Fernando Mendoza

He has another year of eligibility if he wants it and could make a ton in NIL next year while re-improving his draft stock.

Not sure where he'll get drafted now..he was already falling to 3rd round from what I saw and that was before his injury. He was a possible #1 overall pick before the season started.

Another year in college is definitely not out of consideration.
Qb class is weak he still could get drafted in a decent spot

If Mario doesn’t have any big time surprises in his bag and he’s not promising Mendoza anything, I’m open to the idea of him coming in.
From this snippet, it almost sounds as if Miami has told FM that we can’t guarantee him anything (hence the gamble).

If Mendoza comes here for a token NIL with the understanding we would make it right in 26 with a standout season in 25, I’m 100 in, especially if we are able to use those funds in 25 towards more weapons.

Well if UGA wants Mendoza over whatever is happening with Beck, doesn't that answer our question?

Not that UGA is necessarily a good barometer for what we should do at QB but at least they know how to win their conference and playoff games.
I mean probably but beck could also want out. I don’t think we should automatically think a player is better or worse because a team wants him or not

I still think there's a name none of us are discussing or considering who could end up being our starting QB next year.

You guys need to keep in mind this isn't the only window to acquire talent prior to the 2025 season. A lot can happen between now and next August/September.

Just because certain people have committed, stated they are return to their teams, etc etc doesn't mean things can't change in a major way in the upcoming months. We've already seen these deals aren't 100% binding in some instances. Let it play out because the fact of the matter is there isn't an option available RIGHT NOW that merits being in a hurry to make a QB acquisition.

It’s not that most fans don’t think Mendoza is good. He is a good college QB. A good college QB can win a National Championship at Georgia given the talent on Georgia’s roster and their ability to play complimentary football.

Miami needs great QB play to compete for a National Championship until shown otherwise.
I think Miami needs a smart QB who can, and does, run enough to make defenses account for him on the ground.

Don’t throw INTs, make good decisions, occasional designed QB runs.

Doesn’t have to be great or elite… unless we decide to run w the 2024 D. In that case we need an all time great QB, and even then probably go to a second tier bowl game. Probably.

Beck will get drafted. Succeeding is up to him.

I agree 💯. I think people are underestimating the quality of our roster in terms of the guys that have been developing and waiting their turn. Although we have a few needs, overall I think we are finally turning the corner with good depth at most spots.

People aren't seeing it man. The portal era has Miami fans thinking that if a kid sat behind a starter he must not be any good, so Miami's roster is full of JAGs and needs 30 guys for the portal like Colorado to be any good. In reality, we have a ton of depth we can rely on.

Jojo, Carr, Lyle, Kinsler (and a ton of other OL), Lofton, Scott, J Horton, all the DEs, Popo, the Bobbys, Hayes, Mack, Day, and yes, Emory. I'm sure I'm missing a few. These guys have little to no stats next to their names. At a Clemson or ND, fans would be talking about how excited they are to see the next gen step up. But not here. CIS thinks they're all bums.

Does CIS think that, or does the Coaching staff think that?

Are the fans the ones bringing in portal players every year, or are the Coaches?

Well it’s a year for baseball. I looked into it a little bit more for football. Usually about 6 months if all goes right.

Less strain on the UCL throwing a football. Slower arm speed.
Didnt Purdy have the same injury in the playoffs against the Eagles a few couple years back? He was full go to start the next season after surgery.

Pribula canceled on IU and not the other way around.

I don’t think Beck will even be playing next year based on what @JayCane20 has said. Ewers seems like the big name guy that could be available if we want to play chicken with the NFL draft again.

If surgery is required, then availability for next season becomes an issue. Lot depends on his injury

Beck has nfl grade. Up and down year and will be back one more year for some team. Had 28 tuddys, 12 ints.

Mendoza will never make the nfl. 16 tuddys and 6 ints…meh
Average college QB.
Year 4, Mario should have better than an average QB.

Not sure what Beck has shown this year that makes him clearly better than Mendoza, and let’s not forget he’s surrounded by a top 3 roster in CFB.

With the injury concern and higher price tag on Beck, I think Mendoza would make more sense.

So far this season the coaches think that. Based on 247 we have brought in 4 guys and actually have the highest avg per commit in the portal. Quality not quantity means we are leaning more on trusting development of the last few HS classes as most of the elite teams do. I hope this pattern stays instead of adding filler guys.
