Bruce/Scarlett's ears, and will be dying to use this to turn them from the school.

The timing of this sucks balls. I never want it to happen at all, but for this to break THE DAY OF Bruce/Scarlett's announcements...there will be an impact on their ultimate destination EVEN if they verbally commit to us tonight.

This will affect all recruits as well. Who knows how big this story will get, and if James/the University will get any credit for how they handled it. If it gets bad, we could be just as fvcked as we were under "The Cloud".

Way overblown with the drama there. Two players committed a crime and were quickly and decisively dismissed from the team. To say this could be as bad as "the Cloud" is just silly. All of the criminal problems at other schools, in which those schools didn't handle it nearly as well as UM did, certainly haven't hurt their recruiting.

maybe it won't get an inordinate about of coverage. these guys are no name guys, not household names. and more importantly it was immediately dealt with. what more can the school do in this situation?
Hoping it won't get a crazy amount of coverage is highly wishful thinking. It's already on Twitter like wildfire, and will end up on SportsCenter tonight, and on College Football Live this afternoon. This didn't have to be Duke Johnson/Denzel Perryman committing this crime...it's Miami football players being bad again, and that's always good enough for the media. Especially given that they have admitted to drugging the victim and getting her drunk.

I'm definitely not knocking the school for how it was handled. I'm proud of that. I'm just looking at it from the POV of what the media will want to report more than anything. They'll want the sordid details of the incident because that drives ratings and viewership. The fact that James/the University acted in a swift manner in dismissing these guys for said sordid affair? Yeah...that won't be what gets the coverage front-and-center...that will likely be a footnote at the end of the report on SC/CFB Live.

I'm just pointing out that it will indeed affect our image, and it will likely affect our recruitment of the 2015 class for sure, and possibly some of the 2016 kids...all due to the negative recruiting that is assuredly coming from Jimbo, Muschamp, Saban, Petrino, Strong, and whoever else is up against us for recruits.
its a one day story....bottom line...the animals are off the team. school dealt with it properly as you also pointed out. these stories tend to escalate when the school doesn't deal with the players or they are perceived to be getting special treatment. clearly that is not happening here.

Honestly, what is even worse is that the "victim" was underage...regardless if they raped her or not, the fact that she is underage is what will get them booted off of the team.

The report said juvenile, but then said all parties involved are UM students.

Personally, I'm a big fan of the whole, "innocent until proven guilty," aspect of our judicial system.
Burden of proof is on the prosecution and not the defendant.

Let's not rush to judgement until actual facts are known.

Time for Gorlden to give Eddie Johnson a call.

Eddie looks like a choir boy in comparison to those two savage animals. All Eddie did was beat up some hapless spoiled ***it.

This. Eddie had your standard off the field ****ups.

but slipping a girl a drug to have *** with her. That is as bad as it gets. Think about having a daughter or sister in college, and this is what happens to her. It's beyond awful.

I may be overreacting, and if it turns out that I did--I'll own up to it in front of everyone on here, and that's a promise. I'm not afraid of that.

However, this is going to be bad. There's no way to turn it around and make it good once the narrative hits ESPN...especially with the details rolling out. This will be used against us by anyone and everyone who feels like trying to use it.

Are you new to college football?

As bad as it is, this is a 1 day story and happens at big universities all around the country.

Already dealing with stupid ***** on facebook trying to compare this to the FSU situation, some ******* just gonna have to delete me today i guess. No Miami fan is gonna defend the actions of these two. While FSU fans ran that girl out of school and used a corrupt TPD to cover up any wrongdoing. Yea thats the same thing alright....

Wow! Alot of guys rushing to judgment here. How about we hear the facts first. Quite frankly, girls nowadays, you never know. We though JWinston was cooked but there just wasnt enough evidence supposedly to charge him. There is unfortunately a very thin line between consensual *** and rape with some of these girls nowadays if you dont call them the night after. Just sayin..Lets hear the facts first.

(And just for the record, I have 3 daughters and 11 grand-daughters. So I am sensitive to the issue here.)

If girl was underage there is no line, not in FL. 17 will get you 15.

In Florida consensual *** with a 16-17 year old is legal as long as you are 24 years old and under, and the 16-17 year old is not disabled.
