Duke replaced by Crawford on first team

He's just pushing Duke Johnson and rewarding Dallas Crawford.... it works both ways.

Duke Johnson is the most explosive offensive weapon on our team but he needs to take a page from Dallas Crawford and learn when to run hard/physical, and when to use ur main talent, which is being elusive, breaking ankles, making ppl miss.

Duke is indeed Dynamic, but he's always looking for the big run, rather than simply eating up yards that he see's in front of him. That's what Dallas does best; take the yards the defense gives him by default.

DC is not going to bust one for 75 yards+ However, there are times when Duke doesn't simply take the 6-7 yard gain, rather than gambling and settling for a 2 yard run.

...But at the same time, i personally don't think Duke is 100% right now, and is feeling the effcts of the mild concussion initiated as FAU.

This assessment of Duke is 100% incorrect...

I doubt I really even need to explain either.

I disagree.... Duke's entire game is about going for the short 5-7 yard gains, then break a big one. thats what he does....

The fumbles were just lack of concentration and trying to do too much.....

his main problem, which is why he gets "banged up" a lot, is he tries to do the power run game too much, at the wrong times, trying to intimidate opponents physically, which plays right in defenses hands b/c all they are going to do is try to take him out.

Dallas Crawford avoids unnecessary contact, Duke usually does, but this year he has changed up his running style to his detriment.... just do what u do best and break ankles, he is using his stiff arm too much, which is crazy to say.

lol you're wrong about your assessment that Duke won't take the simply run and is always looking for the big run. What does that have to do with favorite players not doing anything wrong. Sometimes I wonder what game some people be watching.

This. I was wondering if someone was going to say something about that post. Duke makes yards that aren't there and Crawford can't get. The idea that Duke settles for 2 yard runs is laughable, he runs extremely hard.

And I love Crawford, he's just a good football player. Solid RB, great STs player.

I actually like the idea of giving Coach Johnson something ELSE to gameplan for! No way he can afford to bring a safety down in the box with Waters, Coley, Dorsett and crew running around back there. There defense is in trouble.

I sure and **** don't understand why you send a 180lb back up the middle on a goal line stance when you have a very good 250lb fullback. Moronic if you ask me!

Golden you magnificent *******

"Duke Johnson in white jersey, what does that mean? "don't fumble the ball inside the red zone,'' says .@GoldenAl."

I expect an angry Duke

This sends a message to the entire team. Golden doesn't play favoritism and no ones job is safe.

But don't get it twisted - Duke will be getting near 20 carries and Dallas maybe 8

You have to send a message that certain mistakes won't be tolerated, and playing time is the one chip coaches control.

Turnovers lose games. Duke will get most of his touches anyway and preserving him for the season can't hurt.

Now if the **** NCAA would say wassup...

Duke is a good short yardage back. Size is extremely overrated when it comes to short yardage situations IMO

However, Hagans looked good in the one short yardage situation we have seen him in this year and wouldn't mind seeing more of that.

what makes everyone so sure duke won't be the starter Saturday anyway??? its already a given he will have more carries. i am pretty sure if he does what he has to in practice this week he will be the starter for whatever that is worth.

You mean when some dumb *** calls for him to run into a goal line stance instead of giving it to your very good strong 250 lb full back? He has great talent, Coley has to do better at using him and his talent in open space.

Reading comprehension is the problem.

there are times when Duke doesn't simply take the 6-7 yard gain, rather than gambling.

Gambling - is the wagering of something on an event with an uncertain outcome with the primary "intent" of winning additional money and/or material goods (or extra yardage). Hood definition of Gambling - you win some you lose some (70+ yard run vs 2 yard gain).

Gambling In football terms for you slow ****'s out there: Not going with the design of the play; Example: The running lane is designed to be developed in the 2 gap; however, the ball carrier decides to bounce the run elsewhere.

If it were up to some of you guys, folks would be put in jail at the notion of saying Duke has never in his life had a 2 yard gain. LULZ!!

Lesson 2 if needed; we'll cover the phrase "there are times..."

thats a fair point but most of it is on Duke when he decides to stiff arm every player who is in front of him or try to run through everybody instead of just breaking their ankles like he could easily do.

Duke hasn't been banged up in goal line situations. Every time he has limped off it has been from being tackled in open space. You know what I don't want? Coley not using our best back when we need TDs.
