Duke replaced by Crawford on first team

I hear Golden was asked if Duke "had a chance to earn back" his starting job by Saturday, and he just gave the reporter a dumfounded look while trying to come to terms with how bad our media can be. I see him giving some porsters here the same look.

LOL at anyone who thinks this means anything. This is just Sports Psychologist Golden at work. Duke will still get the vast majority of carries, and will be motivated by this.

Dukes elusiveness is what makes him special. Duke needs to get back to trying to make defenders miss, instead of looking for contact. He wouldn't be going to the sidelines every other play. If he would get back to with what makes him special. His ability to make cuts on a dime. There was once a great back that made a living out of this trait. He knew that he couldn't go run through defenses. So he ran around them.

Doing this lost gem at the goal line would also help.

He probably should take a page out that mans playing style book also...Start avoiding all those big hits he takes and make them miss like we know he's capable of doing...

He's just pushing Duke Johnson and rewarding Dallas Crawford.... it works both ways.

Duke Johnson is the most explosive offensive weapon on our team but he needs to take a page from Dallas Crawford and learn when to run hard/physical, and when to use ur main talent, which is being elusive, breaking ankles, making ppl miss.

Duke is indeed Dynamic, but he's always looking for the big run, rather than simply eating up yards that he see's in front of him. That's what Dallas does best; take the yards the defense gives him by default.

DC is not going to bust one for 75 yards+ However, there are times when Duke doesn't simply take the 6-7 yard gain, rather than gambling and settling for a 2 yard run.

...But at the same time, i personally don't think Duke is not 100% right now, and is feeling the effcts of the mild concussion initiated as FAU.

I disagree.... Duke's entire game is about going for the short 5-7 yard gains, then break a big one. thats what he does....

The fumbles were just lack of concentration and trying to do too much.....

his main problem, which is why he gets "banged up" a lot, is he tries to do the power run game too much, at the wrong times, trying to intimidate opponents physically, which plays right in defenses hands b/c all they are going to do is try to take him out.

Dallas Crawford avoids unnecessary contact, Duke usually does, but this year he has changed up his running style to his detriment.... just do what u do best and break ankles, he is using his stiff arm too much, which is crazy to say.

Couldn't agree more. It's like Duke is looking for opportunities to show his toughness this year. I think he's actually limiting his greatest attribute, his vision, because instead of looking to avoid punishment, he is now looking for contact a lot of times.

Exactly I know Duke is excited about being bigger & stronger but he needs to chill w/ that **** and use his vision, break ankles, and live for the next play..... He has proven that he's more then an all purpose back but get back to doing what he does best and stop looking for the contact all the time.

I'm not even worried about the banging up the middle, that is not what he does best. Just saying we have a 250lb full back that would probably do a much better job on the goal line if he is given a chance. 70lbs make a **** of a lot of difference when trying to get one yard.

I guess you didn't see the helmet to helmet exchange on the goal line then? If we had a line that could block for the backs I'd agree. Up to this point they are very good blocking for the qb and they look like crap blocking for the run. No need to kill your best back for a one yard gain when you have a monster to send up the middle.

''his main problem, which is why he gets "banged up" a lot, is he tries to do the power run game too much,''

You mean when some dumb *** calls for him to run into a goal line stance instead of giving it to your very good strong 250 lb full back? He has great talent, Coley has to do better at using him and his talent in open space.

Duke hasn't been banged up in goal line situations. Every time he has limped off it has been from being tackled in open space. You know what I don't want? Coley not using our best back when we need TDs.

What I didn't see was him rolling around on the ground like he was when the USF LB got him on the chin in open space or when Jabari Gorman got him against Florida near the sideline.

Duke has 3 fumbles in 4 games, that's unacceptable. I don't care who you are. Al is just holding everyone accountable, that includes your stars.

You know you're incorrect right? We had not fumbled once all season till Dukes two fumbles against USF[/QUOTE]

Correct. Duke has fumbled 3 times in his career. All 3 inside the 5 against USF. Must be a USF thing.

Goal line STANCE ?????

Sports Psychiatry?????

Holy F@*ktard !!!!!!!

Did I just read 5 pages from the -7 Floor Crew????? ;-p

This is Golden making a point about turnovers and motivating Duke. He's not losing his starting job. Lol.

I'd love to see Duke come out this Saturday and run with some extra motivation. Be it Golden's mind games, frustration over the fumbles, or just realizing its time to get down to business, there are few things scarier for an opposing defense than a Duke with a purpose.

I think it's go time for our boy. He's a gamer and a champion...I think he steps his game up now.

Now we're going to loose the game against Virginia Tech on Saturday because Golden wants to prove a message. I have an idea for you Mr. Golden, coach these kid up the right way and you will not need to worry about fumbling problems from the running back. Keep Morris from throwing interception and stop making excuses for everything when we loose Mr. Golden.

That's why this is so much to do about nothing. The kid has 267 touches in his career and has only put the ball on the ground 3 times, not just lost fumbles, but fumbles in general. Kid doesn't fumble except in the redzone in lopsided games against USF for some crazy reason haha. Kid will start on Sat and will have the most touches of anyone on the team. Jimmy said it best, there are different sets of rules for different players. Golden ain't no fool.

I thought he fumbled against Fau but I was incorrect . That's still three in five games, too many for a player of his caliber. Not a huge deal but Al wants everyone to be held accountable .
