I truly hope Mario and Co. changed their approach when it comes to injury prevention. Last year Hearing that Citizen/Chaney got hurt in the preseason was heartbreaking. Then proceeded to lose X and almost every OL at some point.

So far so good (knock on wood) but damnit was that frustrating last year
Just to be clear on what we are talking about could you please describe "injury prevention"

Consistent reports about Ray Ray and Bain’s work ethic has me excited about the culture moving forward. Two incoming freshmen who are all business will be a great foundation for leadership on both sides of the ball in Gables. I know most of us get more excited to hear about the new guys during this time of year but it’s nice that the young guys are catching on fast and are physically imposing enough to play right now.

I think Chaney is the most talented all-purpose back on the roster. Those who write him off may be eating some crow by mid season.
Anybody who’s “writing him off” is doing so strictly because of his lack of availability up to this point. His talent has never been in question.

We need to see some wr’s step up

Yeah that room looks rough. Really needed to add a big time WR out of the portal and we didn’t do it.

Going to have to use TE and RB to create better matchups. Don’t see much in the WR room that can win one on one.

We need to see some wr’s step up
My biggest concern are the outside guys. I think Ray-Ray is going to be a star, but if we're lining him up on the outside already...is that because the staff is in love with his route-running, YAC ability, and precision in his cuts? Or is it because he looks good sure, but the crop of George/Harrell/Horton (and to a lesser extent, Redding/Ladson) are struggling to consistently produce and separate from one another?

Restrepo seems to have the slot figured out. We're all expecting Colbie Young to lock down one position, heck he kind of needs to...

Serious question:

Anyone see Hutchinson, Joyce, or Potter boom punts?

Louie Louie was probably responsible for 3-4 Ws wirh his kicking game.
I’ve been wondering about this as well, but typically silence is usually a good thing when it comes to specialists. They saw the punters in the spring and didn’t bring anyone else in for the fall so I’m taking that as a good sign.

From Canesport:

Team came up with the "Money Ball Challenge" early in the summer. It rewarded the receiver that caught the most balls each week on the JUGS machine.
To encourage his receivers to do their part, TVD participated for a week, taking his turn playing WR.

“I caught like 1,500 or something (balls) like that just to get them catching some balls,”

TVD noted that it appears to have worked. “This is the best I’ve seen the receivers so far. They’ve been doing a great job catching the ball, getting upfield, run after catch. I think from last year to this year it’s a huge jump. I’m excited to see what those guys can do leading into game week and the season.”

“I feel more comfortable over this past week-and-a-half or so, feel like we’re getting in a groove with everything offensively,” said Van Dyke, adding that he’s studied film on all Miami’s opponents over the summer. “I’m very proud of the guys and what we’ve accomplished so far. But still a good way to go.”

“Ray Ray made a big jump, had a really good off-season, working hard getting on the JUGS machine. He won the money ball challenge for receivers (with the most total catches on JUGS in the offseason). He’s done a great job catching the ball, running routes, getting open. He really took that jump, will continue to do that.”

“I’m really happy with timing with all the guys out there, now it’s just about executing, throwing and catching the ball. Doing a great job, and going to continue to do that.”
That is by far the most positive I’ve ever heard TVD speak.

He doesn’t seem like someone to throw bull**** out there or say something to that extent if he doesn’t believe it

Ha. I know what you mean, but I don't think I'd label it as astonishing. The incredible difference we're likely to see is almost regression to the mean. What was astonishing is that anyone thought last year's approach would work well with what we had. That genuinely astonished me for months.
What's also astonishing is anyone thinking that last year's approach is the mean.
