I'm still unsure why you keep bringing up last year. That's not up for debate. It's finished. We had a good class, but you have to follow that up with additional good classes to maintain a program and create that competition to raise the talent bar overall for the team. This class is mediocre up to this point and most likely we'll finish subpar. So I'm thrilled that Mario put together a great class in 2022 and made our position groups better for this upcoming season, but this current crop (2023) he's adding to the additional position groups is not looking too **** good. I will say that he could have done better in the following areas in the portal.

QB - No one to really push TVD to start
WR - Missed the main top guys and settled on Kirk and Harrell. Hopefully Harrell is and stays healthy.
DT - Missed on the Big DT to replace Jackson. Hopefully Dean holds up in the run game.
Our class is mediocre? Top 20 is mediocre in August? "More than likely finishes subar". Ok there is your agenda again. You have no idea and are making assumptions.

We KEPT TVD dummy. You know....outbid Bama ohh wait that doesn't apply.

Harrell and Kirk AUGMENT the rest if the room. It aint a vacuum. You think the WR room this year is worse than last year? Christ

DT is a wash. We missed on guys but it's not worse than last year.

And you have nothing else.

Man unplug your internet facing devices.

Your kid comes home with a mid-quarter progress report that's all Cs and Ds. Do you chew his/her *** out a bit and implement some consequences, or sit on your hands quietly until the final report card comes (because who knows, he/she might still end up with straight As)?
That is…

A truly awful analogy

But **** them kids lean on em

@No_Fly_Zone I meant that as a compliment. My apologies. It was gloriously awful

We had to keep TVD because we lost Garcia, whiffed on a QB1 for 2022, and didn't get anyone else in the portal. Let's not act like we improved the room there. X is our most proven WR and missed on multiple proven #1 WR's. That room is still an unknown. DT is close I would still say we are little behind there with no replacement for Jackson. You're trying to come off as someone with supreme knowledge, but failing miserably.

Who is “sucking him off”? Who is defending him?
Welllllllll….. not going to use those naughty types of words but there is this one fella on here who lingers around waiting for us to land any players so that he can spring out of a refrigerator like Cato ambushing Inspector Clouseau in those old Pink Panther movies with Peter Sellers and make us regret that we ever questioned anything ever ever ever. It’s very scary for some of us who just want to express our concerns.

Gotcha gotcha

I wasn’t necessarily asking him to be combative I was genuinely curious

I’ve got this uncanny ability to filter out people that are too extreme almost instantly so I do miss things

I don’t know how anyone looks at what’s going on and thinks we’re not getting stuffed in a closet or that the chances are good that we’ll flip these really high rated kids we lost from more recently successful programs if we win 8 games.

This looks more likely to end with us ranked at 20 than 10.
It cracks me up that people actually think 8 wins will have a huge impact on high-profile recruits. We need to win at least 9 to have any impact and even then, 10 wins is still what really will make people believe Mario is turning it around.

8 wins, especially with a bowl loss is a joke and what we should have won year 1. And let me be clear, I am not saying I think we will win 9-10, before some mouth-breather misinterprets the post.

I think 8 wins is more "avoid getting our commits flipped and have something to try and sell for 2025" type of stuff.

Yeah, it’s just too little to late. We needed 7-8 wins and some promising things last season. I think 10 wins makes a difference maybe in being able to say that other stuff is behind us but I still think we’re in a real uphill struggle for 2024. 8-10 wins will help for 2025.

I’ve been saying for two years they wouldn’t over pay. We were never a top tier NIL. It’s not my fault some bought that narrative. I’ve been clear we got closer but we’re still nowhere near the top 4-5 spenders. Bags will always be hard to beat and Miami doesn’t play that.
I agree what most of what you wrote. You know better than anyone else and I rarely disagree with you brother. You know it’s all love, but if we were moving at the same rate or should I say weight as last year, I think we’d have one or two five star DL by now. The budget is big, the discipline has been too risk averse imo. But I think we played ourselves… we allocated $x for DLINE & thought we were getting them all. Now we’re kinda fcked but kind not, bc we can now overpay…. Most important is winning. But I know we’re both a little worried… time to be a fan. All love!

To put things in perspective, we have fans jizzing themselves over FSPOO season last year when they won 10 games yet finished with the #20 class. Is Mario a better recruiter than Creepy Mike? No question but it’s still a tall task to get those wins to translate into massive recruiting success in the same season

its just nuts that we hope to win 8 games in year 2. wild how low we have set our expectations

I’m gonna go ahead and say it. Within those 9 wins we need to win 2 of 3 vs A&M, Clemson, and FSU. No moral victories.

I’ve always said a good season could make a few guys jump in late that would have a good impact on the class. Particularly SFLA kids. That’s needed to get to the 10-15 range imo. Thats why I say there’s tons of pressure on this season. We could win 10 games and we still wouldn’t have a single digit class but adding a few key guys by showing progress makes a difference.

It also doesn’t help the face of our NIL has been getting publicly destroyed this offseason by the media. I’m sure thats being used by other collectives / NIL’s. Even though he’s not as involved this go around. Kids are likely being told it’s fools gold and only a matter of time before the money stops. Imo it’s a perfect storm. It’s more complicated than 1-2 issues.

Since LSU beat the **** out of us in the Peach Bowl in 2005, we have won more than 8 games four times.

For some context, many of the kids we’re recruiting right now were born that year.

So to me, it’s not really about low expectations. It’s about reality. If somehow we win 9, it’d be literally one of the handful of most successful seasons in Dylan Stewart’s lifetime.

You’re not wrong, it’s sad as ****. But it is what it is. The program has been in the morgue for a generation. Bringing it back to life is going to be a **** of a chore, full stop. Doing it in 2 years is probably not incredibly likely.

It’s been a perfect storm and some of the pain has been self inflicted. Regardless nobody cares about the excuses , we’ve missed on way too many kids at the top of the board.
