Fernando Mendoza

I just watched the first half of Cal vs Syracuse game to try to sell myself on Mendoza. He’s trash. So far he’s thrown two terrible picks, zero td’s, and taken a couple bad sacks. He’s a statue back there plus he’s indecisive. But he did go to Columbus though so we’ll probably take him
He's certainly not trash. He's no Cam Ward but he's a solid QB. Solid QBs have off days and throw picks. It happens. I'm not shilling for this kid but I wouldn't mind taking him to compete with the other QBs. What I wouldn't do is guarantee him the starting job and for that reason I just don't think he's ultimately worth the effort. Go big or stand pat and use the money elsewhere.

Agreed! Bring him in for a reasonable NIL, let him compete for the starting position and spend the rest of the money on filling in last positions.

This would seem like a good fit for both sides.

Columbus grad. Dad was a OL and played with Mario at Columbus. His family lives literally 5 minutes from the UM campus.

His mom suffers from ALS I believe and it has worsened over the years, so playing at home may be a consideration.

I do like the fact that he has a lot of playing experience and in particular against ACC opponents.

I’ve known the kid and his dad since he was 9 or 10 because my son played with him for years at South Miami youth football.

I’ve thought of asking his dad about what’s going on but it’s probably a very personal family decision and I don’t want to intrude.

He is the nicest kid you could imagine and teammates will love him.

He has good skills and a good arm, and although not very athletic, he’s very smart.

We can overcome some of his minor limitations if we surround him with a great OL and some good playmakers, which we will.

I like Emory but not sure if I want to throw him in there against some really good teams to open up the 2025 season.

Beck when he's on but the problem is one moment he looks like a first round NFL QB. The next, he looks like TVD.
Yeap, Beck was awful for a majority of the season. He did play better until he played Texas in SEC title game. Then he got hurt.

He had a stretch in middle of season where he went 10 TDs and had 12 INTs over 6 league games. Id take Mendoza over that version anyday of week.

Beck has nfl grade. Up and down year and will be back one more year for some team. Had 28 tuddys, 12 ints.

Mendoza will never make the nfl. 16 tuddys and 6 ints…meh
Average college QB.
Year 4, Mario should have better than an average QB.
