I think we found the hole in @DMoney ’s QB recruiting philosophy. Yes, 5 stars from HS are too expensive and have a crazy high bust rate. But you also can’t recruit only projects or you’re left with Emory and Judd as your returning QBs on roster.

And let’s be honest. Ward was just as likely to turn pro as to come to Miami. Where would we be right now if he had gone the other way? The portal is just too fickle with QBs

I don’t have the answers. Just know we have to stop relying on the portal. Nickel is a good start. Hopefully Coleman keeps up trend.

Because he attended Columbus and is considered “a Miami guy”. If this kid were from any other state, the board would be hoping we could get him as a highly coveted 2A option behind Mateer

Let’s see how the QB position looks against Notre Dame. I’d be surprised if it’s just Emory, Judd and Nickel.

hopefully I’m not asking anything that can’t be answered. Is there legit interest on BOTH sides? I for one am a fan and think this kid can get it done at UM.

It's obviously not happening... If it were, there would be a lot more buzz about a visit etc... he's been in the portal for 10+ days now. Mateer has been committed to Oklahoma since Monday. Mendoza is probably in Miami for the break. We've heard nothing about him visiting or nearing a commitment or anything.

Somebody mentioned UGA possibly coming after Dawson once their season is over if they got rid of Bobo..that would be painful if UGA got Mendoza because they also were getting Dawson...

Otherwise, I'm not sure why Mendoza would prefer to go to UGA over Miami if Dawson is here.

Doesn't Georgia already have Stockton and Rashada? Is Mendoza transferring to sit, or does UGA really have him above Stockton who they seem to be high on?

The answer is recruit guys like Nickel and go to the portal. We didn't recruit that position well enough the first few years.
