Dwayne Hoilett

Or maybe the type of player we could get a couple of years ago under the dark cloud. Now that the cloud is gone you are seeing better coming in and the marginal players are getting squeezed out...

Another Al Golden "sleeper"

If I remember correctly Hoilet was extended an offer early in the process off of a camp performance. I think Golden shot himself in the foot by jumping the gun on a bunch of kids early in his tenure. I can see offering a kid like this late when you strike out on your primary targets, but not early in the process. Hopefully the staff is learning from their mistakes.

Most thought he'd been gone last summer , I'm surprised it took this long

yeah we just happen to have 3 of the best rb's in the country committed right now. I dont think people will ever understand the mess they took over. If duke doesnt commit and pitch others, we are way behind.

That was the only slightly Miami-caliber class Golden has had, because he could sell a dream and Duke recruited for him.

Your opinions seem balanced, well-scrutinized and objective.

Yeah they aren't based upon fact or anything. Plenty of first-year coaches have great recruiting classes, then fall off when they don't produce on the field. Same **** happened to Golden because players saw the awful product he put out.

I dont think the reasoning was he was too small, **** before he left he was at 255-260. I dont think he was producing. Whenever a freshman who doesnt compete in spring practice, enrolls and is instantly already ahead of you in the depth chart, its time to start considering if you should transfer. He needs to go to a D2 school and get polished with PT.

you can't tell me this class coming in is not a "Miami caliber" class. Kaaya, Yearby, Brady, McDermott, Darling, Chad, Dem. Jackson, THarris, Hester, M.Smith, Owens , Trayone, Berrios, Moten , Langham and Juwon Young are all big timers. There aren't many classes from other schools that I would trade for

these kids coming in are hungry. 2013 had talent but wasnt deep. we are adding pieces, 2014 solidifies the depth. We had a highly ranked 2014 class plus guys like Brady and Demetrius Jackson are going to beat their expectations from recruiting services

Yep. Too thin. I knew if he didn't play right away, he would never play. Team is so weak, anyone who can't start immediately is a bust. :(
(You will see that with Olsen this year, there was a reason he couldn't be put in a game when we had NO QB in 2013)

Good kid.

Wasnt he redshirted and in Olsen's defense Golden wasnt gonna start anybody else besides Morris

Yes the difference is night and day. Under "the cloud" Al could only get 1 stars...now Al is cleaning up on the 2 and 3 stars. Counting the days til his firing.

Please name the 2 stars we got under Golden.

Grimsley and Joe Brown. I hope there aren't more, but I'm not checking
