Official Fall Camp PractiSe #7: Wednesday August 9

Matt had some interesting comments about Zion... I'm paraphrasing but was basically like "you'll have to ask him" and unsure what Zion's status is. It was weird. My two cents is Zion is cleared by the doctors but trusting his knee or something. Idk.

I hate the idea of bunching the box with a big immobile TE because it will “help the running game.”

Spreading teams out and killing them with your outside weapons if they choose not to go DB heavy and thin out the box, is how you help the running game.
Miami is fyzical bro.

Pound the rock bro.

Can't stop condensed sets bro.

I really want to know what the procedure was but with the way everything is hush hush we will likely never know

It truly could be mental.... I wouldnt put much into what Matt said, you know how Mario is this year with the media, we cant even get a freaking roster. The way Zions injury was kept underwraps I was happy to see him with two knees. Now you have some reporter asking a player about the status of another player. He did have a lil smile but I took that as comeon man, you know I cant get to that.

I also have a tough time believing that a kid, who came from a very humble background, 3* last ditch offer, comes into camp, works his *** off, gains like 60 lbs and starts as a TF against a kid who was 9 months away from being an NFL draft pick and he, as expected, got beat like a drum. Both in the game and by fans. What did he do? just continued to work and made a jump his soph year and has continued to progress until this injury. If he was done, or not wanting to play, or not gelling with the team or the gameplan why not just walk? **** near any team would likely take a chance on him.

I may be against the grain here but this is one I do not think is on the medical staff (I do think they get blame in other areas) but not Zion, I feel this is more degenerative in nature. I have seen reports of "bone on bone" reports where his knee is ****ed, almost like Manny having him gain 60lbs in like 6 months wasnt good for the kids body or joints. He clearly isnt getting drafted without more tape or he would have gone pro last year. He is out there for a reason. D$ said his people expected him to be a full go and then later report they were unsure what he was doing. For all we know he is practicing with the ones once media leaves and is in line to start lol but I would moreso bet on he has some degenerative issue that cannot be cured and every time he feels a pull or a pop or stress it is messing with him.

I remember watching his HL tape when he committed and being very impressed.

His burst and violence when tackling stood out.

I agree that the staff probably found a good one
When I saw him live, I knew he was a “take”. I came back here and reported what I saw. Jit is a heat seeking missile, who “brings it” to the ball carrier like those old school LBs.

Last year I was very uneasy about the offense , OL depth wr’s and the scheme. As you said I posted such leading up to the first game. Everything I hear this go round is much more positive. The biggest positive being the understanding of the playbook. It’s a night and day difference. We’re still thin Im some places but if we remain healthy it’ll look dramatically different imo.
We need to see some wr’s step up

My take was that the players are instructed not to discuss injury status, the reporter was totally out of line asking the question, which led to an awkward moment that Matt artfully handled by saying essentially, go ask him yourself.

Offenses energize defenses. Having an offense that can make a team play catch-up is what causes havoc. Which is why I think 9/10 wins isn’t a pipedream

How would you compare this to our 2020 or 2021 offense ?
I’d expect more of late 21 season but a better run game. The OL is noticeably bigger. It’s also much more talented.

Health this season is so beyond important. Really seems that starting OL and DL are above average which makes a world of difference. Feld and fkn Vinny and his POS training staff need to earn their money
Maaan, I'm not privy to any inside information just an observationalist but I brought that up a while back and I got ragged on. These kids continue to get injured over and over again and never heal properly. Zion isn't the first one. I don't know if there is an issue with training or with medical staff but it keeps happening over and over again. It's a pattern. We can't be that cursed by the injury Gods.

I just don’t get why Mario cleaned house yet kept Vinny. Our guys are always injured and they always take forever to recover. Way too many neck injuries also over the years.
